South Korea hosted its second olympics in 2018, having hosted the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.  In connection with the XXIII Winter Olympics Games held in Pyeongchang (a city in the northeastern part of the country, not far from Seoul), AirVuz contributor Axlfro was hired to capture drone footage from around the country.  The result is a full blown aerial collage of this astonishingly beautiful country.  The video features footage of PyeongChang, as well as Gangneung, Samchock, and Sokcho.

Contributor Majestic, winner of the innaugural Drone Video of the Week Award, created this stunning aerial tour of his country, South Korea.  Using a DJ Mavic Pro drone, the video contains amazing aerial footage of the Seoul and Busan skylines, as well as other sights from across the country.  The "star" of the video is the Lotte World Tower, Seoul's tallest building and the fifth tallest in the world as of year-end 2018.  Completed in 2016, the 115 floor skyscraper stands at 555 meters (over 1.8k ft.).

Top contributor Iris Films created this amazing aerial collage from a trip to South Korea.  The video was shot in the winter and beautifully captures this magical land in the dead of winter.  The video features some amazing "people shots" (check out the shot at :30, for example) as well as bird's eye views of the diverse landscapes of this East Asian country.  While South Korea is surrounded by ocean, it's far enough north that snowfall is not uncommon, especially in its mountainous interior.

Take a tour of the great city of Busan, South Korea in this fantastic drone video by AirVuz contributor Chrisky.  Located near the mouth of the Nakdong River on the country's southeastern coast, Busan is South Korea's second-largest city after Seoul.  Its port, the busiest in the country and one of the ten busiest in the world, is a key component of South Korea's export-driven economy.  Highlights of the video include extensive footage of the Diamond Bridge (Gwangandaegyo); completed in 2002, it's South Korea's second-longest span.

Take in these marvelous aerial views of South Korea, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Chrisky.  The drone video reel was shot over four seasons in the country, which has some of the world's most pronounced seasons.  The video opens with a climber scaling a wall of ice, then cuts to a half-frozen river.  At around the :45 mark, there's a great overhead shot of some hikers casting long shadows.  Other shots will take you over some of the country's teeming cities and quaint mountain villages.

Jeju is an island lying off the southern tip of South Korea, in a body of water known as the Korean Strait.  At over 1.8k square km (about 700 square mi), it is the country's largest island.  One of the most popular getaway destinations in the country, the island's volcano and lava tubes are a UNESCO World Heritage natural site.  In this beautiful video, contributor Majestic used a drone to film this exotic island.  The video shows the blue-green waters, sprawling beaches, and a small wind farm located off the shore of the island.

The country's highest mountains lie in range which runs just inland from the eastern coast, with another grouping in the southwest part of the country.  In this piece by topcontributor Chris Jeon, you'll get some magnificent aerial views of this little-seen side of South Korea. Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Tommy Choi brings us this fantastic drone video from the mountains of South Korea.  The video was filmed over Seoraksan, the tallest mountain within the Taebaek range that runs down the eastern side of the Korean Peninsula.  Seoraksan is located roughly in the middle of the range, not far south of the 38th parallel, in the Gangwon Province.  It has a peak elevation of about 5.6k ft. above sea level or around 1.7k m.  Seoraksan is South Korea's second-tallest mountain.

Jeju Island is one of the natural wonders of South Korea.  In this amazing drone video by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Chrisky, you'll get an aerial view of the island, which was formed by a volcanic eruption on the ocean floor about two million years ago - just yesterday in geological terms.   The video will give you an excellent perspective of some of the unique geology of the island, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site (the Jeju Volcanic Island and Lava Tubes).

For a first upload to AirVuz, nabinmewahang brings us this excellent aerial view of the city of Daegu in South Korea.  Located on a plain in the southeastern part of the country, Daegu is the country's fourth-largest city by population.  Daegu was situated within the Pusan Perimeter during the Korean War, and thus was spared from some of the ravages of that bloody conflict.  Beginning in the 1960's, the city became one of the centerpieces of South Korea's export-driven economic growth model and grew explosively.

Holi Festivals are a Hindu tradition in which participants cover themselves in bright colots.  The festivals began in India but have become popular with non-Hindus throughout the world.  One of the largest  is the Holi Hai Festival of Colors in Busan, South Korea.  Contributor Aerial Aspects worked with the event's organizers to film the 2017 festival with a drone, providing us with an amazing aerial view of this sea of colors in the second-largest city of South Korea after the capital, Seoul.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist ViDeo Creator jP brings us this fantastic drone video from the tallest skyscraper in South Korea.  Completed in 2016, the 123 story Lotte World Tower stands almost 555 meters tall (just over 1.8k ft.) above the streets of Seoul.  Nearly twice as tall as the next tallest building in the capital city, it's the fifth tallest in the world as of early 2019.  The buildings's top seven floors are occupied by Seoul Sky, an observation deck and restaurant complex.

Check out this stunning drone video of a giant park in Incheon, South Korea, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky.  Songdo Central Park is the centerpiece of the city's Songdo District, an area of reclaimed land along the waterfront of South Korea's third-largest city (after Seoul and Busan).  Inspired by New York's Central Park, Songdo Central Park covers about 40 hectares or around 110 acres.  The park was one of the major filming scenes for the 2012 music video "Gangnam Style" by Psy.

Top contributor and pilot Zekedrone took this awesome dronie from the town of Guangueng, South Korea.  It's a coastal city situated in the Gangwon Province which covers the northeastern part of the country.  Located less than an hour's drive northeast of the city of Pyeonchang, Gangwon hosted the skating competitions for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.   A nearby attraction is Jeongdongjin, a smaller town which is the famous throughout South Korea as a spot to watch the sun rise on New Year's Day.

Check out this drone video of a major new canal in South Korea, compliments of FLYKOREA.  The Ara Canal connects the Han River (one of the country's most important waterways) to the Yellow Sea on the western side of the Korean Peninsula.  It runs between the Seo District of Incheon (South Korean's third largest city and part of Greater Seoul) to the Seo District of Seoul.  Completed in 2012 at considerable cost, the canal was built both to provide outdoor leisure opportunities as well as for flood control.

Former DVOW Finalist Chrisky brings us this outstanding drone video from South Korea's Udo Island.  Udo is located just east of the larger island of Jeju, about 60 mi. (around 100 km) south of the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula.  Udo is essentially a lava plateau, and its name, which translates to "Cow Island" reflects its bovine shape.  Covering only about two square mi. (around six square km), Udo typically receives over a million visitors every year, and it's been used as a filming location for numerous South Korean movies.

The bay of the Yellow Sea around Incheon, South Korea is home to a number of islands.  Two of the more prominent ones are  Yeongheung and Seonjae Islands.  Connected since 2001 by the Yeongheung Bridge, they link to Daebudo Island to the east, which connects directly to the mainland in several spots just south of South Korea's third largest city.  In this drone video by contributor FLYKOREA, you will get an aerial tour of Yeongheung and Seonjae Islands.  The entire area is considered part of Greater Seoul.

Check out this drone video of a massive residential development on the waterfront of greater Busan, South Korea, compliments of Ghost Captain Studios.  It's called Myeongji Ocean City, and it's built on reclaimed land on the estuary of the Nakdong River, the country's longest waterway.  It lies just a few km/mi to the west of Busan, more or less directly south of Gimhae International Airport.  Busan is the country's second largest city and its harbor is home to South Korea's largest seaport.

Top contributor Chris Jeon created this marvelous drone video from the snow-covered mountains of South Korea.  While the country is nearly surrounded by water, a series of mountain ranges run down the northeastern south-central parts of the country.  With elevations reaching as high as 1.5k meters above sea level (a bit over 5k ft.), these mountainous areas receive substantial snowfall during the winter months.    The video features some incredible views of this winter wonderland, including a wind farm located on a high ridge.

Top contributor zekedrone created this amazing drone video of Gangneung Beach, one of the most popular beach destinations in South Korea.  The beach is located on the Sea of Japan in the Gangwon Province, which occupies the northeastern part of the country.  Its long beachfront is known as being one of the country's best spots to see the sun rise.  The beach lies a bit to the north of the town of Jeongdongjin, which is famous throughout the country as the spot to watch the sun rise on New Year's Day.

Check out this drone video of one of South Korea's largest marinas, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky.  It's called Jeongok Port, and it's located in the city of Hwaseong, about a 90 minute drive southwest of the capital city of Seoul and a somewhat shorter distance south of Incheon.  The center of South Korea's growing yacht culture, the marine has hosted several internationally recognized yachting races.  The video was shot as the sun was setting over the Yellow Sea to the west.

About half of South Korea's population of a bit over 50 million resides in Greater Seoul.  While this megalopolis lies on the delta of the Han River, a short trip outside the core urban area yields a vastly different landscape.  In this drone video, you will get a sunrise and sunset view of a hilly area just outside of Greater Seoul.  It was filmed around the municipality of Siheung.  Siheung lies in the southern part of the Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds the city of Seoul and is actually South Korea's most populous province.

Yeongheungdo is one of a series of islands off South Korea's western coast on the Yellow Sea, which separates the Korean Peninsula from Mainland China.  Located due south of Incheon International Airport, it's part of the municipality of Incheon, South Korea's third-largest city.  Since 2001, it's been connected by bridge to the neighboring island of Seonjae-do, which in turn is connected to the mainland.   Seen from above in this drone video by Chrisky, the island is home to about 4k permanent residents.

Jamsil Park is one of the great recreational spaces of Seoul, the giant capital city of South Korea.  It's part of a 12 park system known as Hangang Park, which was built in the early 1980's partly in anticipation of the country's hosting the 1988 Summer Olympics.  Jamsil Park lies on the south side of the Han River, just south of central Seoul.  The park features numerous green spaces, biking and walking trails, seven swimming pools, and other amenities.  It also hosts the annual Hangang Spring Flower Festival.

AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky brings us this excellent drone video of one of the most important points in the river system of South Korea.  Sometimes called "Two Water Head Lake", it's actually not a lake per se but the confluence of the Bukhang and Namhang Rivers to form the Han River, which flows westwards through Seoul and then discharges into the Yellow Sea.  The two major tributaries join in  Yangpyeong County in Gyeonggi Province, the giant territory which surrounds the South Korean capital city.

South Korea's Wolmido Island lies about a kilometer (.6 mi.) off the mainland of Incheon, the great seaport city near the northwestern corner of the country.  Connected by bridge since 1989 and by monorail since 2019, the island has become a popular daytime excursion from Incheon, which is now considered part of Greater Seoul.  Wolmido lies a bit to the east of the artificial island which was built in connection with the construction of Incheon International Airport, the country's primary international air travel gateway.

Check out these fantastic drone views of the snow-covered mountains of South Korea, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky.  It's a village near the Daegwallyeong pass in the Taebaek Mountains, which run down much of the eastern side of the Korean Peninsula. The pass connects the regions of Yeongseo and Yeongdong of Gangwon Province, the northeasternmost of South Korea's nine provinces (not counting its city-provinces).  The pass sits at an altitude of about 800 meters above sea level or around 2.7k ft.

Gangneung is a city on the east coast of South Korea.  The city was the host of four of the venues featured in the 2018 Winter Olympic Games: Gangneung Hockey Centre, home of men’s ice hockey; Gangneung Curling Centre, home to the curling competition; Gangneung Oval which housed the speed skating track; Gangneung Ice Area, home to speed skating’s short track and figure skating.  In this video, RussellFPV flew his first person view (FPV) quad at through the area, earning himself a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in April, 2019.

AirVuz contributor Chrisky brings us this outstanding aerial tour of the campus of Yonsei University in Incheon, South Korea.  With campuses in both Incheon and nearby Seoul, Yonsei is one of the three SKY Universities, along with Seoul National University and Korea University; these are considered to be the three most prestigious post-secondary institutions in the country.  Yonsei was established in 1957 via the union of Yonhi College and Severance Union Medical College.  It currently maintains total enrollment of about 38k studends.

Check out this fantastic drone video of South Korea's Gaetgol Ecological park, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky.  The park is located just a few km/mi southeast of Incheon, and a bit further to the southwest of Seoul.  Home to some of the last undeveloped wetland in the estuary that forms the northwestern corner of the country, it's designed to protect and display the eco-system that has largely been displaced by the sprawling expanse of the Gyeonggi Province which surrounds the national capital city of Seoul. .

Check out this fantastic drone video of a small island off the coast of South Korea, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky.  Yokji Island (Yokjido) is one of a number of islands which lie in the Strait of Tsushima, the body of water which separates the Korean Peninsula from the Japanese island of Fukuoka and which connects the Sea of Japan to the Yellow Sea.  The oddly-shaped island, which includes numerous peninsulas and bays, is part of the province of South Gyeongsang (Gyeongsangnam-do).

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor FLY KOREA brings us this excellent drone video of an important mid-sized city in South Korea.  Mokpo is located in South Jeolla, the southernmost province of the country.  Mokpo is home to one of the region's most important seaports.  During the Japanese occupation of Korea, which began in 1910 and ended with Japan's defeat in World War II, Mokpo played a particularly important role due to its location between the southern part of Japan and the Chinese mainland.

Take an aerial tour of an important provincial city in South Korea, compliments of  nabinmewahang.  The city of Jeonju is the capital of the North Jeolla Province in the southwestern part of the country.  Founded in the first century BC, it's well known for its cultural heritage.  South Korea's 16th-largest city as of 2019, it's particularly well-known for its traditional cooking; in 2012 it was selected as one of the Creative Cities for Gastronomy as part of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor DannyBhoy brings us this excellent drone video from the district of Yeongtong in Greater Seoul, South Korea.  Yeongtong is on of the eastern districts of the city of Suwon, which lies about 30 km (around 19 mi.) south of central Seoul.  It's part of the Gyeonggi Province, a giant conurbation which surrounds the South Korean capoital city and which is home to about half of the roughly 25 million residents of the Seoul Capital Area, the world's fifth-largest urban agglomeration.

Check out these beautiful drone views from South Korea, compliments of AirVuz contributor DannyBhoy.  The video was shot in and around Taeanhaean National Park, which lies on 840 square km (around 325 square mi.) of islands and peninsulas of the Yellow Sea, a bit south of Seoul.  The video includes great footage of the park's landscapes and seascapes, as well as the Anmyeondo Buddhist Temple complex and the Kkotji Beach.  The park is home to almost 1,200 animal species, over 700 plant species, and over 600 species of marine life.

Check out this excellent drone video of a stunning rock formation on the coast of South Korea.  Known as Candlestick Rock (Chuam Chotdaebawi), it's located in the city of Donghae, a port city in the northeastern province of Gangwon.  While the actual Candlestick Rock is just one among many unusual looking stones in these waters of the Sea of Japan (the body of water which separates the Korean Peninsula from the islands of Japan), you will have no trouble identifying it.  This video was filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 3 drone.

Check out this excellent drone video of South Korea's Namhae Island, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky.  Also known as Namhaedo, the island lies just off the southern coast of South Gyeongsang Province, in the southeastern part of the country.  Covering a land area of about 300 square km (around 120 square mi.), Namhae is the country's fifth-largest island on that measure.  Since 1973, the island has been connected to the South Korean mainland by the 660 meter (about 2.2k ft.) Namhae Bridge.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky brings us this fantastic drone video from the mountains of South Korea.  The video was filmed over a snow-covered Daedunsan, which has a peak elevation of just under 900 meters above sea level (around 2.9k ft.).  The mountain is situated in the province of South Chungcheong Province, which covers much of the western part of the country.  The location is roughly equidistant between the cities of Nonsan and Guemsan, and a somewhat longer distance due south of the larger city of Daejeon.

Check out this beautiful drone video of Tongyeong, South Korea by AirVuz contributor and pilot FSJR.  Tongyeong is located in the South Gyeongsang Province, which covers a portion of the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula.  The city lies on a peninsula which is connected by bridges to some of the numerous islands on South Korea's southern coast.  A popular tourist destination, Tongyeong is about an hour's drive from Busan, which lies in the southeastern corner of the country and is South Korea's second-largest city.

Suncheon is an important mid-sized city in the southern part of South Korea.  It is situated in the province of Jeollanam-do, a bit to the north and west of Suncheon Bay.  In this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor FSJR, you'll get a tour of the area around the city during the Spring cherry blossom season.  Cherry blossom bloom first in the southern part of the country, generally beginning in late March.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 3, you'll see why this part of the country is known for its natural beauty.

Facing a heavily-armed North Korea north of the 38th parallel, South Korea must maintain a large military to prevent a repeat of the invasion which launched the bloody Korean War in 1950.  The largest component of South Korea's armed forces is the Republic of Korea Army, which maintains a stength of about 420k soldiers as of 2022.  In this drone video by FLY KOREA, you'll see an impressive army training exercise involving the K9 Self-Propelled Howitzer and the K2 Black Panther tank, both of which are manufactured in South Korea.

AirVuz content creator Chrisky combined drone and ground camera footage to create this excellent video of a massive development in Greater Seoul, South Korea.  It's in the township of Dongtan, which is part of the city of Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province, the massive territory which surrounds the capital city and the country's most populous.  It's about 45 km (a little under 30 mi.) south of central Seoul, an easy commute on the high-speed Suseo–Pyeongtaek high-speed railway which runs nearby.

AirVuz contributor and pilot Chrisky brings us this excellent drone video of a village within the South Korean city of Seongnam.  The village is called Taepyeong-dong, and it's located in the northern part of the city.  Seongnam is the 10th largest city in South Korea as of 2020.  It's the second-largest city in the province of Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds the South Korean capital city of Seoul.  A planned city which was built during the rule of President Park Chung-Hee, Seongnam is now considered part of Greater Seoul.

The Incheon Bridge is one of the engineering marvels of South Korea.  Seen in this drone video by ViDeo Creator jP, the span connects Yeongjongdo Island with the mainland city of Incheon.  Opened in 2009, the bridge has a total length of 13 mi. or 21 km.  It's longest single segment is 2.6k ft. long, (800 m), the longest cable-stayed span in South Korea.  A major piece of infrastructure, the bridge shortened the driving time from the southern part of Greater Seoul to Incheon International Airport, South Korea's busiest, by over an hour.

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot RussellFPV earned a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in December 2023 with this highly cinematic piece from South Korea.  The video was filmed on Ulleungdo, an island which lies about 75 mi. (around 120 km) east of the Korean Peninsula in the Sea of Japan.  Also known as Dagelet Island or Argonaut Island, Ulleungdo was formed by the eruption of a volcano on the sea floor.  The resulting mountain, Seonginbong, reaches an altitude of about 3.2k ft. above sea level or around 1k m.

South Korea's Cheongna International City is a new development on the country's western (Yellow Sea) coast, west of Seoul and across a narrow strait from Yeongjongdo, on which lies the city's main international airport.  Seen in this drone video by AirVuz contributor leehk0429, Cheongna (which is part of the city of Incheon) is expected to eventually have a permanent population of about 90k.  The video also features footage of the Yeongjong Bridge, the northernmost of the two spans connecting Yeongjongdo to the mainland.

Top contributor Droneland created this aerial tour of South Korea's Jeju Island, which lies just south of the mainland in the Korea Strait.  The first stop is tiny Udo Island, a satellite just east of the main island.  Then it's on to Jeongbang Falls, a famous waterfall on the main island.  From there you'll head to Cheonjiyeon Falls, which is located on the island's southern shore. Other featured spots include the rocky cliffs of Oedolgae just west of the city of Seogwipo, and Jeju City, on the island's northern coast.

South Korea's Namhan River is a tributary of the Han, one of the longest and most important waterways on the Korean Peninsula.  In this drone video by AirVuz contributor DannyBhoy, you'll see the Namhan River as it flows through the city of Yeoju.  Yeoji is part of the Gyeonggi Province, which surrounds the capital city of Seoul on three sides and vaguely resembles a backwards-facing "C".  Yeoju, which lies in the southeastern part of the province, is known as one of the country's major centers for ceramics.

In this first person view (FPV) video by contributor and drone pilot wons fpv, you'll see the tallest skyscraper in South Korea from an entirely new perspective.  Completed in 2016, the 123 story Lotte Tower stands almost 555 meters tall (just over 1.8k ft.) above the streets of Seoul.  Nearly twice as tall as the next tallest building in the capital city, it's the fifth tallest in the world as of early 2019.  Wons fpv advises that he flew with permission from the building and took appropriate safety precautions.

Check out this first person view (FPV) video of an epic dive of one of South Korea's tallest skyscrapers, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Appa FPV.  He flew his racing quad up and over the Posco Tower in Songdo International Business District, a waterfront redevelopment project in Incheon, about 30 km (around 20 mi.) southwest of Seoul.  Completed in 2011, the 68 story mixed-use project has an architectural height of 305 meters or just over a thousand feet.  As of early 2020, it's South Korea's fourth-tallest building.
