Drone Videos of England's Yorkshire and the Humber

Northern England's Yorkshire County is the largest in the United Kingdom in terms of its land area, taking up much of the northeastern part of England.  Yorkshire figured prominently in the War of the Roses during the late Middle Ages and was an important center of the Industrial Revolution.  In this drone video, top contributor hamzamuj uses a DJI Mavic Pro drone to take us on an aerial tour of his native Yorkshire, giving us drone's eye views of Whitby Abbey, the scenic former fishing town of Staithes, and the Cow and Calf Rocks.

Yorkshire Dales is an upland area of Yorkshire in the North of England, full of moors, hills and ridges.  Most of it is part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, one of the largest in England, which attracts over 8 million visitors per year.  In this video, top contributor Hamza Mujtaba uses a DJI Mavic Pro drone to film a Toyota GT 86 sports car cruising through the region, driving past many of the area's most well-known landmarks including Ribblehead, Ingleborough, Horton-in-Ribblesdale, and Whernside.

While Bram Stoker's timeless 1897 novel Dracula is largely set in what is modern-day Romania, a portion of the book is set in the Yorkshire region of England.  In this drone video by AirVuz contributor bumblefalconer, you'll see the two spots.  The first part of the video was filmed over the town of Whitby, which lies at the mouth of the River Esk in North Yorkshire.  The second part of the video features the fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay, which is located just south of Whitby, where Dracula's ship runs aground in the novel.  

Yorkshire Dales National Park is one of the biggest attractions in Northern England; the North Yorkshire park will see about 8 million visitors in a typical year.  Within the park, one of the most beautiful spots is Malham Cove, a giant rock formation which runs about a kilometer (.6 mi.) through the park.  Malham Cove has appeared in numerous movies, the most famous of which is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010).  You can see it from above in this drone video by AirVuz contributor ckeo99.

Hawarth is a village in West Yorkshire, sitting in the center of northern England.  Using a DJI Mavic Pro Drone, top contributor and pilot Hamja Muztaba created this marvelous aerial video of Haworth, which features prominently in one of the most famous works of English literature: in Emily Brontë's 1847 novel Wuthering Heights, Thrushcross Grange is believed to have been inspired by a manor in Haworth.  The video also includes footage of nearby Cullingworth and the Hewenden Viaduct.

AirVuz contributor Jabomedia got some perfect timing to film a train crossing England's famous Ribblehead Viaduct.  The The 1.3k ft. (400 m) train bridge opened in 1875 to carry trains across a valley in North Yorkshire, England.  The bridge was one of the key pieces of infrastructure to allow frequent and smooth north-south train passage between the UK regions of England and Scotland.  Like Scotland's Glenfinnan Viaduct (which was built a few decades later), the Ribblehead Viaduct has been seen in numerous movies and TV shows.    

Skydronauts used some amazing post-production editing to create this marvelous drone video of Whitby Abbey, situated in the Yorkshire town of the same name.  This iconic looking town on the coast of Northern England has a long literary history.  Famously, Whitby made a notable appearance in Bram Stoker's classic novel Count Dracula.  Stoker was inspired by the gothic appearance of the town, and in the book the dreaded count from Transylvania strikes Whitby after his ship runs aground there.  

Burton Agnes Hall is a well-known English manor house in the East Riding of Yorkshire, a county in the Yorkshire and Umber region of the UK.  Seen in this drone video by AirVuz contributor Mickey Moo, the Elizabethan style mansion is located near the market town of Driffield about an hour's drive northeast of the city of Leeds.   Burton Agnes Hall was built at the beginning of the 1600's adjacent to the Burton Agnes Manor House (also seen in the video), which dates to the Norman period.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Andrzej Kwasek brings us this excellent drone video of a beautiful spot on the English coast.  Flamborough Head is a peninsula in the North Sea in Yorkshire County.  Running about 8 mi. long (around 13 km), it's a chalk headland between Filey and Bridlington Bays.  Situated astride important shipping lanes, the peninsula has maintained a lighthouse since the late 17th century.  The current structure, which you'll see in the video, was the world's first to use color in its signal.  

Here's a drone video of the beautiful seaside town of Scarborough in northern England, compliments of jonathanrichards.  Scarborough is located on the UK's North Sea Coast in North Yorkshire, at the south end of the North York Moors National Park.  Founded as a harbor town in the Middle Ages, Scarborough is now the most popular seaside destination on the Yorkshire coast.  In recent years, its profile has risen further by appearing on the ITV TV series The Royal and its spinoff The Royal Today.  

Top contributor hamza_mujtaba created this excellent nighttime aerial view of Bradford, one of the main cities in the UK's Yorkshire region.  Located in the county of West Yorkshire, it's part of a metropolitan area that includes Leeds and is the primary urban concentration in Yorkshire.  Bradford came to prominence during the Industrial Revolution, when it became known as the Wool Capital of the World.  In post-industrial England, it's emerged as a major center for filmmaking and other arts.  

Contributor whiterosedrives used a combination of drone and car-mounted (Porsche 911, no less) camera footage to create this video from a famous highland pass in the Yorkshire region of England.  It's called Buttertubs Pass, and it runs through the Yorkshire Dales upland area.  The road has been extensively featured in the very popular BBC TV series Top Gear.  The road gets its name from the giant "potholes" which lie along the side of the road, some of which are as deep as 20 meters (around 66 ft.).  

AirVuz contributor bumblefalconer used a DJI Mavic Mini 2 drone to create this excellent aerial video of the English port town of Whitby.  Situated at the mouth of the River Esk in North Yorkshire, Whitby dates to the 7th century AD.  During the Middle Ages, Whitby became one of the more important North Sea fishing centers, and by the late 18th century it was also one of England's greatest shipbuilding towns.  As its shipping fortunes declined due to the shallow harbor depth, it's evolved into a popular tourist getaway.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Mickey Moo brings us this excellent drone video of Wykeham Abbey, a well-known Georgian style country house in North Yorkshire, England.    The house was built in the 18th century on the site of a Cistercian nunnery called Wykeham Priory, which which dated to the 11th century and had been dissolved in the 1500's.  Since 1909, the home has been the seat of the Viscounts of Downe.  The surrounding estate covers 2.5k acres (a bit over 1k hectares).  

Top AirVuz contributor seb-depp brings us this excellent video of a famous monastery ruins in England called Rievaulx Abbey.  It's located in its namesake town in the North York Moors area of North Yorkshire.  The abbey was founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks.  In the 16th century, it was one of dozens of monasteries dissolved by King Henry VIII as part of the English Reformation.  It was turned over to  manufacturing for a time and then became part of an estate before being restored as a public landmark in the 20th century.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of a church in the Yorkshire region of England, compliments of new AirVuz contributor and pilot reverb2484.  It's called All Saints Church and it's in the town of Laughton en le Morthen in Rotherham in South Yorkshire.  The town was noted in the Domesday Survey of the late 11th century, shortly after the Norman Conquest.  The original church was built in the 10th century, during the Saxon Period; the present structure is the third and dates to the late 14th century.   

Top contributor Hamza Mujtaba teamed up with his friend James Fearnley to create this music video of Fearnley's song "For You".  The music video uses extensive aerial footage from a DJI Mavic Pro drone to supplement the ground cameras, creating the effect of a big budget music video.  It was shot in Bradford, just to the west of Leeds in West Yorkshire.  Both Bradford and Leeds are part of the urban agglomeration known as the West Yorkshire Built-up Area, which is home to about 1.5 million Britons.  

Take in these fantastic drone views of the UK's Humber Bridge, compliments of AirVuz contributor GAME OF DRONES UK.  The bridge spans the Humber River near the city of Kingston-upon-Hill in the Yorkshire region of northeastern England.  With a main span of 1.4k meters (about 4.6k ft.), it was the longest suspension bridge in the world when it opened in 1981, and it remains amongst the world's dozen longest as of 2021.  With a total length of 2.2 km (around 1.3 mi.), the bridge connects the East Riding of Yorkshire with North Lancashire.
