Dagestan, from Deserts to Mountains
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Check out this amazing drone video from the Russian republic of Dagestan, compliments of AirVuz contributor fredo1983. The video opens with shots of the desert-covered portion of the republic, the southernmost Russian province. At the :40 mark, you'll see the wreck of a Lun-class ekranoplan, a "ground effect" craft once used by the Soviet Navy and now grounded on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Other locations include the Tobot Waterfall, as well as the abandoned village of Tobot waterfall Khunzakh Dagestan in the Caucasus Mountains.

The Russian Republic of Dagestan, which translates as "land of the mountains", is situated in Russia's North Caucasus, with Chechnya and Georgia to the west, Azerbaijan to the south and the Caspian Sea to the east. The republic is famous for its ethnic and linguistic diversity, being home to more than 30 languages. My travel buddies and I went on this trip to Dagestan in the last summer, and we were literally mind blown by the variety and the incredible beauty of the landscapes, and by the kindness and hospitality of the people of Dagestan ! If you have the opportunity to visit one day, don't hesitate, just go and enjoy the magical sceneries !
