Hverir, Iceland
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Drone pilot FUNF created this epic aerial video of the mud pits of Hverir, in northern Iceland. The pits are located just of Lake Myvatn in one of the country's most geologically active areas. The spectacular nature of Hverir caught the eye of the producers of HBO's hit series Game of Thrones. It was here where a scene in the premiere episode of Season 3 was filmed: the "blizzard" through which Samwell Tarly wandered was, in reality, the steam created in these spectacular mud pits.

One of my favorite places in Iceland. Looks so otherworldly (and smells quite otherworldly too). Hverir is a geothermal area with at the foothill of Namafjall. Features include colorful sulphurous mud springs, steam vents, cracked mud and fumaroles. It is also called Hverarönd.
