AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Check out this marvelous drone video from Istanbul, Turkey, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Finalist ucarakkesfet. The "star" of the show is Galata Tower, one of the city's most recognized landmarks. Built in the 14th century in the Genoese colony of what was then called Constantinople, the tower stands about 200 ft. (just under 70 m) above the streets. Located near the Golden Horn inlet to the Bosphorus in the heart of the old city, it's one of Istanbul's most popular destinations.

The Galata Tower (or Christea Turris (t"Tower of Christ") is a ver popular symbol of Turkey. This beautiful tower was built in very old times by the rule of the Byzantine Emperor Anastasius, dating back to the year of 528. It has 11 storeys including the basement. It has been renovated nearly 10 times ever since. It is located in Galata (Karaköy) district of Istanbul, Turkey. With an observation top, it is approximately 63 meters. Since its construction, it has been the symbol and such an eye-sight for both tourists and local people. It was built with stones. Hezârfen Ahmed Çelebi, a famous Ottoman scientist, flew from the top of the building to Beyoğlu, nearly traversing 3358 meters, with a pair of manmade unpowered flight wings. It also influenced many Turkish poets and other literature lovers. Despite all the fires and earthquakes it endured during its time, it still stands as beautiful as it was. .
