Mergoscia - Verzasca Dam (Ticino, Switzerland)
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
AirVuz contributor Kpax brings us these beautiful aerial views from the heart of Italian-speaking Switzerland. The video was filmed around the town of Mergoscia, which lies along the Vezasca river a bit upstream of the river's emptying point at Lake Maggiore. In modern times, the town is perhaps best known as the site of the Verzasca Dam, which also features prominently in the video. The dam, which sits just downstream from the town, was the filming location for the epic stunt scene which opened the 1995 James Bond film GoldenEye.

Mergoscia, situated 735 m above sea level, is a popular holiday and excursion destination. Located on a sunny southern slope, Mergoscia counts 200-odd inhabitants and is the starting point for numerous hikes. Even though Locarno and Tenero are only a few kilometres away, Mergoscia is off the beaten tourist track and has largely preserved its character of a typical mountain village of the Verzasca valley.
