The Hidden Mountains
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Top AirVuz contributor and pilot snorrithor brings us this phenomenal DVOW nominated video from a hiking trip in the mountains of Iceland. The video was filmed in the mountainous area around the Katla volcano, near the southern tip of Iceland. The area here is covered by the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. The ice cap covers about 600 square km (around 230 square mi.). Mýrdalsjökull covers the volcano, which last erupted explosively in 1918 but which has had minor eruptions in the interim that didn't break through the ice cover.

Huldufjöll (Hidden Mountains), an incredible mountain range up by the super volcano Katla, in Mýrdalsjökull glacier. I went hiking there a few days ago with 3 of my friends and at the end of the day we had hiked 19 km. We started hiking in the middle of the night to be able to get to the viewpoint up at 750 MSL just before sunrise.
