Wappa Dam & Wappa Falls After Heavy Rain | Cinematic 4K

Experience Wappa Dam and Wappa Falls in cinematic 4K, captured during the early morning on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast hinterland following a week of heavy rain.

In this cinematic drone film, we discover the dramatic scenery of Wappa Dam as it continues to overflow over its spillway, while Wappa Falls carries the increased flow of the South Maroochy River.

The dam’s normally picturesque waters have taken on a muddy brown appearance from runoff, with flood debris scattered across the lake after the recent rainfall.

These changing conditions reveal a different side of Wappa Dam and Wappa Falls, showcasing the power of water and the evolving landscapes of South East Queensland from above.

📍 ABOUT WAPPA DAM & WAPPA FALLS

Located near Yandina in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Wappa Dam is a water supply reservoir on the South Maroochy River. Its ungated spillway allows water to flow over the dam wall when the reservoir reaches its full operating level. Wappa Falls, nearby, is a natural waterfall shaped by the same river system.

Following significant rainfall, these locations can become particularly dramatic, offering a compelling perspective on Queensland’s waterways and natural landscapes. Source: Seqwater
