Whispers of Winter

Nestled right against the bustling metro areas of Salt Lake and Utah counties lies an alpine escape defined by stark, dramatic transitions.  In Utah, the rhythm of the four distinct seasons plays out with breathtaking speed, and nowhere is this more apparent than high in the Wasatch Range.

Shot intirely in the canyons near my home in Cottonwood Heights, Whispers of Winter captures the shifting soul of autumn. The journey begins in the gentle, golden warmth of peak fall foliage, where vibrant canopies blanket the mountainsides. But as the narrative unfolds, the mild weather gives wasy to something far more ominous.  Low-lying clouds roll over the jagged peaks, shadows deepen, and the atmospere thickens with the unmistakable, brooding presence of an incoming winter storm.

These mountains are my backyard.  This project is a visual love letter to the peace, drama, and intense solitude that can be found just a bike ride away from the city grid.  Carrying my gear into the high country on two wheels, I sought to capture the exact moment the vibrant life of qutumn quietly yields to the darkened drama of winter.
