2022: Drone Video of the Week - Episode 52

Legendary first person view (FPV) drone pilot JohnnyFPV has blazed a trail across the FPV world, with his content appearing in TV commercials, music videos, and even feature movies.  All good reasons to check out the latest FPV reel from this talented content creator.  The reel opens with some unbelievable shots bearing down (and under) a rally car, followed by some insane motorycle- and speedboat-chasing.  Other highlights include a skim along a Middle Eastern desert dune, some sailboat racing shots, and a stadium flyover.  

New contributor Chitchai Sripirom brings us this stunning drone video from a famous beach on an island in Southern Thailand.  The beach runs along Maya Bay on the island of Ko Phi Phi Lee, one of the main islands of the Phi Phi Archipelago in the Andaman Sea.  Located southeast of the somewhat better-known island of Phuket, the Phi Phi Islands are part of the province of Krabi.  Along with other spots on the island, Maya Bay was one of the primary filming locations for the 2000 adventure movie the Beach starring Leonard DiCaprio.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist Uglefisk brings us this stunning drone video from Norway.  The video was filmed over the mountains which dot much of this Scandinavian country, and in all four seasons of the year.  At about the 1:01 mark, there's an incredible shot looking over at a paraglider jumping off of a peak.  Further on in the video, you'll soar over a fjord surrounded by snow-capped mountains.  The video was filmed through the length of the country, which includes several different mountain ranges.   

Those who have spent much of 2020-2022 in a reduced-travel or no-travel mode due to the COVID-19 pandemic will be inspired by this fantastic international travel drone reel by top contributor BashirAbuShakra.  The video, which covers four years of solo adventures around the globe, opens with shots of the sand dunes of Brazil's Lençóis Maranhenses National Park.  Starting at about :37, you'll see the Dolomite Mountains in notheastern Italy.  Other highlights include the Matterhorn mountain in Switzerland and the desert of Mongolia.  

Explore some amazing off-the-beaten tracks spots in Italy by drone in this fantastic piece by multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner denisbarbas.  Shot with the new DJI Mini 3 drone, the video will take you over a number of stunning out-of-the-way locations in this diverse country, which has been inhabited for thousands of years.  Highlights include views of quaint coastal towns, villages tucked into mountain valleys, and abandoned hilltop castle towns, all far from the familiar sites of Rome, Venice, and Florence.
