2022 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 2

Every week, our team reviews every video uploaded to the site to pick the Top 5 videos. Then, we name our favorite as our Drone Video of the Week and send that drone pilot $ 250. (The winning video is also then a contender for Drone Video of the Month.) When releasing the new DJI Mavic 3, DJI collaborated with Timelab.pro, one of the world's leading aerial videographers.  The resulting video is absolutely spectacular.  The first part of the video was shot over Turkey: first the "fairy tale" chimneys and hot-air balloons of Cappadocia, followed by the mighty city of Istanbul, where you'll glimpse its famous mosques and bridges.  Then the action shifts several thousand mi/km to the east: to Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, which is famous for its volcanoes and its whale-watching.  

To appreciate how far the world's most talented first person view (FPV) drone pilots have taken their content creation skills, you have to check out this magnificent reel by AirVuz contributor teammistral.  Shot largely in the South of France, the video offers something for everyone.  You'll zip past private jets and supercars, rip through the fabled Orange Vélodrome in Marseille, and fly through a casino.  And that's in the first minute!  Other highlights include race car and yacht chasing, cruising the French Riviera, and more.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner ArturCarvalho brings us this fantastic drone video of the surfing scene in Nazaré, Portugal.  Located about 70 mi. (around 120 km) north of Lisbon in the Centro Region, Nazaré is the home of the Silver Coast, one of the top surfing spots in Europe.  Situated on the open Atlantic Ocean, Nazaré is known for some of the largest waves ever surfed: in early 2018, a Portuguese surfer caught a wave here thought to be as high as 35 meters (over 115 ft.), although that was unverified.  

Check out this highly cinematic first person view (FPV) drone reel by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot matt fpv.   The video features a mix of extremely smooth shots over a variety of natural and man-made terrains in Germany and Italy.  You'll soar over peaks of the Bavarian Alps and the crystal-blue waters of the island of Sardinia, and skim over the fantastic rocky peaks of the Dolomite Mountains in northern Italy.  There are also some incredible "gap" shots as well as some very creative transitions.  

Top AirVuz contributor oculusfilms brings us this fantastic drone video of winter scenes around the world.  Primarily filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, the video captures some epic snow-covered winter wonderlands visited by this globe-trotting content creator.  From the Alps Mountains in Europe to the forests of British Columbia in Western Canada, the video will take you over a series of spectacular winter scenes.  This piece was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest in January, 2022.
