Bangkok is Thailand's largest city as well as its capital.  The city lies in the south of the main (non-peninsular) part of the country, at the head of the Gulf of Thailand.  The skyline of Bangkok has followed its population boom, and it now is one of the more impressive skylines in the world.  In this video, contributor and drone pilot Worldpitou takes us on a tour of this budding world city with a metropolitan population of over 15 million; the aerial views of the city's gleaming  skyscrapers are amazing.

Contributor Roderich used a DJI drone to create this amazing aerial view of the skyline of Bangkok, Thailand at sunset.  While the city is considerably younger than many of the cities in northern Thailand, it has grown into a behemoth.  It's home to over 15 million people, or roughly one in every six people in the country.  Its skyline began to mushroom in the 1990's, and today it rivals Kuala Lampur, Singapore, and other large cities in Southeast Asia.

Given that Thailand has the second largest Buddhist population in the world (after China) it's perhaps not surprising that one of the great landmarks in its capital city would be a temple.  And so it is.  The centuries-old Wat Arun sits in the Bangkok Yai district in the heart of the great city of the same name, a bit downstream from its newer skyscraper-laden areas.  Contributor and drone pilot Roderich gives us this great aerial view of the magnificent Buddhist landmark on the Chao Phraya River.

Contributor Roderich used the vantage point of Bangkok's Benjakiti Park to create this amazing drone video of the Thai capital city's impressive skyline.  With a metropolitan population of over 15 million, Bangkok (as you will see in the video) has built a skyline commensurate with its status as one of the great cities of Asia.  Based on the number of tall buildings, this city on the Chao Phraya is amongst the top 15 cities in the world, just ahead of Toronto and Kuala Lampur as of 2018.

You'll get an amazing bird's eye view of Bangkok's modern central business district by contributor Drone Home.  Shot along the Chao Praya river, which runs through the heart of the Thai capital city, you will see many of the 70 buildings (as of early 2019) of at least 150 meters (around 500 ft.) in height.  As a skyline ranking measure, that puts it at #15 on a worldwide ranking of cities by that measure, ahead of Toronto, Miami, Melbourne, and Houston, among other cities with notable skylines around the world.

As is often the case with river cities, some of the most important landmarks in the Thai capital Bangkok are its bridges.  The burgeoning metropolis is now home to a dozen bridges which span the Chao Praya River running through the middle of the city.  In this video by contributor MHz, you'll get a great aerial view of the Rama IX Bridge beginning at about the :20 mark.  Completed in 1987, it was the city's first cable-stayed bridge. It connects the Yan Nawa and Rat Burana Districts.
