Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is the largest city within the Appalachian region of the USA.  Built on the site of Fort Pitt, the city sits at the point where the Allegheny River joins the Monangahela to form the Ohio.  Pittsburgh rose to prominence as the center of the US steel industry, once the country's biggest economic engine.  Perspectrum used a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this impressive aerial video of the city's skyscrapers, which include the headquarters of US Steel - at one point the world's largest corporation.

Contributor Aerialsbyandre used a DJI Phantom 3 Pro drone to create this nice aerial tour of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  The video opens with a great shot of the Fort Pitt Bridge, perhaps the most distinctive in this river city.  Then it's on to Heinz Field and the Andy Warhol Museum on the north bank of the Allegheny, and from there to the skyscrapers of downtown.  The video ends with a nice "reveal" shot of Point State Park, the triangle shaped bit of land just west of downtown.

First person view (FPV) pilot Angelo Re brings us this unique aerial tour of his home city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  The video was shot while the city was virtually deserted during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2020.  This enabled him to safely garner some unique views of the Steel City's iconic riverfront downtown.  Check out some of Pittsburgh's most well-known sights by FPV, including the Fort Pitt Bridge, Fifth Avenue Place, the Renaissance Hotel, the H. J. Heinz Company complex, and more.

PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is the home of the city's Pittsburgh Pirates Major League Baseball franchise.  The Pirates are one of the oldest teams in baseball, having joined the National League in 1887.  The team played its first season at PNC in 2001, following 30 years at the multi-purpose Three Rivers Stadium which was located nearby, also on the Ohio riverfront.   You can check out the 38,700 seat PNC Park from above in this drone video by Blaze, which was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2.

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Angelo Re combined footage from a DJI Mavic with first person (FPV) footage from a "cinewhoop" style drone to create this marvelous video of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the city "dressed up" for the 2020 Christmas season.  The video opens with a shot of the display at Point State Park, then takes you to the giant Unity Tree on Penn Ave..  Other shots include the Christmas tree in the skating rink at PPG Plaza, the tree in Market Square, and the lights display at the City-County Building.

EdDrone's aerial mini-tour of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania begins with one of its great landmarks - Heinz Field, the home of the 6x Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.  The stadium sits on the Ohio River, right at the point where the great river is born via the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers.  From there you'll be taken over downtown Pittsburgh, which sits just to the east of Point State Park at the "triangle" formed by the three rivers.

Gopherdrone created this aerial video of Pittsburgh's Carnegie-Mellon University.  The university was formed in 1967 when the Carnegie Institute of Technology merged with the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research, in effect uniting the city's two most famous families in a single institution.  Considered one of the top 10-15 research universities in the USA, the school has enrollment of about 14,000 across seven schools.  It's located about 5 km (3 mi.) east of downtown Pittsburgh.

The largely successful transition of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the post-industrial economy has come about in no small measure because of its universities.  The largest and oldest of these is the University of Pittsburgh.  Founded in 1787, its current enrollment is over 28,000.  Gopherdrone created this drone video of the Pitt campus in the city's Oakland neighborhood, including its Gothic Revival style Cathedral of Learning - the tallest educational building in the Western Hemisphere.

Here's an aerial view of the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, compliments of Gopherdrone.  Lying just a few km/mi east of downtown, Oakland is the cultural heart of this river city.  It includes the University of Pittsburgh campus and is just to the west of the Carnegie-Mellon University.  The upscale neighborhood's other landmarks bear the names of Pittsburgh's great industrial titans, such as the Carnegie Museum complex and the Phipps Conservatory in Schenley Park.

With all deference to Gene Kelly, Dan Marino, and even Andrew Carnegie, probably the most famous person to emerge from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was artist Andy Warhol.  The creator of the Pop Art phenomenon was born here in 1928 and educated at Carnegie-Mellon University before decamping for New York.  His Pittsburgh legacy here is symbolized by the Andy Warhol Museum, which opened in the North River area in 1994. You can check it out from above in this drone video by Blaze.

Check out this awesome aerial view of Pittsburgh's Heinz Field, courtesy of contributor and pilot Blaze.  He used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to aerially film the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the 2-3 most storied names in the National Football League.  Opened in 2001 on a site adjacent to the old (multi-purpose) Riverfront Stadium across the Ohio River from downtown, Heinz currently seats 68.4k for football (which also includes the University of Pittsburgh Panthers) and up to 75k for concerts.

Pittsburgh's Carnegie Science Center is one of the city's four Carnegie Museums, a legacy from the great steel baron.  The CSC sits just across the Ohio River from downtown, next to Heinz Field.  It began its life as the Buhl Planetarium (one of the USA's earliest planetariums) and was merged with the Carnegie Institute in the 1980's.  Completed in 1991, the current facility houses not only a state-of-the-art planetarium but also what's believed to be the largest permanent exhibit on robotics.
