Drone Videos of Horses

Patagonia is a region on the southern cone of South America, shared between Argentina and Chile.  Contributor El Gringo Rojo, her two horses, and her dog embarked on a 1.6k km (1k mi) journey down the length of Argentine Patagonia.  The video includes stunning footage of the waterfalls in El Chalten, horseback riding through Bariloche, a hike to the base of the famous Fitz Roy mountain (part of the Andes chain), and more sights from this spectacularly beautiful land.  Prepare to be amazed by these views from the bottom of the earth.

Top contributor Sandrine Hecq ventures around the world creating travel videos for her extensive fan base.  While vlogging on her adventures through Iceland, she made a stop on the way to the Barnafoss Waterfall to meet some new friends — Icelandic horses!  The stout, pony-like horses of Iceland run wild through the surreal landscape where she was able to capture the interaction with her drone. Barnafoss (also known as Barnafossar) is situated near the town of Hraunfossar in the western part of this island nation.  

FlyONE used a drone to create this epic video of horses riding along the shore of Turkey's largest lake.  Lake Van lies in the country's Eastern Anatolian region, not far from the eastern Turkish border with Iran.  The lake covers almost 3.8k square km (just under 1.5k square mi), with a maximum depth of 450 meters (just under 1.5k ft).  It is one of the largest saltwater lakes in the world.  The lake's unique structural features have led to its being closely studied by geologists around the world.

Known as the home of the Mongol Empire, the Central Asian nation of Mongolia is one of the most fascinating places on earth.  AirVuz contributor Michael Roberts traveled the country for three weeks with a DJI Phantom 3 drone filming for a documentary focusing on the changing climate and its effect on Mongolia. He then put together this incredible clip of his favourite aerial footage from the trip, including footage of the Altai Mountains, the Gobi Desert, the capital city of Ulaanbaatar, the Equestrian statue of Genghis Khan, and more.  

Bamburgh is a village off the coast of Northumberland, England. With a population of less than 500, you’re sure to find a wide open beach or two to take your horse out for a ride and watch the sunrise. That is exactly what drone pilot Jamie Dob does in this beautiful drone video of the English coastline. See the sun rise over the calm ocean waters, while the morning glow basks Bamburgh Castle (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1952) in dazzling light. This video was a Drone Video of the Week nominee in May, 2019.

The Sable Island National Park Reserve is one of the natural treasures of Canada's Maritime Provinces.  The park covers its namesake island, which is located about 175 km (around 110 mi.) southeast of mainland Nova Scotia.  The park, which is known for the Sable Island horse, requires permission from Parks Canada to visit; it is otherwise uninhabited except for a handful of government employees.  Seen here in this excellent drone video by Brintonphoto, the park enjoys extensive environmental protection under Canadian federal laws.  

But for the fact that it was filmed with a 21st-century piece of technology, this stunning scene from Central Italy could have taken place hundreds of years ago.  AirVuz contributor and pilot Why Not Channel used a drone to film a group of wild horses atop a small mountain in Umbria, a region which covers the geographic center of the country, northeast of Rome.  One of Italy's most rural regions, Umbria is crossed north to south by the Apennine Mountains, which form the region's naturally boundary with Marche to its east.      

Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean has  something for everyone, including surfers, volcano hikers, and, less well well known, rainforest seekers.  Away from the active volcanoes, much of the island consists of lush dense rainforest landscape, one of the most pristine such environments in the world.  Top contributor Christian Cuvelier used a drone to shoot this memorable aerial video of a group exploring this marvelous island's eastern, rainforest-covered reaches on horseback.    

Check out this stunning drone video from one of Iran's national parks, compliments of contributor and pilot rezarafizadeh.  It's called Bojaq National Park, and it's in the northwestern province of Gilan.  It's part of a narrow coastal plain along the Caspian Sea, which distinguishes the area from the mountainous terrain which covers much of the inland parts of the province.  The video captures a herd of wild horses running over the wide-open landscape.  Gilan is one of the country's 31 provinces.
