An Homage to Milan, Italy - Cinematic 2017/18 Drone Showreel

Milan is the largest city in northern Italy and the second largest overall after Rome.  Milan is the capital of Lombardy,  the region which is home to about one in six Italians and consistently has been the dynamo of the Italian economy (and one of the most important in the EU).  While Rome is Italy's political and cultural capital, Milan is the country's business and financial capital.  Electriclife treats us to this stunning aerial overview of Milano, including footage of La Scala di Milano, the Unicredit Tower, Citylife Milano, and more.

Milan under Covid-19 Quarantine

The Amazing drone flight over the Milan Skyline

The capital of Italy's Lombardy Region, Milan found itself near the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic that ravaged the country in the Spring of 2020.  While the worst hit areas were in the surrounding provinces, Italy's second-largest city saw thousands of infections and its (metropolitan) population of over four million was forced to comply with strict social distancing measures to combat the spread of the deadly virus.  Check out these eerie aerial scenes from the great city under quarantine by AirVuz contributor and pilot davidegalloni.

Milan's Mighty Cathedral

Milano Piazza Duomo

Contributor uploaded this marvelous nighttime drone video of Milan's great Cathedral (Duomo) and the adjacent public square (Piazza).  Completed in the early 19th century after more than 500 years of construction, it's the largest church in Italy proper (which excludes Vatican City) and the third-largest in Europe.  Dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, the Duomo was the subject of Mark Twain's classic 1869 travel book, Innocents Abroad; it was later similarly featured in Henry James' travel book Italian Hours (1909)
