The Kailashnath Mahadev Statue is a new but important Hindu landmark in Nepal. Completed in 2013, the statue is located near the town of Sanga, just a short distance from Kathmandu. The statue stands almost 44 meters (about 144 ft.) tall, and is constructed from concrete, steel, copper, and zinc. It commemorates the Hindu God Lord Shiva, one of the most important deities in the religion. The statue sees about 5,000 visitors every day, many of them there for religious reasons.
