Huesca: Spain Like You've Never Seen

Charly Nam Nam

Check out this amazing drone video from a couple of gorgeous spots in northern Spain.  Agüero is a town in the foothills of the Pyrenees, in the province of Huesca.  Lake Vadiello is also located in the province; the two sites form the top of a triangle with the provincial capital city Huesca occupying the southern point.  The entire area is part of the semi-automous province of Aragon, which covers much of the north central part of the country which was one of the cornerstones of the creation of modern Spain.

The Organs of Montoro (Los Órganos de Montoro) are a group of large limestone rocks in northern Spain.  They are situated near the municipality of Villarluengo in Taruel, one of the three provinces which make up the region of Aragon.  With huge vertical cliffs, the mountains derive their name from their resemblance to musical organ pipes.  In this drone video by Markus Kanal, you'll get an aerial view of these mountains, which have been declared a national monument by Spanish government.

Above Spain: Bardenas Desert to Anisclo Canyon

Featured in Season 6 of the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones," the lunar landscape of Bardenas Reales Natural Park's in Spain's Navarre region was a perfect filming location for the Dothraki's home.  James Bond fans will also recognize the area: it was the site of the "nuclear bunker" in The World is Not Enough (1999), the 21st movie in the series.  Check it out for yourself in this aerial film by Heilongbaixin, which also features footage of the Anisco Canyon in Huesca, which is part of the Aragon region.

Recreation of the Battle of the Ebro

Contributor Sobrevolando created this amazing drone video of a recreation of a famous event in the Spanish Civil War.  During that conflict in the late 1930's, the Ebro River in Aragon and Catalonia was the site of a bloody battle between the warring sides.  On November 16, 1938, the Republican forces who had been on the defensive gave way and were forced back across the river by the Nationalist advance.  This ended the six month Battle of the Ebro, considered the war's decisive campaign.

Old Belchite. Zaragoza. Spain. (1937-2017)

Contributor and drone pilot Ppsanchezf created this drone video of a town in north central Spain which was virtually destroyed during the Spanish Civil War.  Belchite is located in the province of Zaragoza, the middle (north to south) of the three provinces which make up the official region of Aragon.  In August and September of 1937, Nationalist and Loyalist forces fought a battle here which essentially turned Belchite into a ghost town.  A "new" Belchite was subsequently built nearby.

Ordesa Monte Perdido

Contributor Jonatan_Joy created this beautiful drone video of one of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees Mountains.  Monte Perdido is part of the national park of the same name in the province of Huesca, in the region of Aragon.  With a peak elevation of 3.35k meters (just over 11k ft.), it's the third highest mountain in the entire Pyrenees system.  While the mountain's peak is very close to the French border, access to it from France is very difficult due to the presence of some steep intervening mountains.
