Aerial Views of Top Hotels and Resorts

Qasar Al Sahab is a five-star resort in the heart of the Middle Eastern desert.  It's in the United Arab Emirates, not far from the city of Dubai.  Top contributor Fabio Knoll created a stunning drone video of the recently built resort.  The property is situated at the edge of the Empty Quarter, which covers roughly the southern third of the Arabian Peninsula and is the largest uninterrupted area of desert in the entire world.  This area achieved a degree of fame by appearing as the planet Jakku in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).

Amongst the many resorts and hotels in Hawaii, the Ritz-Carlton on Maui is considered one of the 2-3 best.  It's located on the northwestern shore of the island.  The hotel is part of a resort complex called Kapalua, which was built on an area of pineapple fields.   In addition to some of Hawaii's finest beaches, the Kapalua site includes Puʻu Kukui, a peak which is part of the West Maui Mountains.  You can check out this five star property from above in this drone video by contributor @joeynagrath.  

Valparaiso is Chile's second largest city, lying on the Pacific Coast of the country roughly 100 km (60 mi) to the northwest of the capital and principal city Santiago.  Valparaiso's winebox hotel may enjoy the distinction of being the world's only hotel made of recycled materials.  Contributor Absafilms used a drone to create an amazing aerial video of this highly unusual lodging.  The city continues to be an important shipping center, at one point having the nickname Little San Francisco.  

Aerialfilmsmia created this beautiful drone video of the Biltmore Hotel in South Florida, one of the country's most well known lodgings.  Built in 1926, it's located in the community of Coral Gables, south of an inner suburb just south of Miami.  It was, for at least a time, the tallest building in Miami and home to the world's largest swimming pool.  It went into decline after World War II and ceased to be a hotel a number of years, re-entering the hotel business in 1987 as the fortunes of the area improved.  

Check out this stunning drone video of a famous ultra-luxury resort in the southern part of Turkey.  The Mardan Palace resort in Turkey's Antalya province had a star-studded grand opening in 2009.   And well it should have: with a reported cost of $1.4 billion, the 560 room property is believed to be the most expensive in history on a per-room basis.  Unfortunately, the roughly $2.5 million cost per room made the initial investment uneconomic, and the hotel was sold in 2015 for a fraction of its original cost.  

Mauritius is an Indian Ocean island paradise.  Consisting of one main island and several smaller ones, it sits several hundred km east of the island nation of Madagascar.  Contributor Travelers to Mauritius have their pick of five star resorts, but one of the finest may be the Intercontinental Hotel.  In this video, you will be treated to a bird's eye view of this marvelous resort property on the torquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, in the heart of one of the world's emerging top beach destinations.

Johannesburg is by far the largest city in South Africa, with a metro population of nearly 10 million.  It is located in the northeastern part of the country, in the province of Guateng.  While it offers many lodging accommodations, perhaps the finest hotel in the city is the Westcliffe, a Four Seasons Hotel.  Contributor Riseaboveearth used a DJI Inspire 1 drone to create a captivating aerial video of this five star property in the city considered to be the center of the worldwide gold and diamond industry.

Without doubt, one of the finest hotel properties in Hawaii is the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai.  It is situated in the historic town of Kaupulehu, on the Kohala (northwestern) coast of the island of Hawaii, aka the "Big Island".  Opened in 1996, it's the only five-star (per AAA) resort on the island, and one of only four in the state of Hawaii.  Top contributor iDrone Aerials collaborated with the property's owner to create this magnficent aerial/ground tour of the resort and the surrounding area.  

Top contributor LA_Drones collaborated with one of the top resorts on the tropical Indonesian island of Bali to create this awesome aerially-focused travel video.  The Anantara resort is situated in the area of Seminyak, the top beach town at the southern end of Bali's main island.  It's on the western side of the island, just west of the capital city Denpasar.  The Seminyak area is home to some of the top resorts in Bali, one of the Lesser Sunda chain of islands which extends east of Java in southern Indonesia.  

Vietnam's Hoàng Liên National Park lies in the country's mountainous northwestern corner, in the province of Lai Châu.  While there are several lodging options for visitors here, one of the most popular is the Topas Ecolodge, which is located right in the park.  Contributor Sandrine Heq, who ventures around the world to make travel videos that include extensive drone footage, created this stunning video of the park the lodge.  The video was voted a Drone Video of the Week winner in June, 2018.

Cabo San Lucas is a resort town located at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula.  Cabo has something to offer everyone, from beachgoers to kite surfers, fishermen, off-road adventurers, and cruise ship passengers.  Contributor Douglas Thron used a drone to capture Cabo's flavor from a high end resort on the beach.  The bird's eye views of this beach paradise will help you understand why it is one of the most popular vacation spot in a country which is full of world-class beach destinations.

Top content creator and drone pilot Inigui attended a bachelor party at the Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic.  The resort was built out of a large sugar cane farm in the southeastern part of the country in the 1970's.  Inigui's drone video will give you a bird's eye look at this famous resort on the Caribbean, which was built by the Gulf & Western conglomerate and was designed by the famous designer Oscar de La Renta.  Its golf course is usually ranked amongst the top 50-100 in the world.

Sitting just across the Intracoastal Waterway from the larger city of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Florida is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States.  The oldest and most fashionable hotel in Palm Beach is the Breakers, a 538 room lodging built by oil and railroad tycoon (and John D. Rockefeller Standard Oil partner) Henry Flagler in 1896.  Top contributor Queen of the Drone treats us to a spectacular aerial tour of this magnificent hotel on one of America's most exclusive beaches.

One of the things which makes the Indonesian province of Bali a world-class travel destination is the range of high-end lodging options available.  For those wishing to avoid the larger resorts, Bali offers much more intimate settings that still leave nothing to be desired comfort-wise.  In this video by jantrnkaproductions, you'll get a virtual tour of the Didori Villa in Ubud.  Located in the interior of the island, the villa offers marvelous views (and close access) to Ubud's famous rice terraces and other cultural landmarks.  

Myriad by SANA is one of the finest hotels in Lisbon, Portugal.  The ultra-modern, five star property is situated overlooking the Tagus River, a bit upstream (northeast) of the center city, just south of the western terminus of the Vasco de Gama Bridge.  It has 186 rooms, including a number of luxury suites.  Its distinctive design includes a sail sculpture which symbolizes Portugal's great Age of Exploration.  In this fantastic drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot flyhmydr8ne, you'll get an aerial view of this landmark property.  

The stretch of Mediterranean coastline near the southern Turkish city of Antalya has become home to some of the most expensive resort properties in the world.  In this drone video by antalyaaerial, you'll get a bird's eye view of the Maxx Royal Belek Golf Resort, one of the more well-known five star resorts in the area.  It's located in Serik, a bit under 40 km (around 28 mi.) east of the city (and  provincial capital) of Antalya.    It's considered one of the finest resort properties on the famed Turkish Riviera.

Contributor and pilot Ronny Browers runs one of the world's premier aerial travel video companies Drone Heroes, he is based out of the Netherland’s but spends much of his time in Southeast  Asia. In this video, which was produced with both drone and ground camera footage, he gives us an inside look at the Grand Hyatt Bali.  This five star property is located towards the north end of Nusa Dua Beach, which runs along the southeastern part of the island and is considered one of the world's finest beaches.  

With over 7,000 islands in the Philippines, it's probably not surprising that some of them are quite small - small enough to be a private resort.  Here is one of them.  It's called Lakawon Island, which is situated off the western coast of the island of Negros in the central Philippines.  It's only 32 acres, but as you'll see from this drone video by dROneY that's plenty of island when it's all one resort.  The white sand beaches here compare favorably to the best that legendary spots like Boracay have to offer.  

Tensing Pen is a famous resort in Jamaica. It's located in Negril, the main beach community on the western side of the island.  Negril was somewhat slower to develop as a Jamaican destination; its development began when a modern road was built to Montego Bay (to its northeast) in the 1950's.  As seen in this drone video by AnDroneMeda One, Tensing Pen was built in the early 1970's and has been renovated several times since; it's located on a small peninsula just south of the now-famed Seven Mile Beach. 

Check out this amazing drone video of one of the top resorts in the Mexican beach town of Cancun, compliments of contributor and pilot Travel Droner.  The resort is situated near the south end of the main hotel zone, near Punta Zinuc.  It makes for a much more secluded feel compared to what is on offer with the larger resorts to the north.  When you watch the video of this stunning property, you will see why the influential magazine Travel + Leisure named Nizuc one of the world's top 100 hotels in 2018.  

Check out this visually stunning look at the city of Atlantic City, New Jersey being overtaken by a cloud formation at sunset.  Situated near the middle of the stretch of Atlantic Ocean coastline known as the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City evolved from a beach getaway to the gambling capital of the USA's East Coast.  The video brilliantly shows the newest and most prominent addition to the cityscape: the Ocean Resort Casino.  Opened in 2012 at a cost of $2.4 billion, it filed for bankruptcy two years later.    

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Chris Borg created this excellent travel video from the fabled Greek island of Santorini.  He collaborated with the Oia Sunset Villas, an accommodation property in the town of Oia on the northwestern tip of the roughly crescent-shaped island, the southernmost member of the Cyclades group of islands in the country's South Aegean region.  As you'll see from the video, the villas provide a perfect vantage point for soaking up the sights of this idyllic island destination.     

Content creator and drone pilot Sandrine Hecq is one of the top travel vloggers; and she has created a huge following for her videos which mix drone and ground camera footage of exotic spots.  In this video, she takes us high above the Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Resort in the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.  Long piers are lined with romantic huts that hover over the crystalline sea, where visitors relax and enjoy the tropical views including dolphins. This remote island paradise is quite the sight from above.

Pemba is an island which is part of Tanzania's Zanzibar archipelago in the Indian Ocean.  It lies north and a bit east of the larger island of Unguja, off the northernmost part of the mainland coast.  Home to some of the best fishing waters in the Indian Ocean, Pemba is also known for its hilly terrain and significant agricultural cultivation.  In this drone video by Hofcut, you'll get a nice aerial tour of the area around the Manta Resort, which is located near the tip of a peninsula on the northern end of the island.  

Top first person view (FPV) pilot NonexistentJay created this outstanding video as a promotional piece for the Azulik Resort, a high-end property in Tulum, Mexico.  Set in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, the resort celebrates the native culture through food, apparel shops, and art.  The video is a great example of how talented FPV pilots are using their quads to showcase vacation destinations.  This video was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest and also made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in late December of 2021.  

The Maldives has become a popular beach destination not only because of its legendary sandy beaches and torquoise waters, but also because of the accommodations available there.  The country's tourism business has fed on a series of luxury resorts which have been built across its atolls, over two dozen groupings totalling hundreds of islands.  In this video, top contributor and drone pilot Veerdonkvisuals takes us on an aerial tour of, the Angsana Velavaru, a luxury resort on the Velavaru Reef.

First person view (FPV) drone video footage is increasingly being incorporated into mainstream advertisements and promotional videos.  For a great example of this phenomenon, check out this fantastic piece by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot vitopulverenti.   He worked with the National Collegiate Athletic Association to create a promotional video for the 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament.  He filmed the JW Marriott Hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana, host city of the storied tournament's "Final Four" games. 

Costa Rica's eastern (Caribbean Sea) coastline is full of amazing tropical beaches, many of which compare well with the best of the Caribbean island beaches.  One of CR's best is around Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, a town near the southern end of the country's Caribbean (eastern) coastline.  In this drone video, contributor Marco G. Lerin provides a great bird's eye view of the Cariblue Resort, a great luxury lodging option for travelers seeking a relaxing stay in this beautiful seaside town.    

The Mayia Exclusive Resort & Spa is one of the top lodging properties on the Greek island of Rhodes.  Located on the island's southeastern coast, the resort was temporarily closed when a series of wildfires raged out of control in late July of 2023, forcing the evacuation of thousands of tourists and residents on the isand's eastern side.  AirVuz contributor Devenox Drones created this outstanding drone video of the resort just before the onset of the fires.  The five star property re-opened in early August of 2023.

See the stunning and exotic Thavorn Beach Village Resort & Spa in Kamala Beach on the island of Phuket, Thailand from above in this drone video by hyatt_films. This special Director’s Cut of the property was shot on the Fujifilm XT3, DJI Mavic Pro 2 and Inspire 2 with the Zenmuse X7. Phuket is known for its beaches, the most well known of which are situated along the western shore of the island. The high-end Andaman Sea seaside resorts, spas and restaurants are all favorites amongst travelers here.  

Check out this stunning drone video of the world's largest swimming pool, compliments of contributor Volare Video.  The pool at the San Alfonso del Mar resort in central Chile was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest pool when it was completed in 2006.  It's situated in the town of Algarrobo, a bit over an hour's drive west of Santiago.  The pool is over 1,000 meters (about 3.3k ft.) long, and it holds a quarter billion (with a "b") gallons of H20, about 66 million gallons.  

Get a unique pespective of a famous casino in this outstanding first person view (FPV) fly-through by AirVuz contributor BlazeAir.  The footage was captured in the course of producing a promotional video for the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic Casino, New Jersey.  Created with a "cinewhoop" style FPV quad that can (with an experienced pilot) safely flown indoors and in proximity to people, the video will take you through this giant property on the city's famed Boardwalk, which was originally the Trump Taj Mahal when it opened in 1990. 

Malaysia's state of Perak is in the northwest of the country's peninsular section - ie, the portion of the country lying on the Malay Peninsula on the mainland of Southeast Asia.  The coastal parts of the state feature beautiful white sand beaches and islands dotted about in the Straits of Malacca.  Among the many resorts which have spring up in Perak, the best may be Pangkor Laut Resort on the tiny Pangkor Laut Island.  See it from the air courtesy of contributor Alexpixelcam and his DJI Mavic Pro drone.

Phú Lộc is a rural district of Thừa Thiên–Huế,  one of the provinces which make up the North Central Coast region of Vietnam.  Situated along the South China Sea (which is considered an extension of the Pacific Ocean), it's a picturesque place for a relaxing vacation like the one drone pilot Mattcoq took over the Chinese New Year. Check out the aerial views of the beautiful beaches and water surrounding the exotic vacation homes.  The video was shot with the DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.  

Contributor and pilot 65photocinema8 created this beautiful drone video of a resort on an island in the Gulf of Thailand.  The Gajapuri Resort is located on Ko Chang Island, which lies off of Thailand's eastern seaboard in the province of Trat.   Depending on the method of enumeration, Ko Chang is either the country's second largest island (after Phuket) or its third largest (after Phuket and Ko Samui).  Its name translates to "Elephant Island" in reference to its elephant shaped headland.  

If you are thinking of taking a trip to Iran, you will definitely want to check out this drone video of an antique hotel in the center of the country, compliments of contributor @VanSleepers.  It's called the Malek-o Tojar Antique Hotel, and it's in an ancient mansion in the provincial capital city of Yazd.  The 23 room hotel is in the heart of the old city, which is renowned for its unique Persian architecture and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  The city is about 625 km (around 380 mi.) southeast of Tehran.  

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot zhoucreative brings us this fantastic FPV video using footage he shot for the 27th Critics' Choice Awards, which was held at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles in March of 2022.  The famously crescent-shaped hotel is one of the landmarks of Century City, a sort of "satellite" downtown (and one-time 20th Century Fox backlot) on LA's West Side which is considered the epicenter of the city's entertainment industry.  This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list.  

The area of lakes around Brainerd in north-central Minnesota has emerged as one of the prime "cabin" type destinations in the Midwestern USA.  The epicenter of the district is Gull Lake, which is located northwest of Brainerd and is the largest lake in the region. It's home to many hundreds of lakeside homes as well as 19 resorts as of mid-2019.  In this drone video by BlazeAir, you'll get a bird's eye view of one of Gull's most well-known resorts: Cragun's, which is located on a southeastern extension of the lake. 

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot 11 Shots Media brings us this fantastic drone tour of the Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort on the Caribbean island of Curaçao.  The five-star property is situated on the southwestern coast of the island, which is the "C" in the so-called "ABC Islands" which also include Aruba and Bonaire.  Recently completed, it's the largest resort on the island.  In addition to pristine white-sand beaches, spa cabanas, and multiple swimming pools, the resort also features a full aquatic park.  

Take in these marvelous aerial views of the great Mexican beach city of Cancun, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot CHARLYdrone.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic Air drone, the video was primarily shot over the Beach Palace Hotel.  The luxury, 285 room all-inclusive property is located about a third of the way down the Hotel Zone, the "seven" shaped stretch of coastline which lies to the southeast of the city and which is home to the country's largest concentration of beach hotels and resorts.  

Prepare to be amazed by this incredible "cinewhoop" style first person view (FPV) drone tour of a luxury resort in Turkey by top contributor Ivan Merino.  The luxury suites are built into one of the "fairy tale" rock formations in the Cappadocia area in the center of the country.  In a single shot, you'll fly into the front door of one of the suites, fly over the first floor whirlpool, cuise up the stairs for a view of the second floor, and exit a window.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October, 2021.  

Portonovi is a luxury resort under construction in Montenegro in Southeastern Europe.  It's situated on Boka Bay, an inlet leading to Kotor Bay in the northwestern part of the country.  With 238 berths in its marina for visiting boats, it is expected to become one of the prime destinations for the rapidly growing Adriatic Sea yachting community.  In this drone video by jasa.jovicevic, you'll get a bird's eye view of this five star property as it is taking shape.  The resort is expected to open in the Spring of 2020.    

Check out this drone video of the world's first guitar-shaped hotel, compliments of contributor and pilot bluesky305.  It's the Hard Rock Hotel on South Florida's Gold Coast, which opened in the Fall of 2019.  The hotel is situated in the town of Hollywood (not to be confused with the California village of the same name) which lies between Miami to the south and Ft. Lauderdale to the north.  The project is an addition to the existing Hard Rock complex here, one of two in the Sunshine State along with Tampa.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner iDrone Aerials brings us this fantastic drone video of a luxury hotel property on the Caribbean island of Anguilla.  The video was filmed at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla, a five-star resort complex located on the northern side of the long peninsula which makes up the southwestern part of the island.  A British Overseas Territory, Anguilla is one of the Leeward Islands, a group of islands which form an arc from the Virgin Islands and extending east and southeast to Guadeloupe.    

Aix-les-Bains is a fabled spa town in the French Alps.  It lies on the shores of Lake Bourget, France's largest glacial lake.  The second largest town in the Savoie Department, Aix-les-Bains was one of the most fashionable getaway destinations in France in the years leading up to World War I.  In this drone video by Cedric Vilella, you'll get a great tour of the Hôtel les Suites du Lac, a luxury property which sits right on the shores of the lake in this storied town which is also known for its annual music festival.  

Contributor Travel Droner flew his drone over 2 km (around 1.3 mi.) across Samaná Bay in the northern Dominican Republic to capture this epic view of a tiny island resort run by Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts.  The island is called Cayo Levantado, but it goes by another name: Bacardi Island.   The tiny islet, which sits between the  Samaná Province and the mainland, is used by the spirits giant to film commercials.  Watch the video and you'll understand what caught Bacardi's attention! 

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Olivier Goarant brings us this excellent first person view (FPV) drone tour of a luxury resort property on Mexico's Mayan Riviera.  The video opens with some nice outdoor "establishing" shots, showing the resort's setting on the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.  Then you'll be taken down closer to ground level to see the hotel's expansive pool system and gardens, and will be taken inside the property.  The video was filmed with a DJI Avata drone.  

Travel + Leisure has told us that the famous Guitar Hotel (aka the Hollywood Hardrock Casino) is a bucket list destination, but how many of us really get to see it all up close and personal like FLIP MODE FPV's drone has?  The iconic hotel in south Florida became a freestyle diving playground for this pilot who's clearly put his time into perfecting these acrobatic plunges (was that a backwards dive?), and trust us, the FPV community took notice.  So did we...nice job on making our February 7, 2020 FPV Pilots to watch list, FLIP MODE FPV!

Take a drone tour of one of the most luxurious lodging properties on the Greek island of Rhodes, compliments of contributor Devenox Drones.  It's called the Boutique 5 Hotel & Spa, and it's located on the southeastern shore of the island, the largest of the Dodecanese archipelago which lies off the coast of Turkey in the eastern Aegean Sea.   The boutique five-star hotel offers 44 suites and rooms and is open only to adult travelers.  It's located near the village of Kiotari, about three-quarters of the way down the eastern coastline.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Peter31Scott brings us this excellent aerial view of a lodging property on Lake Sevan in Armenia.  The Sevan Writers House overlooks the giant lake, which covers over 1.2k square km (almost 500 square mi.) and is the largest in the entire Caucasus region.  One of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world, it's one of the region's top vacation destinations.  The lake covers almost 1/6 of the territory of Armenia, which was a Soviet republic prior to the dissolution of the USSR in the early 1990's.  

Hapimag Resort Bodrum is an upscale vacation getaway on Turkey's famed Aegean Sea coastline. The unique venue, which can be seen in this drone video by contributor and pilot  dronesantana007, boasts 5 pools, 3 beaches, 12 restaurants, and even a little village for guests nestled between the turqoise waters of the Aegean Sea and an evergreen pine grove. Bodrum is one of the prime beach towns in Turkey's Aegean Region; it's situated in the province of Muğla near the southwestern "corner" of the country.  

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic is one of the top resort properties in this subtropical paradise of the Caribbean Sea.  The hotel is located near the northern end of the Punta Cana resort zone at the eastern end of the island, facing the Atlantic Ocean.  In this drone video by AirVuz contributor Nareg, you will get an aerial view of this 4.5 star property, which boasts almost 1.8k rooms and no fewer than 13 swimming pools.  It's also a short drive from the Cana Bay Golf Club and Punta Blanca Golf Course.  

The versatility of "cinewhoop" style first person view (FPV) mini-drones is increasingly leading them to be used in videos promoting hotel and lodging properties.  With their indoor/outdoor capability, they are perfect for making the unique perspective of flying through the front door and taking a tour of the inside.  This piece by AirVuz contributor L. Morandini is a great example of the emerging genre.  Shot at the famous Grand Hotel Mont Blanc in the French Alps, this video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in February, 2021.  

Talented content creator and first person view (FPV) pilot Ivan Merino earned himself another spot on the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list with this fantastic "cinewhoop" style piece filmed at a luxury resort in Mexico.  The video was shot in the Presidential Suite at the Hotel Beló Isla Mujeres.  The hotel features 70 rooms in a beachfront property on Isla Mujeres, a small island off the Yucatán Peninsula near the storied beach city of Cancun.  The island is about five km (around seven mi.) long but only 2k ft. (around 600 meters) wide. 

Didori Villa is nestled on the edge of a small Balinese village surrounded by rice fields near the upland town of Ubud.  Advertised as a spiritual and tranquil haven, top contributor jantrnkaproductions collaborated with the resort management to create this marvelous travel video which incorporates both ground camera and drone footage.  The villa was used in the filming of the 2010 movie “Eat, Pray, Love” starring Julia Roberts, a screenplay adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's bestselling memoir.
