Harvard University is the USA's oldest institution of higher learning and is generally regarded as the world's most prestigious.  Its main campus is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, just west of Boston.  Founded in 1636, Harvard's enrollment of about 22k is roughly 30% undergraduate.  In recent decades, much of the growth of campus has been on the far (southern) bank of the Charles River, in the Allston neighborhood of Boston.  Check out the famous campus from above in this drone video by pilgrimdroner.

Contributor Vicvideopic created this amazing drone video of what is perhaps the world's most famous university town: Oxford, England.  It's the home of Oxford University, which dates to the 11th century AD and is the world's second-oldest institution of higher learning.  Comprised of 38 individual colleges, Oxford is amongst the 4-5 most well-regarded universities in the world.  The video captures footage of this beautiful campus scene, located about 80 km (around 50 mi.) west of London.

Contributor and drone pilot Chris Bonanno used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to shoot this aerial video of the campus of Princeton University in New Jersey.  Located roughly midway between New York and Philadelphia, Princeton was founded by Presbyterians in 1746 and is a proud member of the Ivy League.  In recent years, Princeton has dominated the  US News annual ranking of national universities, appearing #1 18 times in 20 years.  The campus was immortalized in alumnus F. Scott Fitzgerald's debut novel, This Side of Paradise (1920).

Check out this drone video of the Yale University campus in New Haven, Connecticut, compliments of contributor and pilot pilgrimdroner.  Founded in 1701, Yale is the USA's third-oldest institution of higher learning.  Originally affiliated with the Congregationalist Church, it moved beyond its original undergraduate focus beginning in the mid-1800's and awarded the first PhD in the USA in 1861.  Its enrollment of about 13.4k is a bit over 50% graduate and professional school students.

Caldroneflyer brings us an aerial look at one of the world's most famous universities.  Stanford University is in Palo Alto, California, about 45 minutes south of San Francisco.  It was founded in 1891 by railroad magnate Leland Stanford.  While considerably younger than most of its  East Coast competitors, it is nonetheless considered one of the top half-dozen research universities in the world.  Watch the video to get bird's views of Hoover Tower, the Quad, and other sights on its 8k acre campus.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or "MIT" for short, is one of the world's top science and engineering universities.  Founded in 1861 as an institution devoted to the advancement of technological progress, it's situated across the Charles River from Boston in the town of Cambridge, just a km/mi. downriver from the Harvard University campus.  In this drone video by contributor Chris Bonano, you'll get a bird's eye view of the MIT campus.  The video was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.

The California Institute of Technology (known informally as Caltech) is one of the world's most well-regarded research universities. It's situated in Pasadena, northeast of downtown Los Angeles.  As of late 2018, the school's alumni and faculty include an incredible 73 Nobel laureates.  While Caltech has historically kept a fairly low profile, its appearance on the hit comedy Big Bang TV series has elevated awareness of the school.  You can see the Caltech campus from above in this video by Mavictraveler.

Contributor Chris Bonano used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this mini-aerial tour of Columbia University in New York City.  The university was founded in 1754 as King's College.  A member of the Ivy League, Columbia is considered one of the top 8-10 research universities in the USA, and its professional schools are amongst the best in their respective fields.  With a total enrollment of about 33k (of whom about 25% are undergraduates), its campus is located just north of Central Park on the West Side of Manhattan.

Here's an aerial view of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, compliments of Blaze.  Founded in 1764, it's the seventh-oldest institution of higher learning in the USA and a member of the Ivy League.  While the school's roots are tied to the American Baptist Church, it was the first college to remove religious affiliation as criteria for admission.  Sitting on a 143 acre campus east of downtown Providence, Brown currently has a student body of about 10.3k, of which roughly 70% are undergraduate.

Haverford College is one of the USA's top private liberal arts schools; in 2019, it was tied for the #11 spot in the US News & World Report annual rankings for undergraduate-oriented liberal arts colleges.  The school is located in the town of the same name in the heart of the Main Line suburban area northwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The college was founded in 1833 by a Quaker group, althoyugh Haverford no longer has any religious affiliation.  Its student body numbers about 1,350.

Contributor Patrick_Nye used a drone to create this bird's eye tour of the University of Texas at Austin, the main campus of the UT system and one of the largest in the world.  The campus is visually dominated by its nearly 100 meter (about 300 ft.) Main Building.  Known as The Tower, it was the site of one of the earliest instances of a mass shooting in the USA: in 1966, an ex-marine sniper perched on the observation deck shot 16 bystanders to death and injured dozens more before being killed by police.

University campus buildings are often beautiful but they seldom dominate the landscape with their height.  Not so the Main Building of Moscow State University, in the Russian capital city.  Its construction was directed by Joseph Stalin, who died the same year that the building was completed - 1953.  With a rooftop height of just over 180 meters (just under 600 ft.), it's the tallest educational building in the world.  Here it is via drone, compliments of contributor and drone pilot Teckatlipoka.

Wuhan University is one of China's oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning.  Founded in 1893, it's located in the heart of the capital city of Hubei, an interior province which is part of the historical region known as Central China.  Consistently ranked amongst the country's top half-dozen schools, WHU has an academic staff of over 7k and an enrolled student body of just under 60k.  Seen here in this drone video by new contributor how.chou, its campus is often considered China's most beautiful.

The largely successful transition of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the post-industrial economy has come about in no small measure because of its universities.  The largest and oldest of these is the University of Pittsburgh.  Founded in 1787, its current enrollment is over 28,000.  Gopherdrone created this drone video of the Pitt campus in the city's Oakland neighborhood, including its Gothic Revival style Cathedral of Learning - the tallest educational building in the Western Hemisphere.

Check out this drone video of the University of Denver, compliments of contributor Blaze.  DU is the oldest private university in the USA's Rocky Mountain region: it was founded in 1864, more than a decade before Colorado achieved statehood.  Located a few minutes south of downtown, the DU campus is home to some of Denver's most historic buildings.  The university had total enrollment of about 11.6k students as of 2019, split roughly evenly between its undergraduate and graduate/professional programs.

Check out this fantastic drone video of Europe's largest university devoted to business and economics, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Winner smakozawr.  He aerially filmed the new campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, which was built in the early 2010's on a site on the left bank of the Danube River, just downriver from central Vienna.  Founded in 1898 to foster the creation of a professional business class in what was then Austria-Hungary,  the university has an enrollment of about 24k students.

AirVuz contributor Chrisky brings us this outstanding aerial tour of the campus of Yonsei University in Incheon, South Korea.  With campuses in both Incheon and nearby Seoul, Yonsei is one of the three SKY Universities, along with Seoul National University and Korea University; these are considered to be the three most prestigious post-secondary institutions in the country.  Yonsei was established in 1957 via the union of Yonhi College and Severance Union Medical College.  It currently maintains total enrollment of about 38k studends.

The University of Colorado's flagship campus is in Boulder, an outer suburb Denver.  Founded in 1876, the school currently has about 33k students enrolled, of which about 80% are undergraduate.  The school's athletic teams play as the Colorado Buffalos, which competes in the PAC-10 league of the NCAA.  UC's beautiful campus south of the Pearl Street Mall has turned Boulder into one of the USA's most idyllic college towns.  Check out the UC-Boulder campus from above in this drone video by Blaze.

Contributor Tarcy_Vision gives us this awesome aerial view of Temple University in the Mid-Atlantic city of Philadelphia.  Founded in 1884, it's one of the largest universities in Pennsylvania.  It's located in a neighborhood of North Philadelphia, more or less equidistant from the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers.  Its extensive professional schools graduate a large number of lawyers, pharmacists, engineers, and other professionals, many of whom find jobs in the Philadelphia area.

Contributor Will_and_Blake used a DJI Inspire drone to create this incredible epic aerial tour of the University of Kansas at Lawrence.  The flagship campus of the University of Kansas system, the university (including its two satellite campuses) had enrollment of just under 30,000 students as of the Fall of 2018.  In addition to being a major research university, KU-Lawrence is an athletic powerhouse; among numerous other honors, it's won three NCAA men's basketball championships.

Contributor Chris Bonanno used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this aerial tour of the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus.  Sometimes referred to simply as UMass, its the main campus of the University of Massachusetts system.  Situated in the town of Amherst about two hours west of Boston, the university has a student body of about 30k spread across nine schools.  In the 2019 US News & World Report college rankings, UMass was ranked #70 for all national universities and #26 for public schools.

Xiamen University is a top post-secondary educational institution in Southeastern China.  It's located at the south end of Xiamen Island, in the Fujian Province.   Established in 1921, the school currently enrolls about 21k students.  It's one of 36 universities classified as "Double A" under the central government's Double First-Class initiative to create a world-class secondary education system.  Seen here in this drone video by how.chou, the university's beautiful campus is a popular tourist attraction on the island.

Contributor mavictraveler used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this aerial tour of the University of Missouri's flagship campus.  With enrollment of just over 30k, it's located in Columbia, near the middle of the state.  Sometimes called Mizzou, it's home to the Missouri School of Journalism, one of the best-regarded journalism schools in the USA.  The campus was the setting for John Williams' 1965 novel Stoner, widely considered to be one of the greatest works of fiction depicting academic life.
