PILOTS TO WATCH - 03/27/20

AirVuzFPV...

Each and every week brings a new wave of fantastic FPV videos to AirVuz, and we have the fun job of watching it all to share the best of the best with our enthusiastic AirVuz community.  We take our sweet time to then pick a short list of FPV pilots to feature each week, and we pack them into this cool reel because those we select are no doubt committed, talented, and they share their wares here on AirVuz (this is where the best FPV footy lives, after all).  So be a sport and *show your support* with a Like, Comment, and a Follow.

SANDSCAPE - Johnny FPV

JohnnyFPV...

Johnnyfpv is the undisputed king of the emerging art form known as cinematic first person view (FPV) video.  In contrast to freestyle FPV or competitive FPV racing, with cinematic FPV the pilot's goal is to maximize the visual impact of the video captured.  In this he has succeeded spectacularly; his work has appeared in TV commercials, music videos, and feature movies, and he has one of the largest social media followings of any drone pilot.  Check out his latest video, which was shot in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Escape From Quarantine

Tomz FPV...

Team AirVuz pilot Tomz made the wise decision to channel his pent up energy and make a cruise around the brilliantly blue waters off of Greece.  While a quarantine may keep the humans at home, or at the very least - politely socially distant - it certainly doesn't mean FPV drones like those of Tomz can't be in the air.  This pilot consistently cranks out incredible freestyle flights, and you just have to check out his AirVuz profile to see why this pilot also consistently makes it onto our FPV Pilots to Watch list.

Beautiful Phang Nga (Thailand)

Livyu FPV...

With its stunning limestone islands that rise almost vertically out of the sea, Thailand's Phang Nga Bay is home to some of the most iconic scenery in Southeast Asia.  Situated between the island of Phuket and the mainland of the Malay Peninsula, this inlet of the Andaman Sea "played the role" of Planet Kashyyyk in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).  Check out the famous bay from a totally new perspective in this first person view (FPV) video by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Livyu FPV.

A DAY ON THE HUDSON - CINEMATIC FPV FREESTYLE

elbuhofpv...

This exellent video by first person view (FPV) pilot elbuhofpv will give you a new perspective of the great city of New York, which went into near-lockdown in the second half of March, 2020 as it became the US epicenter of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.  Showing the city in the happier times before the storm hit, he was able to film a pair of jetskiers plying the waters that surround Lower Manhattan.  Check it out for some epic views of the city's skyline from the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and more.

TO THE OTHER SIDE - FPV Cinematic

Parasite F...

Experts say exposure to nature boosts our happiness and benefits both our physical and mental health (especially in a time of quarantine), but who could have hoped for a dose like this?  Watch this incredible long range flight over Mallorca, courtesy of pilot ParasiteFPV. This cinematic edit is full of power loops and smooth runs along the rocky coastline and lush forest of Spain's largest of the Balearic Islands.  GoPro + Reel Steady + Parasite FPV = FPV Pilot to Watch on AirVuz in March 2020.

CINEMATIC FPV DRONE IN BALI - PARADISE ISLAND

GrizzFPV...

Bali Indonesia has got all of the goods when it comes to being an epic FPV flying location.  Plenty of cliffs to send a quadcopter surfing along and diving down, a rugged shore line to chase, and that exquisite water to soar over...so we're pretty happy that GrizzFPV had his packs charged and ready for this epic flight. His rig was equipped with Azure Power Pros and he captured the footage with an Xiaomi Yi 2 II 4K Action Cam.  We enjoyed this flight so much we had to celebrate this cinematic gem by adding Grizz to our FPV Pilots to Watch list in March 2020.

Get an entirely new perspective on France's D-Day beaches in this fantastic piece by AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot cyp fpv.  He flew a racing drone out over the stretch of the Normandy coastline which was the landing point for the giant Allied invasion of occupied France that commenced on June 6, 1944.  Flying some distance from the shore, he was able to film the remnants of the giant artificial harbor which was created here in the wake of the invasion to reinforce and resupply the massive invasion force.

May we meet again - Bando Flow

sharpwest...

On AirVuz, we've known Sharpwest to deliver some pretty great cinewhoop flights, but this flight has taken off in a different direction...like over a pretty sweet bando he discovered.  He told us it was from a hotel that was abandoned over 40 years ago, and the remaining shell and outside features provided plenty of spaces for him to show off his flying skills.  Watch as he skims the outer walls, flies upside down and through the gazebo, and give us all plenty of reasons to add him to the FPV Pilots to Watch list in Marco 2020. So we did!

Making the most of the #stayathome situation caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus, FPV pilot Fietfpv took a litte time to launch his iFlightMegabee cinewhoop and fly through a beautiful and eerily quiet city park in Jakarta, Indonesia.  He cruised along the park paths, over the lush landscaping, and through the empty seating areas, showing off his superb FPV flying sills.  Then, he made the edit next-level by mixing in some fun electric animations.  We loveed watching this charming vid, and for that, in March 2020 he got a return trip to our FPV Pilots to Watch list.

FPVing the Largest Chevron in the World

nikofilmz...

Drone pilot Nikofilmz found the planet's largest Chevron gas station in Las Vegas, Nevada and saw nothing but an excellent opportunity to rip it up (times 96, to be exact).  He and his friend @doctor.carter had their quadcopters, armed with a Go Pro Hero 6 and 8, ready for some killer air-to-air through the rows and around the station, making some FPV magic.  It looked like a gas, and we were pretty pumped, so we put Nikofilmz on our FPV Pilots to Watch list in March 2020.
