The introductory season of the famed Game of Thrones series on HBO kicked off a worldwide obsession with the complex story based on the books of the 'A Song of Fire and Ice' series, written by author George R.R. Martin. Fans quickly took to the show, which strung themes of war, politics, revenge, and love throughout an intricate narrative, set in the fictional Medieval-like settings of Westeros and Essos.
Both filming and production for this groundbreaking show proved to be an elaborate effort, as the cast was large, the storylines were interwoven, and the action was epic. Film crews carefully selected locations that best stood in for the remarkable settings as described in the books, and naturally the Season 1 locations (including Malta, Iceland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland), have proven to be places drone pilots are eager to capture as well.
