Contributor Lego put together this marvelous drone video of Tbilisi, Georgia which was a DVOW finalist.  The capital of the Caucasus republic, its cobblestoned old town shows remnants of Persian and Russian rule with architecture that encompasses Eastern Orthodox churches, ornate art nouveau buildings and Soviet Modernist structures. You can see the iconic “Mother of Georgia” or Katlis Deda, the Peace Bridge, Fuksas’ music theater and exhibition hall in Rhike Park, and more in this stunning piece.

Top contributor NGreyTravels put together this short but excellent drone video from a trip to the republic of Georgia, in the Caucasus region.  The video features great aerial footage of three of the most well-known sights in this mountainous land: (1) the Holy Trinity Church near the northern village of Gergeti, on the slopes of Mt. Kazbek; (2) the Narikala Fortress overlooking the capital city of Tbilisi; and (3) the Ananuri Castle complex on the Aragvi River, about halfway between Tbilisi and the northern border.

Gori is the second-largest city in the Caucasus republic of Georgia, after its capital Tbilisi.  Gori sits near the center of the country, in the Shida Kartli.  Lying at the confluence of two rivers as well as on the main highway across the country, it is a strategically important city in a strategically important country.  Contributor George Isakadze used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create a spectacular aerial view of this Georgian city in the Caucasus, the birthplace of the Soviet Union's dictator Joseph Stalin.

Like the other nations of the Caucasus region, the country of Georgia is known for its mountains.  It peaks are as high as 5k meters (16.6k ft), and most of the country is mountainous.  Contributor Sergei Pinen created an unforgettable aerial tour of the mountains of this country, which was part of the Soviet Union for most of the 20th century.  The video also contains footage of the mountain-surrounded capital of Tbilisi, located near the center of the countryin the foothills of the Caucasus.

At the eastern end of Georgia lies the province of Kahketi.  Kahketi has long borders with neighboring countries Russia and Azerbaijan, and its culture reflects a mix of influences.  Like the rest of the Caucasus region, it is a mountainoous land, and less cosmopolitan than the areas to to its west where Georgia's major cities Tbilisi, Gori, and Batumi lie.  Travelwithus created a breathtaking aerial view of this amazing region, which is also home to some of Georgia's most well known monasteries.

Rostavi is a medium sized city in southern Georgia, lying a bit southeast of the capital city Tbilisi.  Capital of the Kvemo Kartli province, Rostavi is an ancient city which is mentioned in many texts from the Antiquity.  More recently, it was the recipient of significant investment during the Soviet Union's big industrialization push of the 1930's, with its Rustavi Steel becoming one of the most important industrial complexes in the Caucasus.  See Rustavi from above with this video by Travel with Us.

Contributor 70daysaroundtheworld created this beautiful drone video of Kutaisi, an important city in the Caucasus republic of Georgia.  The country's #3 city, it's the capital of Imereti, a region which occupies the west-central part of the country.  Kutaisi served as the capital of the kingdom of Colchis during the Antiquity.  Later, Kutaisi served as the capital of the Kingdom of Georgia in the 11th century AD.  The video includes some amazing footage of the 11th century Bagrati Cathedral, one of Georgia's greatest landmarks.

Rasul Abdurazakov

In this drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot Rasul Abdurazakov, you'll get a drone's eye view of the Black Sea port of Batumi in Georgia.  It's one of the largest cities in this republic of the Caucasus, and its largest port city.  Batumi dates to the Antiquity, and was the site of a Roman fortress.  The city was ceded by Turkey to Russia following the Russo-Turkish War which concluded in 1878; following the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, Batumi became part of the newly independent Georgia.

It's incredible how beautiful fresh snowfall on an evergreen forest can be, especially when shot from a drone. Top contributor TANYA SHKONKINA shot these specific trees on a DJI Mavic 2 Pro while in the Caucasus Mountains in Mestia, Georgia. Although small, the province of Mestia has historically been an important center of Georgian culture and has a host of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in its city limits.  It's located in the northwestern part of the country, near its border with Russia.

Contributor and drone pilot Maikl_rus created this beautiful drone video of one of the most well known fortresses in the Caucasus rebublic of Georgia.  Khertvisi is situated in the Meskheti region in the south central part of the country, along a traditional invasion route from the south.  The site was home to a structure which was allegedly destroyed by Alexander the Great in the 4th century BC.  The current structure was built in the 14th century and served a military purpose until well into the 19th century.

Check out this stunning aerial video of a wonderous winter mountain scene in the middle of Georgia, the republic in the Caucasus region.  Sabaduri Mountain is located in Tbilisi National Park, named for the capital city which lies to its southwest.  The mountain is part of the Saguramo Range, which runs along an east-west axis to the north of Tbilisi.  The highest peak in this range is Mt. Saguramo, which reaches an altitude of just under 1.4k meters (almost 4.6k ft.) above sea level.

Some of the oldest lands of Christianity can be found in the Caucasus region, a mountainous area which forms the border between Europe and Asia.  The predecessors of modern Armenia and Georgia were both in the Christian camp by the 4th century AD, long before most of Western Europe had any idea of the new religion.  This is the reason why the Caucasus is home to so many monasteries.  In this drone video by Malik_rus, you'll see the 6th century Jvari Monastery in the Georgian province of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Top contributor 70daysaroundtheworld created this epic aerial video of the Ushguli region in the Caucasus republic of Georgia.  The region consists of four towns in the Enguri Gorge, in the Svaneti region which occupies the north-central part of the country.  The area sits at an altitude of about 2.1k meters (about 6.9k ft.) above sea level; at that altitude, it's considered one of the highest permanently settled areas in Europe.  Much of the area filmed is part of the Upper Svaneti UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Beauty of Tusheti, Georgia: Epic 4K Drone Video


Check out this magnificent drone video of a region in a remote corner of Georgia, the republic in the Caucasus Mountains.  Tusheti is an important historical region of the country, occupying its northeasternmost reaches.  Its southern border adjoins the Kakheti region (of which it is technically part for administrative purposes), but it's mostly surrounded by two Russian republics: Dagestan and Chechnya.  The video was created by contributor Triduza, who used a DJI Mavic Pro drone.

Check out this stunning drone video of one of the most beautiful spots in the Caucasus republic of Georgia, compliments of content creator and pilot Andrey_stepanaov.   Birtvisi Canyon is located in the province of Kvemo Kartli, which occupies a portion of southern Georgia.  The gorge was created by the Algeti River, which flows through it.  The canyon is home to a well known medieval fortress which is almost natural - ie, most of the structure was created by the limestone rocks of the canyon.

Contributor andrew_stapanov created this beautiful whirlwhind aerial tour of the Kazbegi region of the Caucasus republic of Georgia.  Situated on the nortern slopes of the great Caucasus Mountain range, it's part of Mtskheta-Mtianeti, one of the country's nine official regions, which covers a north-central portion of the country.  The video has some excellent footage of the Gergeti Trinity Church beginning at about :35; built in the 14th century, it's considered one of the world's most famous churches.

Check out this drone video of a beautiful spot on the Black Sea, compliments of contributor Maksx.  It's the Republic of Abkhazia, and its status is the subject of an ongoing dispute between its own government and those of neighboring Georgia and Russia.  While Russia and certain of its allies consider it an independent state, Georgia considers it part of its territory, a view which is also held by the United Nations.  The territory was the subject of a brief war in the early 1990's when the Soviet Union dissolved.

Check out this stunning drone video of a well-known castle-fortress in the Caucasus rebublic of Georgia, compliments of contributor Maikl_rus.  Rabati Castle is located in the town of Akhaltsikhe in Samtskhe–Javakheti, one of the country's main southern regions.  The original fortress here dates to the 9th century AD, and in 1393 it withstood an attack from the much-feared warrior Tamerlane.  The fortress was basically completely rebuilt by the Ottomans in the 17th-18th centuries.

Check out this stunning drone video of a well known reservoir lake in the Caucasus republic of Georgia, compliments of top contributor George Isakadze.  It's called Shaori Lake, and it's in the region called Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti in the northwestern part of the country.  The lake sits at an altitude of about 1,000 meters (around 3.3k ft.) above sea level, and is just under 3 km (about 1.7 mi.) in length.  Among other distinctions, it's one of the country's top fishing spots.

Travel With Us created this beautiful aerial tour of Racha, a province in the Caucasus republic of Georgia.  It covers portions of the official regions of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, which lie in the northern part of the country.  The region is defined by its relationship with the great mountains, which cut across the province and form the border with the Russian republic of North Ossetia.  Like most of Georgia, this is a very old place: Racha's largest city Ona dates to the 2nd century BC.

Here's an aerial video of a famous cave monastery in the Caucasus republic of Georgia, compliments of contributor 70daysaroundtheworld.  Vardzia is situated on the banks of the Kura River in the Samtskhe–Javakheti region, in the southern part of the country.  Constructed primarily in the 12th century, the caves are cut into a cliff wall.  They run for about 500 meters length-wise and are up to 19 tiers high.  The caves were abandoned following the Ottoman conquest of the region in the 1500's.

Road trip to highland castle Shatili


Check out this stunning drone video of a village in the northern extremity of Georgia in the Caucasus Mountains.  Shatili is situated in the Khevsureti province near the northern border with the Russian republic of Chechnya.  The village is comprised of mostly fortified dwellings which date to the medieval period and into the early modern periods.  The fortified nature of the village reflects its historical strategic importance as an outpost; most of the villagers were resettled to lower altitudes during the 1950's.

Udziro Lake is one of the most well known lakes in the Caucasus republic of Georgia.  It's located in Racha, a highland region in the west-central part of the country which is part of the official Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region.  The lake sits on the slopes of Mount Katitsvera.  The hike to Lake Udziro was named the #6 hiking trail in Georgia in a recent National Geographic article.  Contributor andrey_stepanov brought a drone along for the 17 km (10 mi.) trek, creating this rather stunning video.
