Hong Kong Drone Videos

Two-time DVA Winner Timelab.pro does it again with this absolutely magnificent piece from Hong Kong. Filmed using a DJI Zenmuse X7 mounted to an Inspire 2 drone, this is some of the best aerial footage of the great city we've ever seen. The video kicks off with some spectacular footage of the city's skyline, generally considered to be the world's most prominent due to the number of tall buildings here. Then the action shifts to show the massive container port here just as the sun is rising. This video earned a nomination at the 6th Annual NYCDFF.

Check out this magnificent 60 second drone demo reel from Hong Kong by former Drone Video of the Week Winner jsrpixel.  The video features footage from the city itself as well as from some of the outlying islands and waters.  Fast-paced and thrilling to watch, you'll soar over some of the territory's (and indeed the world's) tallest skyscrapers, giant containerships, and massive bridges.  The reel also features some brilliant action and "people" shots, including some outstanding boating sequences.  

Multiple DVOW Winner KASH brings us this stunning drone video from Hong Kong on the eve of the territory's implementation of much stricter regulations regarding drone flights.  Starting at aound the :10 mark, there's a nice shot looking toward some of the tallest skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island, and at the :16 mark you'll fly over the IFC's Tower 2, the island's tallest skyscraper.  Other highlights include some of the city's port faciities starting at 1:08, the skyscapers of West Kowloon (2:19), and more.  

AirVuz contributor Tiborianer used a DJI Mavic Pro 3 drone to create this magnificent aerial tour of the city of Hong Kong.  The video opens with a magnificent shot from over the Central Business District on Hong Kong Island towards the Kowloon Peninsula, on the mainland.  At the :10 mark, there's a nice view of the Central Plaza, the tallest skyscraper in Asia when it was completed in 1992.  Other highlights include International Finance Centre at the :30 mark, a container port faciity (:48), the Bank of China building (1:11), and more.  

Prepare to be amazed by this stunning drone video of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor, compliments of former DVOW Winner Tiborianer.  Victoria Harbor is the body of water which separates Hong Kong Island from the Kowloon Peninsula, which is part of the mainland of Asia.  One of the world's finest natural harbors, it's the primary historical reason why Hong Kong rose to global prominence as a center for world trade beginning in the mid-19th century.  The video includes footage of the harbor itself as well as the urban environment around it.  

Measured by the number of tall buildings, Hong Kong has the largest skyline in the world.  The city's skyscrapers are spread throughout the city - on Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, and along much of the shoreline of Victoria Harbor.  In this marvelous drone video by contributor Haussmanvisuals, you'll get a great aerial tour of the most vertical parts of the 430 square miles of the city.   This video was picked as a Finalist in the Cities category for the 2nd annual Drone Video Awards.

By most measures, Hong Kong is the world's most "vertical" city, and its towering skyscrapers are immensely appealing to aerial videographers.  If you want to see why, check out this fantastic 2020 drone reel by AirVuz contributor andyyeung.  The video features outstanding timelapse sequences from this semi-autonomous Chinese city on the Pearl River Delta; in addition to some spectacular hyperlapse shots of some of the city's hundreds of skyscrapers, sweeping views of Victoria Harbor and even some very impressive FPV footage.  

Check out this fantastic video from Hong Kong, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot jsrpixel.  The video opens with some shots of Victoria Harbor and the facilities of the Port of Hong Kong, one of the world's busiest.  Then you'll soar over and past some of the city's skyscrapers, both on the island of Hong Kong as well as in Kowloon on the mainland.  The video, which was created using a combination of drone and ground camera footage, was a Drone Video of the Week Winner in November of 2021.

Former Drone Video of the Month Winner Tiborianer brings us another fantastic drone video from the city of Hong Kong.  At the :28 mark, there's a great shot looking west across Victoria Harbor, with the skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island on the left and those of Kowloon on the right.  At the 1:05 mark, you'll see a giant cargo ship heading out to sea, and at the 1:03 mark you'll see the Stonecutters Bridge.  Other highlights include the Cruise Ship Terminal (1:52), a paraglider sailing down a mountain (2:01), and more.  

Hong Kong enjoys a special status within the People's Republic of China, to whose control the city was transferred in 1997.  Since March of 2019, Hong Kong has seen a series of protests aimed at a new law that facilitates extradition to the mainland.  In this remarkable drone video by top contributor Droneland, you'll get a bird's eye view of one of these large gathering as it was disbursed by security forces. This video won the Narrative/Documentary category at the 6th Annual New York City Drone Film Festival.

Award-winning contributor and drone pilot Kelly's Heroes put together this stunning piece from Hong Kong.  It opens with an amazing shot from Victoria Peak overooking the city's core downtown area.  Starting at about :50, you'll see some great shots of the city's skyscrapers, including Two International Financial Center and Central Plaza, the two tallest buildings on Hong Kong Island.  Then it's on to some great top-down shots over the city's streets and some nice footage of its massive residential complexes, and much more.  

Check out this stunning drone video of Hong Kong, compliments of DVA Finalist haussmannvisuals.  The video opens with an epic shot looking west from Hong Kong Island; you'll see the Two International Finance Center (foreground) and International Commerce Center (background); these are the tallest buildings on Hong Kong Island and the entire city, respectively.  From there you will be taken over the canyons of this amazing city, home to the world's largest concentrations of skyscrapers.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor jailalvani brings us this excellent drone video of the great city of Hong Kong.  Shot with a DJI Air 2S drone, the video opens with an excellent shot of 2 International Finance Centre, the tallest skyscraper on Hong Kong Island and the second-tallest in the territory overall.  This is followed by a flyover of the Central Plaza, Hong Kong's next-tallest as of 2022.  At around the 1:15 mark, you'll see International Commerce Centre in Kowloon, the city's tallest skyscraper.    

New contributor Arhan brings us this excellent DVOW nominated drone video of Hong Kong.  The first extended shot sequence will show you the Bank of China tower, followed by the International Finance Center (the city's second-tallest) and the adjacent Hong Kong Observation Wheel in the Central Harborfront.  Starting at about the :54 mark, you'll see a container terminal in the city's harbor.  Other sites include the Tsang Ma Bridge followed by the Stonecutters Bridge (starting at 1:17), Central Plaza (1:36), and more.     

New AirVūz contributor and drone pilot KASH created this stunning aerial film of Hong Kong.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic 2 Pro and a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom, supplemented with ground camera footage.  Ride along for some incredible views of the city's skyscrapers, busy thoroughfares, and bustling harbor.  The video features footage both from Hong Kong Island as well as the Kowloon Peninsula, on the Asian mainland.  This video was picked as the Winner of the Drone Video of the Week in March of 2021. 

Top contributor Majestic, who is known for his stunning drone hyperlapse videos of the great cities of the world, brought his talents to bear creating this marvelous dronelapse of Hong Kong.  The video opens with amazing nighttime shots of two of the city's tallest buildings: Two International Finance Center (the tallest building on the island of Hong Kong) and The Center (HK's fifth tallest buildings).  From there you'll be taken around other spots on the island as well as in Kowloon, across the great harbor.

Take in these stunning drone views of Hong Kong, compliments of new contributor Tiboriane.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 on a brilliant clear morning, the first part of the video was filmed over the Kowloon Peninsula, which lies on the mainland across Victoria Harbor from the island of Hong Kong.  Here you'll get a good look at the Victoria Dockside tower at Kowloon's southern tip.  The video closes with shots of Two International Finance Centre, which lies on Hong Kong Island and which is the city's second-tallest skyscraper.  

Contributor jsrpixel created one of the first aerial videos of Hong Kong to be shot with the DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.  Filmed in October, 2018, just weeks after the MP2 was released, it captures this magnificent city both at night and during the dawn hours.  Much of the footage is shot around Two International Financial Center.  Situated near the downtown HK waterfrpont, the tower is the #2 skyscraper by height after International Commerce Center on Kowloon, and it's the largest on the island of Hong Kong.  

Check out this epic 4K video of Hong Kong compliments of top contributor and pilot hamza_mujtaba.  Shot using both a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and a ground camera, it offers something for everyone - shots of the city from the mountains behind it, epic views of the harbor, and scenes from the streets of this cosmopolitan city on the Pearl River Delta.  It even has footage from some of the outlying islands of Hong Kong, administered as a semi-autonomous region of China since 1997.  This video won DVOW in May 2019.

Drone pilot Majestic is one of the best when it comes to drone, time-lapses, also known as drone-lapses. He has been nominated in the AirVuz Drone Video Awards for his time-lapse work, you can certainly see why in this magnificent 4K video of the skyline of Hong Kong.   The footage, which was taken at night, covers both Hong Kong Island as well as the Kowloon Peninsula across the harbor.  

Top contributor KASH won his second DVOW contest with this amazing piece from Hong Kong.  The video was shot with a Laowa 6mm T2.1 Zero-D MFT camera mounted to a DJI Inspire 2 drone.  At the :24 mark, there's a great shot looking north towards the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Center, with the gleaming Central Plaza skyscraper in the background.  At around :37, there's a nice nighttime shot of Victoria Harbor looking towards Kowloon.  Other featured locations include the Bank of China Tower (:56), Two IFC Center (1:00), and more.

Check out this stunning drone video of Hong Kong, shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone by contributor jsrpixel.  It opens with a shot from Cape D'Aguilar, a peninsula which juts out from the southeastern corner of Hong Kong Island.  From there it will take you over the island's Central Business District, home of some of the world's tallest skyscrapers.  At about the :35 mark there's an epic shot of Two International Financial Center, the city's second-tallest building and the tallest on the island.

Top contributor 70daysaroundtheworld used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this amazing aerial tour of Hong Kong, unquestionably one of the world's greatest cities.  It opens with some shots looking across the great harbor from the Kowloon Peninsula, with the majestic Two International Financial Center (the tallest building on Hong Kong Island) in frame.  From there you'll be flown around the harbor before being taken to Victoria Peak, the mini-mountain which overlooks the city from the west.  

Hong Kong is so many things - it's a major port, a financial center, the link between mainland China and the rest of the world, and a major tourist and cruise ship destination.  It owes its existence to its fantastic natural harbor, but has long since gone beyond simply being a port city.  Contributor Jakublin created a memorable aerial video of this amazing metropolis on the great delta of the Pearl River, and the bird's eye views of the towering skyscrapers and the harbor will astound you.  

Contributor jsrpixel created this rather haunting drone video of the city of Hong Kong in the middle of an atmospheric inversion.  In these events, which typically happen in the winter, cool air close to the ground is trapped by warmer air, keeping smog and other type of air pollution from rising.  During inversions, air quality can drop dramatically and pose risks to people with respiratory issues.  While it is not a beautiful sight to those living through it, it does create a surreal sort of look to this fantastically vertical city.  

In this video, top AirVuz contributor th3venture flies his DJI Mavic Pro drone over the mighty port city of Hong Kong.  The video begins with an amazing aerial shot from Victoria Peak, the great hill which covers the western side of the island and has a maximum altitude of over 550 meters (around 1.8k).  Using timelapses and other editing techniques, you will get an amazing bird's eye view of this gigantic city, which has what is widely considered the most impressive skyline of any city in the world.

AirVuz contributor and pilot JN Drone brings us this amazing drone view of the city of Hong Kong under partial cloudcover.  Shot with the DJI Mavic Pro 2 and Phantom 4 Pro drone models, the video uses the clouds to show just how high some of the territory's skyscrapers reach into the sky.  The video features footage of some of the city's tallest buildings, including the 118 story International Commerce Center and Two International Finance Center, the city's tallest and second-tallest buildings, respectively.  

Check out this magnificent drone video from the tallest mountain in Hong Kong, compliments of multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner KASH.  The mountain, which is actually an inactive volcano, is located roughly in the geographic center of the New Territories, on the Asian mainland.  It has a peak elevation of 3.14k ft. above sea level, or 957 m.  The mountain, together with its sub-peaks (a number of which rise to elevations of over 2k ft. above sea level or around 600 meters) is sometimes called Guan Fu Mountain.  

Here's a great look at the two tallest buildings in Hong Kong, compliments of JN Drone and his Mavic Pro 2.  The video opens with a shot showing International Commerce Center in the right foreground; located in Kowloon, it's the city's tallest building.  Then the video shifts to Hong Kong Island, where you'll get some great views of Two International Finance Center; this is the tallest skyscraper on the island.  From there, you'll see more shots of the ICC as well as an epic ending sunset shot over the harbor.  

This 4K hyperlapse of Hong Kong at night is sublime. Pilot jsrpixel says this is one of the more beautiful sides of the city at night that he was able to capture with this DJI Mavic Pro 2 with Freewall Pro Clear Night ND filters. This video includes shots of Bank of China, Cheung Kong Building, and Two International Finance Center. Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated places in the world, so the use of hyperlapse to capture the bustling city is perfect. It gives the piece a sense of controlled chaos. 

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner Tiborianer brings us this outstanding drone video of the tallest skyscraper in Hong Kong: the International Commerce Center.  The 108-story supertall is located in West Kowloon on the mainland side of the territory, across Victoria Harbor from Hong Kong Island.  It has an architectural height of just under 1.6k ft. (484 m), making it the territory's tallest building since it opened in 2010.  As of early 2023, it's one of the 15 tallest skyscrapers in the world.  

In this fast-paced aerial tour of Hong Kong, AirVuz contributor and drone pilot JN Drone shows off his best 2019 aerial footage from the great financial center.  In less than two minutes, the video packs in many dozens of shots from all over this semi-autonomous Chinese territory, including the skyscrapers of the Financial District on the island of Hong Kong, Victoria Harbor, the newer high-rises of West Kowloon on the mainland side of the territory, Victoria Peak, and more sights from the world's most vertical city.    

Top contributor Haussmann Visuals created this epic aerial tour of Hong Kong, perhaps the world's most photogenic city.  Shot at night, the video features epic bird's eye views of some of the most recognizable skyscrapers on Hong Kong Island.  Among the highlights are top-down shots at around the :53 mark of Central Plaza, Hong Kong's third largest building; and an equally impressive "over-the-top" view at the 1:45 mark of International Financial Center, the city's second tallest building. 

Hong Kong was a British territory from the time of the First Opium War in 1842.  When the lease of the territory expired in 1997, Hong Kong was returned to  China, becoming a sem-autonomous region.  Contrary to some fears, the change of sovereignty did little to damage Hong Kong's importance as a world financial  center; most of its tallest buildings, for example, have been built since the handover.  In this video, top contributor Droneland gives us a spectacular drone tour of this magical port city.    

Contributor Dave Yip created this beautiful aerial tour of the skyscrapers of Hong Kong's Financial District.  The highlight of the film begins at about :53 and is an epic flyover of the city's #2 tower, height-wise: the 407 meter (1.35k ft.) Two International Financial Center.  This 88 story office tower was the tallest building in the city when opened in 2003 and it continues to be the tallest on Hong Kong Island but was surpassed by International Financial Center in West Kowloon in 2010.

Brand-new contributor Tiborianer used a DJI Mavic 3 drone to create these stunning nighttime views from the great city of Hong Kong.  The video was shot over the Kai Tak and Kwun Tong areas, both of which lie along Kowloon Bay on the mainland, just east of the Kowloon Peninsula.  Kai Tak was the home of the city's main international airport until 1998, when the airport moved to a new location on reclaimed land on Chek Lap Kok Island, well to the west.  Kwun Tong, which lies just to the east of Kai Tak, is an important industrial area.  

The Kwun Tong District sits on the Kowloon (penninsula) side of Hong Kong, on the Asian mainland.  It is situated to the east of the central Kowloon district of Tsim Sha Shui, across Kowloon Bay.  Kwun Tong is one of the most populous of the 18 districts into which Hong Kong is divided, although it's also one of its poorest.  Contributor David Yip flew over the district on three separate mornings, allowing him to create this incredible aerial view of the city as the red dawn begins to break over the Pearl River Delta. 

As of November, 2018, Dubai had 187 buildings which were at least 150 meters (just under 500 ft.) tall.  New York City had considerably more - 267, to be exact.  That's a lot of tall buildings, until you consider that Hong Kong has 353 - a third again more.  It's pretty clear that Hong Kong is the most vertical place on earth in terms of the human-made landscape.  In this rather remarkable video by top contributor Droneland, you'll get a top-down look at this tribute to the power of humanity to shape its world.

Understanding how the great metropolis of Hong Kong became a major city starts with its relationship to the sea.  Victoria Harbor is the body of water separating Hong Kong Island from the Kowloon Peninsula (which lies on the Asian mainland), and it is one of the finest natural harbors in the world.  Contributor Minglam created this spectacular drone video flying over the mist-covered harbor, giving us an aerial look at some of the ship traffic heading in and out of the great city, which is one of the ten busiest ports in the world.

JN Drone created this beautiful drone video of the skyscrapers of Hong Kong.  The city at the mouth of the Pearl River is home to the largest number of tall (<150 meters, 500ft.) buildings in the world.  The video will give you bird's eye views of some of the city's tallest structures.  In the first part of the video, you'll get some epic views of Two International Financial Center with its distinctive white ribbed apex; this was the tallest building in Hong Kong from 2003-10 and is still the tallest on the island.  

Kowloon Peak is the highest point on the Kowloon Peninsula, a part of the Chinese territory of Hong Kong which sits across the Victoria Harbor from Hong Kong Island.  The small mountain covers the western side of the island and is accessible by cable car, yielding one of the best urban views of any spot on earth.  How about the view from above Kowloon Peak?  Top contributor and pilot Droneland created this amazing view by flying a drone from Victoria, capturing even more amazing views of this vibrant city.

Hong Kong has the distinction of being one of the world's most expensive real estate markets, and providing shelter for its 7+ million inhabitants has always been a challenge.  With a population density as high as any place on earth, many of the residents live in large high rise complexes that abound throughout the city.  Contributor Qualtaghcanfly used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create an aerial view of the Choi Hung Estate, the largest public housing project in Hong Kong, which has over 40k residents! 

Content creator and drone pilot Droneland created this epic aerial video of the famous Po Lin Monastery on Lantau, one of the outlying islands of Hong Kong.  The Buddhist monastery was founded by monks from the Chinese mainland in 1906, and was known initially as the "Big Hut" (it took its current name in 1924).  In 1993, the complex was significantly expanded with the construction of the Big Buddha statue.   Standing 34 meters tall (over 100 ft), it's one of the largest Buddha statues in China.  

AirVuz contributor jsrpixel brings us this fantastic dronelapse video of the great city of Hong Kong.  The first part of the video was shot over the traffic interchange on Gloucester Road, near the entrance to the Cross Harbor Tunnel on Causeway Bay.  Then you'll be taken over Victoria Harbor, with a westward-facing panning shot sweeping from south to north.  On the left, you'll see Two International Finance Center, the tallest building on Island, and on the right you'll see the even taller International Commerce Center in West Kowloon.  

Content creator and pilot Minglam created this amazing drone video of Hong Kong's Kowloon Peninsula.  The peninsula sits on the Chinese mainland, across Hong Kong Harbor from the eponymously named island.  In recent years, Kowloon has seen the construction of skyscrapers which rival and even exceed those of the island.  In the video, you'll see some epic footage of the Union Square project in West Calhoun, whose centerpiece (International Commerce Center) is the city's tallest skyscraper.

In this drone video, top content creator and drone pilot Dave Yip will take you around one of the largest housing estates in Hong Kong.  It's called Lai Tek Tsuen,  and it's located in the Wan Chai District on the northern side of Hong Kong Island.  Completed in 1975, it has almost 2,700 apartments.  The complex is owned by the Hong Kong Housing Society, a public authority which provides subsidized housing for about 150,000 residents of this city which is perennially short of affordable housing.  

Check out this magnificent drone video of Hong Kong, compliments of top content creator and pilot Dave Yip.  The focus of the video is the Union Square development in the West Kowloon area of the mainland.  This area is land which was reclaimed from the harbor late in the 20th century and developed beginning early in the 21st.  Its centerpiece is the 118 story International Commerce Center.  Completed in 2010, it's the tallest building in Hong Kong and one of the dozen tallest in the world as of early 2019. 

Contributor JN Drone used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this awesome aerial view of a giant containership heading into port in Hong Kong.  The Port of Hong Kong sits in Victoria Harbor, one of the earth's finest natural harbors.  Part of the great delta of the Pearl River, it is one of the 5-6 busiest ports in the world, measured by twenty foot equivalent container units ("TEU's").  The ship shown in the video is operated by COSCO; the Chinese state-owned company is the world's third largest shipping concern.

Here's a rather amazing drone video from a rarely-seen part of Hong Kong, compliments of top contributor Minglam.  Surprising to many, the largest island of the territory of Hong Kong is not Hong Kong Island but rather Lantau Island, which sits to its west at the mouth of the Pearl River.  With a population of only 100,000, Lantau is perhaps best known for the focus of the video: Lantau Peak, which has maximum elevation of 934 meters above sea level (about 3k ft.) and provides legendary sunrise views.  

Top contributor and drone pilot BigHeadGreg created this awesome video from Hong Kong, showing a side to the region that few people see.  While most people associate Hong Kong with the northern part of Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, the territory is actually far more extensive and includes over 200 islands.  In the video, you will see some of these out-of-the-way spots as well as more well known places like Ocean Park, a large amusement park which sits on the south side of Hong Kong Island.  

Here's a great aerial view of a comparatively unknown part of Hong Kong, compliments of top contributor and drone pilot Jack Shirley.  The subject of the video is Lamma Island, which sits to the southwest of Hong Kong Island.  It's the third largest island in the territory by land area, after Lantau and Hong Kong Islands.  Separated from Hong Kong Island and Kowloon by only a couple of kilometers, it's a world apart - fewer than 10,000 people live here, and mostly on the northern part of the island.  

In this video, contributor and pilot JN Drone explores some of the tallest buildings in Hong Kong by drone.  The focus of the video is on the city's two tallest buildings: the 118 story International Commerce Center in Kowloon and the 88 story International Financial Center, the tallest building on Hong Kong Island.  You'll also get some great views of the 70 story Bank of China tower (the city's fourth tallest as of 2019), and the 73 story The Center (#5 by height as of 2019).  The video ends with some great shots of Victoria Peak.

Top contributor Droneland used a drone to create an aerial portrait of Hong Kong as it undergoes some of its most serious political unrest in recent memory.  The protests stem from popular dissatisfaction with perceived impingement of rights granted to the former British colony under the 1997 agreement by which control shifted from the UK to China.  The video captures aerial footage of the protests that erupted on the July 1, 2019 anniversary of the handover, and goes on to show other sights around the city.

Take an aerial tour of Hong Kong's Wong Tai Sin District with this excellent drone video by top contributor Dave Yip.  It's the Wong Tai Sin District, one of the 18 which make up this semi-autonomous region in southeastern China.  Wong Tai Sin has the distinction of being the only landlocked district.  It's located to the northeast of the Kowloon Peninsula.  With a population of a bit under a half-million, it's one of Hong Kong's poorer districts.  Roughly 85% of its residents live in public housing.

Hong Kong Polytechnic is one of the largest and most well-known universities in Hong Kong.  Seen here in this drone video by JN Drone, the university is situated in the Hung Hom neighborhood of the Kowloon City District, north of the island of Hong Kong.  Established in the 1930's, the school was granted university status in 1994.  Its enrollment currently stands at about 27k students. Sometimes known as PolyU, the school maintains over 200 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.     

Contributor JN Drone used a Mavic Pro 2 drone to aerially film some a tiny and little-known island which is part of China's semi-autonomous Hong Kong region.  North Ninepin Island is the largest member of the Ninepin Group, a cluster of 29 uninhabted islands which lie in the eastern reaches of Hong Kong, in the Sai Kung District.  The distinctive looking island was formed by a volcanic eruption 140 million years ago, followed by as many years of erosion caused by heavy tides hitting its shores.  

Contributor nohesitations used a DJI Mavic Pro to create this epic mini aerial tour of Hong Kong, one of the world's greatest cities.  One of the highlights is at around the :20 mark, where you'll see a juxtaposition of the city's two largest buildings.  In the background is Two International Finance Square; completed in 2003, it's the tallest building on Hong Kong Island.  In the foreground is the 118 story International Finance Center on the Kowloon Peninsula; it's been the city's tallest building since 2010.  

See incredible Hong Kong by drone in this stunning 4K video by JN Drone. He will open with a shot looking towards the Financial District and behind it Victoria Peak from the perspective of Victoria Harbor, which separates the island of Hong Kong from the mainland.  The "star" of much of the rest of the video is the Central Plaza, the spire-topped building which is lit up in shades of red and pink.  The 78 story skyscraper stands just under 375 meters (just over 1.2k ft.); completed in 1992, it's the city's third-tallest as of 2019.

One of the great landmarks of modern Hong Kong is actually not on Hong Kong Island or even Kowloon but rather the outlying island of Lantau.  It's the giant Tian Tan Buddha statue of the Siddhārtha Gautama, also known as the "Big Buddha".  The 34 meter (about 112 ft.) statue overlooking the Po Lin Monastery was completed in 1993. Constructed with 202 pieces of bronze, the great statue weighs 250 metric tons.  Seen from above in this drone video by JN Drone, the entire complex is located in the Ngong Ping highlands in western Lantau.

Check out this stunning drone video of Hong Kong's famous Lion Rock mountain, compliments of contributor and pilot Edinz.  Named for the leonine shape of its peak, the mountain is located on the mainland part of Hong Kong, between Kowloon and the New Territories.  It has a maximum elevation of just under 500 meters above sea level (around 1.6k ft.).   Composed of granite, the great rock is estimated to be about 140 million years old.  Contained within the Lion Rock Country Park, it's one of Hong Kong's more popular hiking destinations.  

Hong Kong's Causeway Bay covers part of Wan Chai, an affluent district in the northern part of Hong Kong Island.  The area is filled with luxury malls, boutiques and department stores, as well as Hong Kong’s Central Library and Victoria Park.  In recent years, Causeway Bay surpassed New York's Fifth Avenue to become the world's highest-rent retail zone.  In this drone video by JN Drone, you'll get a bird's eye view of this shopper's paradise, including shots of the flagship DJI retail store located here.  

Check out this drone video of one of Hong Kong's last surviving lighthouses, compliments of JN Drone. It sits on Waglan Island, an islet which is part of the Po Toi archipelago, a group of about 200 small islands southeast of Hong Kong Island.  The lighthouse was built in 1893 to protect shipping lanes in and out of Hong Kong Harbor from the southeast.  It's one of about 115 scheduled monuments in the Hong Kong Territory.  Automated since 1989, it's one of five operating Hong Kong lighthouses.

If you've traveled from Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok Airport (the territory's main airport since 1998) to Kowloon or Hong Kong Island in the last dozen years, you have likely traversed the Stonecutters Bridge.  Seen here in this drone video by JN Drone, the cable-stayed bridge spans the Rambler Channel between the cape of Nam Wan Kok and Stonecutters Island.  Opened in 2009, it's the third-longest bridge of its type in the world as of 2019, with a total length of 1.6k meters or just over 5.2k ft.  

When Hong Kong opened a new international airport on Chek Lap Kok Island in 1998, a massive investment in ground infrastructure was required to connect the airport to the city.  The most significant of these was the Tsing Ma Bridge, which connects two islands between the airport and Kowloon.  Seen here in this drone video by contributor minglam, the bridge's main span is almost 1.4k meters or about 4.6k ft.  It was the second-longest suspension bridge in the word when it was completed in 1997.

The autonomous Chinese territory of Hong Kong covers over a 1.1k square km (around 430 square mi.) spread out over several hundred islands, most of which are uninhabited.  The vast majority of its estimated 2019 population of about 7.5 million live in just a fraction of this land area, leaving a surprisingly amount of land which is undeveloped.  In this drone video by Kristian Allin, you'll get a bird's eye view of the "other" Hong Kong, one which is far removed from the skyscrapers and packed streets of the Central Business District and Kowloon.

Take an aerial tour of one of the world's largest containerized shipping ports, compliments of JN Drone.  It's Hong Kong's Kwai Tsing Container Terminals, which lies along the Rambler Channel in the New Territories neighborhood of Kwai Chung.  Built on reclaimed land the facility opened in 1972 as the Port of Hong Kong's answer to the containerization revolution.  In 2018, the port handled nearly 20 million 20 foot equivalent containers ("TEU"'), putting it at the #7 spot in the worldwide containerport rankings that year.  

Hong Kong's Ting Kau Bridge is one of the major components of the Lantau Link, a giant 1990's infrastructure project which was critical to the construction of the territory's new airport on Chek Lap Kok Island, well to the west of the center city.  Opened in 1998, the world's first major four-span cable-stayed bridge crosses the Rambler Channel between Tsing Yi Island and the New Territories on the Chinese mainland.  Seen in this excellent drone video, the bridge has a total length of just under 1.2k meters (just under 3.9k ft.).

While Victoria Peak is the best-known mountain on Hong Kong Island, the mainland parts of the territory are also home to some impressive peaks.  In this drone video by JN Drone, you'll get an amazing aerial view of the city from Lion Rock, which is situated between the Kowlooon Peninsula and the New Territories, across the harbor from Hong Kong Island.  Shot at night, the video affords some great aerial views of the mainland side of the great metropolis on the Pearl River Delta, which reverted to Chinese control in 1997.

Check out this amazing drone video of a lantern festival in an outlying village of Hong Kong, compliments of AirVuz contributor KASH.  The village of Tai O is located in the western part of Lantau Island, the largest island of Hong Kong, which lies to the west of Hong Kong Island.  It's sometimes called the Venice of the Orient because of its waterways, which are outlets of two converging small rivers.  Shot with a DJI Inspire 2 drone, the video captures the town as it celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival season.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of the Tiu Keng Leng area of Hong Kong, compliments of brand-new contributor ponglangyan.  It's part of Sai Kung District, the easternmost of the 18 districts which make up this semi-autonomous territory of Hong Kong.  Tiu Keng Leng first developed as a housing area for refugees fleeing China following the Communist Revolution of 1949.  It was subsequently redeveloped as part of the Tseung Kwan O New Town, much of which was built on reclaimed land from nearby Junk Bay.  

AirVuz contributor Philip Chow brings us this excellent drone video of Tai Tam Dam, a historic work of civil engineering in Hong Kong.  It's part of the Tai Tam Reservoirs complex in the southeastern part of Hong Kong Island.  Surrounded by Mt. Butler, Jardine's lookout, and other scenic bits of high ground, the was completed in the early 1900's (a few decades after the initial reservoirs were built) as a means to provide drinking waters to the then-British colony.  It's part of the Tai Tam Waterworks Heritage Trail.

Check out these beautiful dronelapse shots from Hong Kong's Kowloon Peak, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Ekphrasis.  With a summit elevation of 600 meters above sea level (around 2k ft.), Kowloon Peak rises above the city's New Kowloon area, which lies on the Asian mainland and includes the city's  Kwun Tong District and Wong Tai Sin Districts.  While there are several paths which can take hikers to the summit in relative safety, the mountain can alsop be scaled via Suicide Cliff, so named because of its extreme danger.   

The 2019 Hong Kong protests are an ongoing series of demonstrations that started with an extradition bill, but have turned into a general pro-democracy movement. Although not explicitly attached, the 11.1 Run for Hong Kong, seen in this aerial video by pilot Edinz, was a race with hundreds of runners protesting the increasing demand by police that running events need to be approved or could be considered an illegal assembly. Read more about the run and the landmarks seen in this video in Edinz's description below. 

Get up close and personal with a giant cruise ship in this fanastic drone video by Asuka_Iam, who managed to film the Royal Caribbean ship Spectrum of the Seas heading into the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in Hong Kong.  The ship is one of the five Quantum class ships operated by the line.  With displacemen of around 170k gross tons, the ship was launched in 2019.  With a length of just under 1.15k ft. (a little under 350 m), it can carry nearly 5k passengers.  By gross tonnage, it's one of the world's 20 largest cruise ships as of 2022.   

Here's something you definitely do not see every day: it's a giant inflatable cat floating in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor!  Contributor AdventurousDrone managed to fly a drone over this very modern type of sculpture when it made a stop here for Hong Kong's Arts Month in the spring of 2019.  Called "Companion", it's the work of noted American artist Brian Donnelly, who goes by the name of "Kaws" (or, alternatively, "KAWS").  Companion is about 35 meters (115 ft.) long and is attached to moorings.  

Check out this first person view (FPV) "fly through" of one of the newest attractions in Hong Kong: M+, a museum of visual culture.  The video was shot in anticipation of the museum's opening in the second week of November, 2021.  The museum, which is dedicated to 20th and 21st century visual culture, is one of the centerpieces of the West Kowloon Cultural District.  The district is located on 40 acres of reclaimed land in the Yau Tsim Mong District.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October, 2021.

For a first upload to AirVuz, first person view (FPV) pilot Tszhin816 brings us this epic video record of an FPV dive of one of Hong Kong's tallest buildings.  It's the 72 story Bank of China building.  Distinguished by its illuminated white lines, the tower has a roof height of 315 meters or about 1.03k ft.  Opened in 1990, it was the city's tallest building for two years.  As of 2019, it's the city's fourth-tallest, after the International Commerce Center, Two International Finance Center, and the Central Plaza.  

Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated places on earth, as well as one of the most expensive.  Nearly half of the territory's 7+ million residents live in public housing, without which many of Hong Kong's middle classes would be unable to afford to live in the city.  In this stunning piece by brand new AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Dreiska, you'll get an aerial perspective on the giant apartment blocks which house millions and give the city much of its distinctly vertical feel.  

Check out this magnificent drone video of the great city of Hong Kong enshrouded in mist, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Edinz.  At about the :08 mark, you'll be taken over the 118 story International Commerce Center in West Kowloon, the city's tallest building.  Most of the rest of the video was shot over the waters of Kowloon Bay, which lies on the eastern side of the city, between the Kowloon Peninsula and the Kwun Tong District.  The video was shot as the sun was rising over the city.
