Happy Holidays, from AirVuz!

Top AirVuz contributor ArturCarvalho brings us this excellent DVOW nominated film of Lisbon as the Portuguese capital city dresses itself up for Christmas.  The video opens with a shot of the Rua Augusta Arch on Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio), followed by a great shot of the Christmas tree in the square itself.  Starting at the :49 mark, there's some great shots of the King Pedro IV Square (the Rossio), the Queen Maria II Theatre at its north end, and a grand finale at the Monument to the Restorers on Restauradores Square.

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Angelo Re combined footage from a DJI Mavic with first person (FPV) footage from a "cinewhoop" style drone to create this marvelous video of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the city "dressed up" for the 2020 Christmas season.  The video opens with a shot of the display at Point State Park, then takes you to the giant Unity Tree on Penn Ave..  Other shots include the Christmas tree in the skating rink at PPG Plaza, the tree in Market Square, and the lights display at the City-County Building. 

Behold this spectacular drone video of Mexico City, fully decked out for Christmas 2018.  Award-winning content contributor and drone pilot Postandfly gives an astounding demonstration of the new DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create a stunning bird's eye view of the largest city in the Western Hemisphere as it prepares for the holiday.  Most of the video was shot around Zócalo, the main square in the center of the city, where a giant outdoor skating rink becomes part of the cityscape during the holiday season.  

Check out this jaw-dropping drone video of holiday-festooned Moscow, Russia by new AirVuz contributor pushkinflyteam.  The video opens with an epic shot of the Kremlin and the adjacent St. Basil's Cathedral, the aesthetic heart of Europe's largest city.  The focus of much of the rest of the video is in and around Red Square, the city's largest public gathering place.  Located just north of the Kremlin, the square takes on an almost other-worldly look during the Christmas season, replete with a giant ice-skating rink.  

Check out this stunning aerial tour of the Finnish city of Turku decked out for Christmas, compliments of top contributor timoksanen.  Located in the southwestern part of the country at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is one of Finland's most important cultural centers.  Founded in the 13th century, the one-time Finnish capital city is sometimes called Finland's "Gateway to the West" due to its close connections with Western Europe.  The video features footage of the city's waterfront, ending with a great shot of the Turku Cathedral.  

Among the pleasures of the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv is a small district called Kapana.  The name translates to "The Trap", and it has to do with the street structure.  In this video by contributor nikolaganchev, you will see why the name is appropriate.  The neighborhood was built around 500 years ago, fell into disrepair, and has recently been renovated.    Located in the foothills of the mountains in the south-central part of the country, Plovdiv is Bulgaria's second largest city and its cultural capital.

Ho, ho, ho!  Check out this fantastic Christmastime drone video from Germany's Black Forest, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Noah Bach Films.  He managed to aerially film Santa Claus out on his snowmobile cruising through this fabled area in the southwestern part of the country.  The Black Forest is a forested mountain area in the state of Baden-Württemberg.  Bounded by the Rhine River to the west, the forest is the source for the Danube, the second-longest waterway in Europe.  

Tbilisi is the largest city in and the capital of the Caucasus nation of Georgia.  Located in the east-central part of the country, the city sits at the very crossroads between Europe and Asia, and was on the fabled Silk Road.  Contributor George Isakadze celebrated New Year's 2018 with a DJI Phantom 4 drone and created  this epic video of this ancient city (also known as Tiflis) along the Kura River in the heart of the Caucasus.  The center of a metropolitan population of about 1.5 million, Tbilisi is the largest city in the entire Caucasus region.  

Schloss Pillnitz is a well-known palace on the River Elbe in Dresden, Germany.  Originally constructed in the 14th century, the palace served as the summer residence for the electors and kings of Saxony, the once-independent German kingdom which roughly coincides with the modern state of the same name.  The castle was rebuilt in the Baroque style in the early 18th century, and the English-style garden was added later in the century.  In this drone video by Mischa Haubold, you can see the famous palace decked out for the Christmas holiday.  

Debrecen is Hungary's second largest city, after Budapest.  It's located in the east central part of the country, in the Northern Great Plain region.  Established no later than the 13th century, Debrecen was the capital of the (brief) proto-state of Hungary that emerged from the great Revolution of 1848 but which was soon quashed by the Habsburg rulers in Austria.  Heavily damaged during World War II but later restored, you can get a nice air/ground video tour of Debrecen at Christmas in this excellent video by K&P studio.  

Celebrate the holidays with this short but sweet dronelapse video!  ChrisDantonio highlights all the Christmas cheer, Philly-style, in this bedazzling hyperlapse drone video.  As he soars high above City Hall in Philadelphia with his DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone, all the festive holiday lights shimmer and glimmer brightly amongst the routine sparkle of the city.  City Hall is one of the city's most recognized landmarks; the William Penn statue atop it served as the unofficial "ceiling" for buildings in the city for three quarters of a century.

The story Bridge is one of the more well-known bridges in Australia.  It spans the Brisbane River between the northern and southern suburbs of Brisbane, the capital of the state of Queensland and the country's third-largest city after Sydney and Melbourne.  Completed in 1940, it was the second of the city's river crossings.  With a total length of about 777 meters (around 2.5k ft.) it is the longest cantilevered bridge in Australia.  You can see it from above in this beautiful drone video from digiotto, shot on Christmas Eve.

Check out this beautiful wintertime drone view of one of the most important mountains in the Czech Republic, compliments of MDM Drone Studio.  It's called Ještěd, and it's the highest peak in the Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge of the Western Sudeten Mountains in the Liberec region, a range which covers much of the area where the Czech, Polish and German borders meet up.  Topped with a futuristic-looking hotel and TV tower, the mountain's peak is just over 1k meters (3.3k ft.) above sea level.
