Flashes from Hong Kong - Drone view of amazing Hong Kong 4K

Hong Kong is so many things - it's a major port, a financial center, the link between China and the world, and a major tourist and cruise ship destination.  It owes its existence to its fantastic natural harbor, but has long since gone beyond simply being a port city.  Contributor Jakublin created a memorable aerial video of this amazing metropolis in the Pearl River Delta, and the bird's eye views of the skyline and the harbor will astound you.

A new day begins at Kwun Tong

Dave Yip

The Kwun Tong District sits on the Kowloon (penninsula) side of Hong Kong.  Kwun Tong is one of the most populous of the city's 18 districts, although also one of its poorest districts.  Contributor David Yip flew over the district on three separate mornings, allowing him to create this incredible aerial view of the city as the red dawn begins to break over the Pearl River Delta.

Droneland 2018 - Hong Kong From Above

Hong Kong was a British territory from the time of the First Opium War in 1842.  When the lease of the territory expired in 1997, Hong Kong was returned to  China, becoming a sem-autonomous region.  Contrary to some fears, the change of sovereignty did little to damage Hong Kong's importance as a world financial  center.  In this video, top contributor Droneland gives us a spectacular drone tour of this magical port city.

When the darkness is coming (Hong Kong)

Dave Yip

Contributor Dave Yip created this beautiful aerial tour of the skyscrapers of Hong Kong's Financial District.  The highlight of the film begins at about :53 and is an epic flyover of the city's #2 tower, height-wise: the 407 meter (1.35k ft.) Two International Financial Center.  This 88 story office tower was the tallest building in the city when opened in 2003 and it continues to be the tallest on Hong Kong Island but was surpassed by International Financial Center in West Kowloon in 2010.

Who knew Hong Kong looked like this?

While most people associate Hong Kong with the dense downtown district and the adjacent area of  Kowloon, the Hong Kong territory actually extends well beyond the core city areas.  In this video, contributor Jack Shirley uses a drone to show us some less well known parts of Hong Kong.  The video includes aerial footage of  Long Ke Wan, Tung Lung Chau, Park Island, Sai Kung, Grass Island, and more.

Hong Kong - DJI Mavic Pro - 4K

In this video, top AirVuz contributor th3venture flies his DJI Mavic Pro drone over the mighty port city of Hong Kong.  The video begins with an amazing aerial shot from Victoria Peak.  Using timelapses and other editing techniques, you will get an amazing bird's eye view of this gigantic city, which has what is widely considered the most impressive skyline of any city in the world.

Droneland 2018 - Kowloon Peak

Kowloon Peak is the highest point on the Kowloon Peninsula, a part of Hong Kong which sits across the Victoria Harbor from Hong Kong Island.  The small mountain stands about 600 meters (almost 2k feet) above sea level.  Contributor Droneland created this amazing view by flying a drone from the peak, capturing amazing views of the city dwarfed by the surrounding mountain peaks.

Ms. Ho at Choi Hung Estate

Hong Kong is one of the world's most expensive real estate markets, and providing shelter for its 7+ million inhabitants has always been a challenge.  Many of the residents live in large high rise complexes that abound throughout the city.  Contributor Qualtaghcanfly used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create an aerial view of the Choi Hung Estate, the largest public housing project in Hong Kong, which has over 40k residents!

Droneland 2018 - The land of gold

As of November, 2018, Dubai had 187 buildings which were at least 150 meters (just under 500 ft.) tall.  New York City had considerably more - 267, to be exact.  That's a lot of tall buildings, until you consider that Hong Kong has 353 - a third again more.  It's pretty clear that Hong Kong is the most vertical place on earth in terms of the human-made landscape.  In this rather remarkable video by Droneland, you'll get a top-down look at this tribute to the power of humanity to shape its world.

Droneland 2018 - Above The Monastery

Contributor Droneland created this epic aerial video of the famous Big Buddha statue near Po Lin, a Buddhist monastery on an outlying satellite island of Hong Kong.  The 34 meter (over 100 ft) statue was constructed in the 1990's, and it's one of the largest Buddha statues in China.  The Monastery, built in the early 1900's, sits on Lantau Island, one of the larger Hong Kong islands which sits to the west of the main island.
