Best place in Indonesia- Mount Bromo

Top contributor Sandrine Hecq collaborated with the Indonesia tourism board to create this stunning video from the Mt. Bromo volcano, one of the country's top attractions.  The mountain is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java, the province which covers the eastern third of Indonesia's most populous island.  The mountain, which has a peak elevation of about just over 2.3k meters (about 7.6k ft.), has been in a state of near-eruption for much of the past few years.

Contributor Mavicgrapher used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this amazing aerial video of downtown Jakarta, Indonesia.  Like many cities in Southeast Asia, the Indonesian capital city has seen a boom in skyscraper construction in recent decades.  As of 2018, there were nearly three dozen buildings in the city of over 200 meters (about 650 ft.) in height, almost all of which are less than ten years old.  In this video, you will see this skyline up close, both during the day and at night.

Ijen is a complex of volcanoes lying on the eastern end of Java, the most populous of the 17k+ islands in the Indonesian archipelago.  The volcano is known for a highly unusual looking blue colored fire in one of the craters, which is due to the presence of sulphur.  Award winning aerial cinematographers Nava Visual Communication flew a drone over the various volcano craters, and seeing the aerial video is akin to taking a virtual hike on the road to Kawah Ijen.

Top contributor and drone pilot used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this epic aerial view of the central part of Java in Indonesia.  While the island is by far the most heavily populated in Indonesia, most of its people live on its eastern and western ends, in and around the large cities.  The central part of the island is much less heavily populated and has retained more of the traditional Javanese cultural elements.  Most of this video was filmed in the Yogyakarta region and on the Dieng Plateau.

Contributor Teguh Setiawan used a DJI Phantom 3 drone to create this spectacular aerial video of a geological phenomenon on the island of Java in Indonesia.  Bleduk Kuwu is a mud volcano in the Grobogan Regency of Central Java.  The eruptions of salt-filled mud (which is used to make salt for consumption) occur roughly every 2-3 minutes, and are a major tourist attraction in the area.  According to local legend, the crater in the volcano leads to the Indian Ocean.

Check out this amazing drone video of Mount Papandayan on the island of Java in Indonesia.  It's a stratovolcano located southeast of Bandung, the capital of the West Java region and the third largest city of Indonesia.  Papandayan's peak has an elevation of just under 2.7k meters 9about 8.7k ft.), making it one of the taller volcanoes on Java.  The volcano had erupted catastrophically in 1772, killing thousands.  After remaining quiet for over two centuries, it's been active again early in the 21st century.

In this video, contributor Sevendrone gives us an aerial view of Borobudur, one of Indonesia's greatest cultural treasures.  The Buddhist temple is located in the central part of Java.  Constructed in the 9th century, the temple is most distinguished by its massive dome.  The dome is surrounded by over 70 Buddha statues, part of the 500+ such statues in and around the structure.  Borobudur has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site.

Many of Indonesia's volcanoes pose spectacular hiking opportunities.  With modest elevations, hiking to the tops of these "peaks" can yield spectacular views into their craters.  In this video, contributor DroneCult aerially filmed amazing hiking trips to Mt. Bromo and Ijen Crater, both of which are in East Java (the province which lies at the eastern end of the island of Java).  The latter of the two volcanoes is taller, with an elevation of about 2.8k (9.2k ft) above sea level.

Award winning contributor and drone pilot Fabio Knoll created this epic aerial look at Mt. Bromo, an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia.  Named after a Hindu god, the volcano is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.  The volcano has been in a state of eruption or near-eruption during much of the 21st century thus far, leading to numerous warnings and advisories.  Nevertheless, it continues to be one of the biggest tourist attractions in Java.

The Telkom Landmark Tower in Jakarta, Indonesia is 220 meters (720 feet) of pure FPV building dive bliss.  Home to the main Indonesian telecommunications company, it is the tallest of three towers in an office complex that was constructed beginning in 2012 and completed in 2017.  It has a hypnotic LED display that runs the entire length of its exterior.  In this epic flight, FPV pilot om.antonfpv shows us his talents as he dives the skyscraper during the day and the night!

The Indonesian capital city of Jakarta, which lies on the western end of the island of Java, is enormous by any measure.  The extended metropolitan Jakarta area has over 30 million inhabitants, making it the second largest urban conglomeration in the entire world after the Greater Tokyo area of Japan.   Contributor Aerial Norway traveled to Jakarta with a drone, and created an amazing video showing this gigantic metropolis from a bird's eye perspective.

Contributor and drone pilot r_prayugo used a DJI Phantom 3 drone to create this beautiful aerial view of the area around Bandung in West Java, Indonesia.  Bandung is the #3 city in the archipelago, after the capital Jakarta (also on the western side of Java) and Surabaya (on the opposite end of the island).  Bandung is situated in a valley surrounded by various volcanic-origin mountains.  The video is shot primarily in the hilly area around the city.

Contributor Philedrone created this magnificent aerial video of a well known Hindu temple in Indonesia.  The Prambaban Temple is situated in what is now the special region of  Yogyakarta, near the center of the island of Java.  Built in the 9th century, it's the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and one of the largest in the world.  While Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, it does have a Hindu minority which is estimated to number about 4 million, most of whom live in Bali.

Active Volcano Ijen Crater and Bromo // Indonesia


Domchoong created an amazing aerial look at two of Indonesia's greatest geological marvels.  Mt. Bromo is the highest volcano in a group of mountains known as the Tengger range of East Java.  It's a very active mountain, and warnings are periodically issued during times of high eruption risk.  Ijen is a well known crater, located to the east of Bromo near the very eastern end of the island.  For reasons which will be clear once you see the video, it's known as the Blue Fire Crater.

Prepare to be amazed by this video of one of the world's most well known volcanoes, shot with a camera mounted atop a racing quadcopter.  Contributor and FPV pilot Discmo took on Mt. Bromo, a famous volcano in East Java, Indonesia.  Flying his quadcopter with first person view (FPV) goggles, he is able to create a completely new perspective on this 2.3k meter (7.6k ft.) goliath, which is situated in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

The Most Beautiful Waterfall in Indonesia


Also known as Coban Sewu, the tiered waterfall of Tumpak Sewu is located between the Pronojiwo District, Lumajana Regency and the Ampelgading District, Malang Regency in East Java, Indonesia. The highly-visited tourist location loosely translates to “a thousand waterfalls” and is fed by glacial runoff that forms the Glidik River. Sjoerdbracke does a lovely job capturing its beauty in this Tumpak Sewu drone video; watch it and you'll understand where its name comes from.

Behold this stunning drone video of a magnificent rock formation on Indonesia's island Java, compliments of contributor Kinjo.  The Stone Garden of Pasir Pawon is located in the sub-district of Padalarang, which is part of the West Bandung regency in West Java.  It's located a bit to the northwest of Bandung, the principal city of West Java and the fourth most populous city in the country. As you'll see in the video, the area is characterized by endless fantastically shaped mini-mountains.
