Northern India from Above

Prepare to be blown away by these stunning drone views from the Indian Himalayan Mountains, compliments of new AirVuz contributor and pilot thepumjabiwanderer.  The video was filmed over the state of Himachal Pradesh, one of India's northernmost states, which covers much of the western part of the Himalayas.  You'll be treated to some stunning aerial views of the state's mountains and valleys.  At about the 1:38 mark, there's a great shot of the Chicham Bridge; at 13.6k ft. above sea level (4.15k m), it's the highest bridge in Asia.  

Ladakh is one of the northernmost regions of India.  Part of the Himalayan Mountain system, it is largely a high plateau which sits at an altitude of about 10k ft. above sea level (a bit over 3k m) and is surrounded by peaks of up to 23k ft. abvoe sea level (around 7k m).  With its epic scenery and wide-open spaces, it's become a popular spot for adventurous motorcycle riders, and more recently for talented first person view (FPV) drone pilots like AirVuz contributor quadkillerx.  Check out this fantastic Ladakh trip reel. 

Check out this beautiful drone video from the foothills of the Himalaya Mountains in Northern India, compliments of contributor prtzy.  The hills are located in and around the town of Mukteshwar, in the Nainital district of the state of Uttarakhand, not far from the border with Nepal.  Variously called the Mukteweshar Hills and the Kumaon Hills, they reach an elevation of around 2.3k meters or around 7.5k ft.  They are considered foothills of the Western Himalayas, home of many of the world's highest mountains.  

The traveling couple known as the Flip Flop Squad brings us this beautiful drone video from near the rooftop of the world: the northern Indian territory of Ladakh.  Ladakh is part of the historical region of Kashmir which has been bitterly disputed between India, Pakistan, and China since Indian independence.  The video, which was shot with a combination of drone and ground camera footage, features footage of the city of Agra, Itmad-ud-Daula, the Taj Mahal, the city of Leh, Hemis Monastery, Khardung La Pass, the Nubra Valley, and more.

Contributor Harry713 created this stunning drone video of India's Golden Temple, one of the most sacred places in the Sikh religion.  It's in the city of Amritsar, in the Punjab region of northwestern India.  The temple was built in the 16th century and suffered significant damage over the years from those hostile to the Sikh religion.  Sikhism is a monotheistic creed which originated in the Punjab region in the 15th century and is believed to be the world's fifth largest religion by followers.

Check out this stunning drone video of a frozen lake high in the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India, compliments of contributor and pilot prtzy.  The lake sits at an altitude of about 4.5k meters above sea level, or around 15k ft.  It's situated in Himachal Pradesh, one of the main states of Northern India.  This is in the Western Himalayas, which is the western half of the great mountain chain that divides the Indian Subcontinent from the rest of Asia.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone. 

Contributor PixelDo created this epic drone video of one of the world's most famous Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.  Key Monastery is situated in the Spiti Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh in northern India.  It's in the foothills of the Himalayas, at an altitude of over 4.1k meters (almost 13.7k ft.).  Believed to have been built in the 11th century, it's the largest monastery in the Spiti Valley, which served as the conduit for the spread of Buddhism from its birthplace in Tibet into India.

Ride along with contributor Alex Chacon on an epic motorcycle trip through the region of Ladakh in northern India.  Part of the larger region of Kashmir, Ladakh has emerged as one of the world's top motorcycle trekking destinations.  The video features footage from the Nubra Valley, Leh Ladakh, Sarchu, Rotang Pass, Chandigarh, Spiti Valley, Shimla, Manali, Keylong, Mandi, Khardung la, Hunder, Thicksey Monastery, Kargil, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Pang, More Plains, Jispa, Tso Kar, Sonamarg, Udhampur, Pangong Tso, Pangong Lake and more.  

While the exact geographic birthplace of yoga is a matter of historical debate, it's generally accepted that the practice originated in Northern India.  With the rapid spread of yoga to Western countries in recent years, yoga enthusiasts have been traveling to the region in increasing numbers.  In this drone video by MIAPVIDEOS, you'll get a bird's eye view of one of the most popular yoga destinations - the city of Rishikesh in the state of Uttarakhand.  It's known informally as the Yoga Capital of the World.  

The great Ganges (Ganga) River is amongst the 3-4 most important rivers in the world, although in terms of length it's a distant #35 at just over 2.5km (1.56 mi.).  It rises in the Himalaya's and runs through the North Indian Plain before breaking into distributories that empty into the Bay of Bengal. Passing through the most holy sites in Hinduism, it's considered sacred in the third largest religion.  In this video, you'll get an aerial look at the river nearer its source, compliments of contributor Miapvideos.

Gulmarg is home to one of India's top ski resorts.  It's in the northern state of Jammu & Kashmir, not far from the Pakistani border.  Situated in the middle of one of the world's most notorious political flashpoints, the area's tourism traffic has at times been affected by the level of military tension between India and Pakistan.  As these tension have (generally) subsided in recent years, Gulmarg has come into its own.  In this drone video by Rocannon, you can see these amazing Himalayan ski runs from above.  

For an epic adventure vacation, it's hard to beat an adventure race through the mountains of Kashmir in India.  Contributor and pilot Paintfly used ground and drone footage to capture an adventure race through the Ladakh Valley.  Ladakh is in India's northern reaches, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.  The race includes multiple categories such as Trekking, Rafting, Mountain Biking, and Rope Work.  It also includes time for altitude acclimation, definitely a must in these parts of the world!  

Returning to AirVuz after a one year hiatus, top contributor and pilot prtzy brings us this fantastic drone video from Northern India. He was able to aerially film a group of wild horses running along the More Plains, a plateau of the Himalayan Mountains in the northern territory of Ladakh.  The plateau has an elevation of about 4.8k meters above sea level or around 15.7k ft.  It's bisected by the Leh–Manali Highway, which runs for about 475 km (just under 300 mi.) and which connects Ledakh with the northernmost state of Himchal Pradesh.  

The Indian state of Himachal Pradesh in the northern part of the country was the scene of an epic 18 day motorcycle trip by a group of Brazilian bikers.  Contributor Drone Fella was able to film portions of the trip with a drone.  The result is this epic video which features extensive bird's eye views of the Royal Enfield motorcycles tearing through the countryside of the Himalayan foothills.  Himachal Pradesh is in the north-central part of the country, south of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.  

Top contributor prtzy used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this stunning aerial view of the Markha Valley in Northern India.  Centered on its namesake river, the valley runs through Ledakh, which is a union territory (a form of administration in India which is distinct from a state in that it is administered centrally) in the region of Kashmir.  The video includes footage of the mountain known as Kang Yatze, which sits at the head of the valley.  Kang Yatze has a peak elevation of 6.5k meters above seal level (around 21.3k ft.).  

Top AirVuz contributor prtzy combined drone and ground camera footage to create this memorable video of a trek through the mountains of Northern India.  The trip was through a portion of the Kangra Valley, which is part of the Western Himlayas in the state of Himchal Pradesh.  The specific route covered ran from the village of Rajgundha Village (near the town of Bir) to Thamsar Pass.  The valley runs from the foot of the Dhauladhar (also known as the White Mountains), which form part of the Lower Himalayan Range.  

With India's electricity supply heavily dependent on polluting coal-fired power plants, the country has been growing its windpower generating base.  While there are numerous constraints related to finding available land in suitable wind zones, gigantic turbines have been popping up throughout the nation; the country was #4 in installed capacity in 2016.  Brand Icon Studios used a drone to film one of these installations, the Pawan Chaki Wind Farm.  It's in the state of Himachal Pradesh in the country's northern region.  

Contributor and pilot yatiphotography created this magnificent promotional video for a spa resort in northern India.  The Terraces is located near the town of Kanatal, which lies in the west-central part of the state of Uttarakhand.  One of India's smallest states, Uttarakhand lies to the east of Himachal Pradesh and to the north of Uttar Pradesh, out of which it was carved around the turn of the 20th century.  It's a mountainous province, bordering the Chinese province of Tibet to the north.  

Check out this stunning drone video from the mountains of Northern India, compliments of UK07FPV.  The video was filmed during a ten day trek along the Parvati Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh.  The valley runs eastwards from the point where the Rivers Parvati and Beas converge.  The 130 km (around 80 mi.) journey features the characteristically spectacular scenery of the Himalayas region, including steep gorges, waterfalls, and towering mountains of up to 6.4k meters (around 21k ft.).

Located in the Himalayan mountains, Himachal Pradesh is one of the states of North India.  It's known for its scenic mountain towns and resorts, as well as its mountain activities like trekking, climbing, and downhill skiing. Himachal Pradesh also has a very strong Tibetan presence, with many Buddhist temples and monasteries, in part because it is host to the Dalai Lama.
