Sintra is a very old city located near the Portuguese capital city of Lisbon.  The architecture of Sintra, most of which dates to the 18th century, is highly distinctive.  Contributor Francisco Rodriguez, one of the top drone pilots in Portugal, created this amazing aerial view of this hilltop place of almost surreal beauty as it glimmers in the mist.  Sintra is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site.

There is something about this drone video by Nonexistent Jay of the Azores that is just amazing.  The deep blue water of the Atlantic Ocean, the volcanic craters, the narrow winding roads, the fog-enshrouded hilltops, the lush green valleys - it just works.  The nine volcanic islands are vestiges of Portugal's once-great colonial empire; now they operate as a semi-autonomous region, similar to Madeira which is an island located closer to the Portuguese mainland.

Lagoa do Fogo - Azores - Portugal

Sao Miguel is the largest (by population and land area) of the nine islands which make up the Azores, an Atlantic Ocean island archipelago which is an autonomous region of Portugal.  It lies towards the eastern end of the chain, closer to Portugal.  In this video, LostSoul82 used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create a bird's eye view of Lagoa do Fogo, a crater lake which is part of the island's Água de Pau Massif stratovolcano complex.

Cabo de Roca in southwestern Portugal enjoys the distinction of being the westernmost location in mainland Europe.  It is part of the country's Algarve region, which covers the southern part of the nation.  The lanscape of Cabo de Roca is one of white sand beaches and spectacular cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  Contributor Flying Visions flew a drone over this amazing spot on the western Iberian Peninsula, and the resulting aerial perspective is amazing.

The Seagulls and the Sea

For cinematic drone footage of birds flying along a beautiful coastline, this video can't be beat.  Skylight used a drone to capture a flock of seagulls on the coast of Portugal in the area of Alcobaca, which lies about midway down Portugal's Atlantic coastline.  The video starts with an aerial shot of some spectacular rocks along the beach at sunset, and then picks up some stunning shots of the seagulls flying up the coast.

Porto (Oporto) is Portugal's second city after the capital Lisbon.  It's the most important city in the country's norte region.  It is the city after which port wine is named, and it remains the most important source for that libation.  The city dates to the Antiquity.  Culturally it is at least as significant as Lisbon if not more so, and the entire core city is a UNESCO World Heritage site.  In this stunning video, Sprintz gives us a bird's eye view at this city which is located in an estuary of the Duoro River.

Europe's best surfing is found in areas of the Portuguese and French coasts facing the Atlantic Ocean.  While a wetsuit is generally required, the surfing action is top-notch.  Contributor Atlantic Drones traveled to Hossegor in southwestern France and Nazare on the Portuguese coast to film some of these surfing spots.  Using a combination of gimbal stabilized camera drones and FPV drones he created this epic video showing the best of the European surfing scene.

Mavic pro Sunrise Vasco Da Gama 4K Ultra HD

Jorge Novo Murias used a drone to create this epic bird's eye view of of Portugal's Vasco de Gama Bridge.  The bridge was completed in 1998 in connection with Expo 1998, the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama's epic voyage to India.  The cable-stayed bridge, which is the second longest in Europe, spans 12.3 km (7.3 mi) over the Tagus river and is now a critical part of metropolitan Lisbon's infrastructure.
