Project Zen FPV Drone Videos

DJI has revolutionized the world of first person view (FPV) drone flight with its FPV transmitters and goggles, which use a proprietary, low-latency digital video signal.  The transmission delay is small enough that the DJI system can be used in applications requiring minimal latency.  One of these applications is using FPV drones to film drift cars, where even a few milliseconds of delay makes a huge difference.  To see an example, check out this piece from FPV pilot elcuyfpv, which made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August of 2020.    

The near-shutdown of New York City during the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2020 gave first person view (FPV) pilots a chance to fly over parts of the city which are normally too crowded, all the while practicing good social distancing.  Case in point is this amazing "quarantine" reel by top contributor rememorales.  Using a racing quad, he was able to capture some stunningly cinematic FPV footage of the city during this strange time. The video features some epic skyscraper dives as well as other shots from around the desolate-looking city.

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot rememorales brings us this fantastic video from his filming of the E-Town Gambler drifting event in July, 2020.  The competition was held at the Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englshtown, New Jersey, about a 45 minute drive outside of New York City.  Watch him use an FPV mini-drone to chase top drift drivers as they battle it out for a $5,000 cash prize.  This video was picked for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in late July of 2020.  

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot elbuhofpv earned himself a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2020 with this excellent piece from a car drifting tournament on the USA's East Coast.  This video stands out for the quality and duration of close-up footage of these fast moving vehicles, whose tires are designed to let them slide around a race track.  It's not easy to drive these cars and even harder to film them with an FPV mini-drone, particularly when you're flying just a few feet off their bumpers! 

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot rememorales brings us this fantastic first person view (FPV) tour of Los Angeles, California as the city began to emerge from its Covid-19 quarantine in the Spring of 2020.  The video opens with a shot along one of LA's Pacific Ocean beaches, before heading for the canyons of downtown LA.  Here you'll be treated to some epic shots of the Art Deco classic Los Angeles Central Public Library, some skyscraper dives, and shots along the still nearly-empty streets of the USA's second-largest city.

The pilots ripped up the sky outside a bando in Staten Island, the New York City borough. The boys will dive, hit every gap, and burn pack after pack through the old site. With impressive technicality and challenging maneuvers this bando is definitely worth the watch, making it an AirVuz Pilots to Watch video in January of 2019. 

This excellent video by first-person view (FPV) pilot elbuhofpv will give you a new perspective of the great city of New York, which went into near-lockdown in the second half of March 2020 as it became the US epicenter of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.  Showing the city in the happier times before the storm hit, he was able to film a pair of jetskiers plying the waters that surround Lower Manhattan.  Check it out for some epic views of the city's skyline from the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and more.

Check out this first person view (FPV) video of a dive down New York City's tallest building outside of Manhattan, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot elbuhofpv.  He used a racing quad to tackle the Skyline Tower in Long Island City, a sort of "satellite" downtown in the eastern borough of Queens.  Completed in 2019, the 67 story residential tower stands 237 meters or 778 ft., surpassing in height the Brooklyn Point development which had been the city's tallest outside of Manhattan.
