Isle of Skye and Highlands
Talented pilot Flying Horizons gives us a 4K aerial tour of both the Isle of Sky and the mainland Scottish Highlands via his DJI Mavic 2 Pro in this film, which is also a DVOW nominee. It includes epic views of the Isle of Skye and its medieval castles, picturesque fishing villages, and rugged landscapes. The video also features footage of the Highlands on the nearby mainland, a mountainous region that is centered around Loch Ness, home to the mythical water monster “Nessie.”

DVOW Nominee at Bamburgh Beach and Castle
Bamburgh is a village off the coast of Northumberland, England. With a population of less than 500, you’re sure to find a wide open beach or two to take your horse out for a ride and watch the sunrise. That is exactly what drone pilot Jamie Dob does in this beautiful drone video of the English coastline. The Iconic White Cliffs of Dover
CP Imagined created this beautiful drone video of the highly cinematic White Cliffs of Dover in southeastern England. The chalk cliffs in County Kent are visible on clear days from the other side of the Channel in France. They've come to symbolize the strategic benefit of being an island nation. Their distinctive appearance has led to many major motion picture appearances, most recently as the backdrop for a scene in the 2018 epic Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
South of England: Isle of Wight
Contributor Jack Shirley took a holiday on England's Isle of Wight, just east of the center of the South Coast. The largest island off the coast of Great Britain, it is sometimes referred to simply as "The Island." The Isle of Wight has been a popular vacation destination since the 19th century, with travelers favoring its (comparatively) warm climate and beautiful coastlines. It also hosts many music festivals, most famously the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970, which drew up to 700,000 attendees.
West Sussex: Arundel Castle
Arundel is a town in West Sussex, towards the eastern end of the South England coast. It was established by one of William the Conqueror's lieutenants following the Norman Conquest in 1066. It's considered one of the great Norman castles of England, which were crucial to the stability of Norman rule. Arundel was used as a filming location for the 1994 feature movie The Madness of King George, and more recently for a scene in the 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman.
South Coast: Brighton
Brighton is one of the most popular seaside resort towns on England's southern coast. It lies in East Sussex, about an hour's drive south of London (assuming no traffic). Its popularity as a seaside retreat dates to the 18th century. Brighton Pier, which opened right before the turn of the 20th century, features rides and food kiosks for tourists to check out. The city is also know for its upbeat night life, shopping, art scene and festivals. CH drone shows off the colorful coastal city in this 4K aerial film.
England's Jurassic Coast
The South Coast of Great Britain contains some of the island's most remarkable natural scenery, including the Jurassic Coast which stretches from East Devon in the west to Dorset in the east. Top contributor BigHeadGreg, created this marvelous aerial tour of the natural wonders of the coast. His video includes bird's eye views of Old Harry Rocks and Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast and Seven Sisters chalk cliffs further east in East Sussex.
Kent and Cornwall: Anchoring the South Coast
In this drone video by tonyrmartin, you'll see the two counties at opposite ends of the coastline of southern England. County Kent lies on the eastern end. Uniquely amongst England's counties, it has coastlines on both the English Channel and the North Sea. It's home to some of the most iconic sights in the country, including the White Cliffs of Dover. Cornwall is on the opposite, western end. Cornwall is home to some of the most spectacular bits of coastline as well as cultural treasures like St. Michael's Mount.
Cornwall: St. Michael's Mount
Michael's Mount is a small island in the southwestern corner of England. It is connected to the mainland of Cornwall by causeway. The island, which is protected by the UK's National Trust, has just a few dozen residents. It has been occupied, albeit not continuously, since at least 2500 BC. Contributor Osker C Drone Photography used a DJI drone to create this spectacular aerial view of this tiny island sitting at very nearly the southwestern corner of Great Britain.
Dorset's Corfe Castle
Corfe Castle is an 11th century fortification in Dorset on the English South Coast. Built by William the Conqueror, it was one of the first castles to be built partly with stone. It has played an important role through many episodes of British history, including the English Civil War, and it is one of the most recognized historical sites in the southern UK. In this amazing video, contributor Benpwalis flies a drone over this amazing Norman castle, an English cultural treasure.
Somerset: Cheddar Gorge
Joshua Paul Gardner takes us on an aerial tour of Cheddar Gorge, one of the most spectacular natural sites in the United Kingdom. Formed by Ice Age glacial runoff, it's a limestone canyon in Somerset, not far from the Bristol Channel in Southwestern England. It's not only the largest canyon in the United Kingdom but the discovery site of some of its oldest human remains: it was in one of the gorge's caves that Cheddar Man, the oldest intact skeleton ever found on Great Britain, was found.
Dorset: Portland Bill and Lighthouse
Alta Vista Epic Aerials brings us this fantastic drone video of one of the most well recognized spots in Southwest England. Portland Bill is a small island connected via sand bar to the mainland just south of Weymouth in Dorset. At the southern end of the island is a narrow promontory, upon which sits the Portland Bill Lighthouse. The lighthouse is one of England's most important; it protects ships moving through some of the most dangerous waters in Great Britain.
Ancient Roman Theater
Contributor and drone pilot Jasemansky created this aerial of one of the most well known Roman ruin sites in England. It's a theater which was excavated from the site of the city of Verulamium, near the present day town of St. Albans. It's situated in what is now Hertfordshire, a short distance north of London. The theater dates to the second century AD, and fell into disuse and a ruined state as Roman power collapsed a couple of centuries later. The site was discovered and excavated in the 19th century.
East Anglia's North Norfolk Coast
North Norfolk is an east-west stretch of coastline of Norfolk County in East Anglia, England. It is known for fantastic wildlife, glorious beaches, seaside communities and a hinterland of rolling countryside and picturesque market towns and villages. Contributor and drone pilot Joshua Paul Gardner, a native of East Anglia, used his DJI Phantom drone to create this spectacular aerial tour of some of the most scenic spots on one of the most beautiful coastlines in the UK.
Cambridge: England's Great University
Jasemansky created this spectacular short aerial video of the great university city Cambridge in the East Anglia region of central England. It is famous as the site of Cambridge University, founded in the early 13th century, which is one of the top half dozen universities in the world. The university has produced the most sophisticated high tech cluster in Europe, the so-called Silicon Fen cluster of software, electronics, and biotech businesses which sprung up in the surrounding area.
West Midlands: Moreton Corbet Castle
Moreton Castle is a ruined castle in the UK's West Midlands region. It's near the small town of Moreton Corbet, which is in the county of Shropshire. The castle was used to project Norman power, and was an important in the various dynastic struggles which took place during the formation of early modern England. AS Aerial Cinema used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this magnificent aerial view of the castle ruins, which are protected as a heritage site under UK law.
West Midlands: Symands Yat Rock
Momofoto used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this outstanding aerial video of the Symands Yat Rock overlooking the Wye River Gorge in Herefordshire County in the West Midlands region of England. The area is known for its spectacular scenery including a significant raptor population. The area is home to human artifacts that date to 12,000 years ago, and is just a short distance northwest of the rolling hills of the Cotswalds, one of the most popular spots in central England.
Newcastle-upon-Tyne: City of NE England
This epic drone video by contributor Newcastlemale will give you spectacular view of northeastern England. It was filmed around the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, the largest city in the region, which was one of the most important cities of the Industrial Revolution. Originally part of Northumberland, it became the core of a new county called Tyne and Wear in 1974. The video includes spectacular views of the city and the surrounding area, including the iconic St. Mary's Lighthouse.
Aerial Tour of Yorkshire
Northern England's Yorkshire County is the largest in the United Kingdom in terms of its land area, taking up much of the northeast part of the country. It figured prominently in the War of the Roses and was an important center of the Industrial Revolution. Droning the Scottish Highlands
The Scottish Highlands, which cover the northern and western portions of the region, offer some of the most spectacular scenery in the United Kingdom. Wales: Snowdonia National Park
Snowdonia National Park in northwestern Wales is known for some of the best hiking trails in the United Kingdom if not the world. The park, which is the third National Park in the UK, was established in the 1950's. It's one of the larger tourist attractions in the UK, and its popularity continues to be boosted as it's used for more movie filming locations. In this video, contributor SamMace used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to aerially film some park travelers enjoying Snowdonia's many hiking trails.
South Stack Lighthouse, Wales
The South Stack Lighthouse is built on the summit of a small island off the north-west coast of Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales. It was constructed in 1809 to warn ships of the dangerous rocks below. The lighthouse is located on a small island reached via a descent of 400 steps down the steep mainland cliffs. This video is part of Joshua Paul Gardner's series of drone videos on the iconic landmark, one of the most well known lighthouses in the world and protected under UK conservation statutes.
North Wales: Conwy Castle
Conwy Castle is one of the most famous fortresses in Wales. It's situated in a town of the same name, on the north coast. It was built by King Edward I of England during his conquest of Wales, between 1283 and 1289. The castle was constructed as part of a wider project to create the walled town of Conwy. Contributor Joshua Paul Gardner used a DJI Mavic Pro drone and a GoPro ground camera to create this video showing this important medieval landmark from a bird's eye view.
Elan Valley, Wales
The Elan Valley lies in the Powys region of Wales, which runs along the border with England to the east. It is an area of well recognized natural beauty, and is sometimes referred to as the "Welsh Lake District" by comparison to the Lake District of northern England. Contributor Nathan Jermy used a drone to capture the spectacular beauty of this area, which is home to numerous lakes and reservoirs. Much of the valley is recognized and protected under UK conservation law.

Mourne Mountains of Northern Ireland
The Mourne Mountains sit in County Down in Northern Ireland. They include Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Ulster. Contributor Imagine Light used a DJI Mavic Air and a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this amazing bird's eye view of these magnificent peaks. The Mournes feature as a filming location for HBO's Game of Thrones series, including two episodes of season one and another in season three. This video is a nominee in the second annual Drone Video Awards for the GoT category.
England's Peak District
Contributor Jasemansky used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this amazing aerial view of some of the most iconic bits of the English countryside. It was filmed in the Peak District, an area of rolling hills mostly in the Derbyshire County of the East Midlands region. It is one of the longest-settled areas in England, and (like most of the Midlands) played an important role in the Industrial Revolution, in particular as the site of the Arkwright cotton mills.
