K2 with a Drone!

Pakistan is perhaps best known as the home of K2, the Himalayan mountain which is the world's second highest mountain after Mt. Everest and the highest peak in Pakistan.  Its peak is about 8.6k meters (just over 28k ft.) above sea level.  Contributor Scientik traveled with a group on an epic hike around the great peak.  The video contains brilliant footage of the region and also demonstrates the challenges faced when flying a drone at extremely high altitudes.

Everest, the world's highest mountain with an altitude of about 8.8k meters (just over 29k ft).

Everest, which reaches nearly 9 km or 6 mi high), it is also an important center of both Hindy and Buddhist culture.  Contributor Roman.Malik uses a drone to take us on an epic aerial tour of this diverse country.

Thimphu is the principal city of the Himlayan Kingdom of Bhutan.  The city is situated in the Himalayan foothills at an altitude of 2.2k meters (7.4k ft) above sea level.  The city, and the country of Bhutan, are remote enough that Thimphu does not have its own airport.  Contributor Enrico Pescantini used a drone to create this amazing aerial video of the city's giant Buddha statue.  Only completed in 2015, it's already one of the city's most recognized sites.

Chandra Taal: Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh

Spiti is a valley in the Indian Himalayan mountains.  It lies in the state of Himachal Pradesh, near the border with Tibet.  The valley is surrounded by mountains, with the "passes" at elevations of 3.5-4k meters (13k-15k ft).  Contributor Pixeldo.com created a series of similar drone videos in different villages of the valley, such as the one shown here.  Each begins with a "pull out" shot revealing the extent of the massive valley and the towering peaks which surround it.

Nepal's Himalayas with DJI Phantom 4

Contributor jeon.donghee faced not only the challenges of hiking through the Himalayan mountain range in Nepal, but he also had to overcame the numerous challenge of flying his DJI Phantom 4 in some of the most extreme conditions. Go along on his aerial trek through Nepal's massive mountain landscape in this drone video.  The video is beautifully captioned and features footage of Mt. Everest on a very clear day, as well as several other peaks in the massif.

The Hunza River runs through the Himalayan area of Northern Pakistan, near the borders with Afghanistan and China.  In autumn the trees throughout the Hunza valley turn to fire as their leaves turn gold, red orange and bronze, contrasting sharply with the barren mountains.  Contributor Abdul Hanan gives us a spectacular aerial view of this area with this amazing drone video.  Prepare to be amazed by the aerial views of some of the world's most spectacular scenery.

Top contributor Face Du Mond used ground camera and drone footage to make this stunning video of two of China's most beautiful provinces around the eastern part of the Himalayan system.  The Yunnan province is in the country's far southwestern corner, along the border with Myanmar.  Sichuan is an interior province, which lies to the north of Yunnan and to the east of Tibet.  The video will show you the spectacular natural scenery of this corner of China and its incredible people.

The Annapurna massif of Nepal is home to some of the world's tallest mountains.  The highest peak of the group (Mt. Annapurna) is over 8k meters (over 26k ft.), and there are thirteen peaks in the group over 7k meters (23k ft.).  These stunningly beautiful mountains are also amongst the world's most dangerous; there have been over 60 recorded fatalities against the 190+ attempts to reach the summit.  See the Annapurna's from above in this amazing drone video.

Mera Peak & Island Peak Expedition Preview

Take a drone trek with contributor Dave Whyte high up in the Himalayan Mountains to Mera Peak — the highest trekking peak found in Nepal.  The aerial footage shows a crew of hikers pushing through snow and ice to reach the glorious summit. The path allows hikers to reach an altitude of almost 6.5k meters (over 21k ft.), which is higher than the highest peaks on almost every other continent.  This epic expedition drone video is sure to take your breath away when see the view from the top.

Key Monastery: Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh

Contributor PixelDo created this epic drone video of one of the world's most famous Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.  Key Monastery is situated in the Spiti Valley in the state of Himachal Pradesh in northern India.  It's in the foothills of the Himalayas, at an altitude of over 4.1k meters (almost 13.7k ft.).  Believed to have been built in the 11th century, it's the largest monastery in the Spiti Valley, which served as the conduit for the spread of Buddhism from its birthplace in Tibet into India.
