2020 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 30

Every week, our team reviews every video uploaded to the site to pick the Top 5 videos. Then, we name our favorite as our Drone Video of the Week and send that drone pilot $ 250. (The winning video is also then a contender for Drone Video of the Month.) Multiple Drone Video of the Week nominee and winner Mauro Pagliai created this remarkable aerial film of Italy's capital city of Rome, an early epicenter in the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. In this incredible production, this talented aerial cinematographer reveals the gentle re-awakening of the historic city from the quarantining and lockdown measures enacted due to the devastating outbreak. His incredible edit of these slowly filling streets was not surprisingly crowned as the Drone Video of the Week winner in July 2020. 

Top AirVuz contributor RG Drones put together this DVOW nominated aerial collage of Miami, Florida, one of the USA's most visually impactful cities.  The video opens with shots of Miami Beach, the island community on the east side of the Biscayne Bay which has become one of the world's most glamorous spots.  Here you'll see the cruise ships which dock on Dodge Island and sail past Miami Beach's South Pointe through the Government Cut Channel.  You'll also be treated to some excellent views of Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins.

Top contributor and DVOW nominee HAYDEN KAST used a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone to create this stunning aerial look at the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.  The great chain, which runs from Canada's British Columbia to New Mexico in the Southwestern USA, covers the western half of Colorado.  Colorado is in many respects the heart of the Rockies; it is home to its 30 highest peaks and 78 of its hundred highest.  The highest peak of the Rockies, Mt. Elbert (elevation: 4.4k meters above sea level or 14/4k ft.) is near the center of the state.

Multiple Drone Video of the Week finalist and winner msember created this brilliant drone video of a stunning lake in northern Italy.  It's called Lago Di Braies, and it's located in the province of South Tyrol in the Trentino-Alto-Adige Region.  Also known as Pragser Wildsee from the days when the province was part of Austria prior to World War I, the lake covers a surface area of only 77 acres (about 35 hectares) but has a maximum depth of over 35 meters (almost 120 ft.).  The video captures the early morning fog hanging over the lake.  

Filmed over the course of two very full weeks, AirVūz content creator and drone pilot Capchure.ch made every moment count to create this stunning compilation of Switzerland.  Using his trusty Lumix GH5 and DJI Mavic Pro 2, Capchure.ch was able to beautifully highlight some of Switzerland's most iconic locations, including picturesque spots such as Grindelwald, Eiger, Bettmeralp, Lucerne and Mount Pilatus.  The final edit of his production is breathtaking, and the video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in July 2020.
