2021 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 7

Prepare to be blown away by this magnificent professional drone reel by former Drone Video of the Week/Month Winner Jay Christensen.  The video features an amazing mix of footage, ranging from landscape to urban to action shots, including some spectacular FPV footage.  Some of the many highlights include incredible nighttime skiing shots, the South Asian country of Nepal;, the skyline of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Iceland's famous Kirkjufell Mountain; a seaplane takeoff; shots of the Minnesota Timberwolves pro basketball team, and much more.

AirVuz contributor and former Drone Video of the Week Finalist RG CAM is one of the top commercial drone filming companies in Brazil.   In this impressive 2020 demo reel, they show some of the highlights of their professional aerial videography work.  The reel features a mix of footage from across this giant South American country, including the Newton Navarro Bridge in Natal, the hills of the state of Minas Gerais, the city of Belo Horizonte during the COVID-19 "lockdown", the northern city of Roraima, the Amazon River, and more.   

Top contributor ArturCarvalho earned his fifth Drone Video of the Week Finalist spot with this tremendous video of the African island of São Tomé.  It's one of the two main islands of the nation of São Tomé and Príncipe in the Gulf of Guinea, about 250 km (around 150 mi.) west of the mainland country of Gabon.  A popular eco-tourism destination, São Tomé offers fantastic beaches, jungle exploration, snorkeling, fishing, and more.  A former Portuguese colony, São Tomé once played an important role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade.  

Check out these excellent drone views from southeastern Iceland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot _mishamartin.  The video was filmed in the vicinity of the town of Hornafjörður, which lies on a fjord of the same name, just north of the more well-known town of Höfn.  You'll be treated to some excellent aerial views of the area's black sand beaches, as well as the glass-smooth and iceberg-dotted  waters of the fjord itself.  Much of the area is covered by the Vatnajökull, the largest and most voluminous of Iceland's icecaps.    

New contributor dronefate used a DJI Mavic Mini 2 to bring us this fantastic aerial portrait of the Persian Gulf city-state of Dubai.  The video alternates between shots of the city's modern skyline and the Empty Quarter desert which surrounds it.  At the 1:05 mark, there's a nice shot of Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper, and at 1:53 you'll see the Dubai Water Canal Bridge.  Other featured locations include the Marina District skyscrapers at the 2:40 mark and a nighttime timelapse sequence of the city's main highway artery.
