2021 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 9

Check out this stunning drone video from the largest island in Russia's giant Lake Baikal, compliments of multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist CINEMADRONE.  Olkhon Island lies about midway down the long, narrow lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in the world by water volume.  The third-largest lake island in the world, Oikhon is about 72 km (around 44 mi.) by about 21 km wide (around 13 mi.) at its widest.  Largely covered in forests, the island has a permanent population of less than 2,000, largely aboriginal Buryats.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot kerehore brings us this stunning drone video of a magnificent-looking beach in a remote area of Java, Indonesia.  It's called Pangasan Beach, and it's part of the town of Pacitan.  The town and beach lie on a bay on the southern part of the island in East Java, the province which covers roughly the eastern third of Java.  While Java is Indonesia's (and indeed the world's) most populous island, this area is a world away from the teeming streets of Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya.  

Drone pilot and AirVūz contributor Eaglewood Pictures created this stunning aerial film of Lapland, Finland's largest and most northern region.  Snow falls in Lapland as early as late August with the thickest snowfall being in early April. The video features footage of Riisitunturi National Park in the municipality of Posio; Pyhä-Luosto National Park in the central part of Lapland; and  Ruka Ski Resort in Kuusamo, near Finland's eastern border with Russia. This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in March 2021. 

Check out this wonderful, cinematic showreel by top AirVūz contributor and drone pilot VadimUshKa. Shot on a DJI Mavic Zoom, this aerial reel includes footage from the countries of Russia, Turkey, and Abkhazia (a small Caucasus republic which is generally recognized as territory of its neighbor, Georgia).  Notable locations in this film include the city of Kolomna, Russia (located about an hour's drive southeast of Moscow) and Cappadocia and Istanbul in Turkey. This film earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in March 2021.

New AirVūz contributor and pilot yasinfedakar created this remarkable aerial film of Istanbul.  Istanbul is situated astride the Straits of Bosphorus, literally at the crossroads of the European and Asian continents. The city is situated on a peninsula that is surrounded by the Golden Horn, a natural harbor on the north, the Bosphorus on the east, and the Marmara Sea on the south. Notable locations in this film include Galata Tower, Hagia Sophia, and The Blue Mosque. This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in March 2021.
