Best in Show & Cinematic FPV Winner

A World Artists Love

"Cinewhoop" style first person view (FPV) drones - which are light weight and have ducted propellers - are becoming one of the most versatile tools for creative cinematographers.  When flown by skilled pilots, they can be flown both indoors and outdoors, and in close proximity to people.  To see the vistas that these tiny platforms are opening up, check out this amazing piece by contributor and FPV pilot aniacopian.  Stabilized with Reelsteady and expertly edited, you'll see why this video won the Cinematic FPV category at the 6th Annual NYCDFF.

Landscape Winner: Cappadocia

Beautiful ...

Johnny and the Beautiful Destinations team traveled to Cappadocia, Turkey to capture this area often filmed by influencers and camera drone pilots, but rarely by FPV. The film features the region's most recognizable visuals: hot air balloons, the 'fairy tale' rock formations, wild horses, and stone-built towns. While there, they experienced high temps, snow, and rain, giving the impression this was filmed over months, not days. This incredible video won in the Landscape category of the 6th Annual NYCDFF.

X-Factor Winner: The Biggest Nuclear Icebreaker

The Biggest Nuclear Icebreaker

DVA winner created this stunning drone video of two Russian nuclear-powered icebreakers powering through the ice-covered Barents Sea.  Fifty Years of Victory and the Yamal are the only two active Arctica-class icebreakers.  These double-hulled vessels are just under 150 meters (486 ft.) long and displace about 25k tons.  Their two OK900A nuclear reactors produce an incredible 340MW of power, enough "juice" to fully supply a medium-sized city. This video won the X-Factor category at the 6th Annual NYCDFF.

Extreme Sports Winner: One Shot Motocross

One Shot Motocross

Red Bull Athlete Tyler Bereman is one of the world's top practitioners of the art of freestyle motocross - FMX, for short.  And who better to film this legendary rider performing his aerial tricks than JohnnyFPV - one of the world's top FPV drone pilots.  Check out the action in this short but spectacular piece created in partnership with Red Bull Media House and DJI.  Notice how close the quad is able to get to the action!
