Construction, Demolition, and Heavy Lifting: Big Machines at Work

Brand-new contributor Perigon Perspective was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest for this fantastic demo reel of their work with construction firms.  This company has obviously carved out an impressive niche filming construction sites, as the reel features shots of their work from over 100 different sites!  Construction projects, particularly larger projects, lend themselves well to being filmed by drones, as the aerial perspective is oftentimes the best way to showcase the scale of these undertakings.  

DJI's Avata 2 is, perhaps uniquely, a first person view (FPV) drone capable of creating highly cinematic video without the use of a separately mounted action camera.  In this video by top AirVuz contributor ArturCarvalho, you'll see the Avata 2 in action with a tour of a construction site.   As you'll see, the footage is virtually indistinguishable from that provided by even the most recent models in the GoPro Hero action camera line.  This video was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest.  

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot drew.drones brings us this fantastic one-shot fly-through of a prefab modular construction factory, which was picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in July of 2024.  The video will take you through the various stages of the production process and the key equipment centers, such as welding, folding, bending, and assembly, showing how the product flows through the plant.  The factory is operated by Hong Kong-based Ark Prefab.  

Get an aerial view of the construction of one of the world's largest mosques, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot EGYUAV.  The Astana Grand Mosque is located in its namesake city, the capital of the Central Asian republic of Kazakhstan.  The four minaret structure was completed in 2022, following a four year construction process.  Believed to be the largest mosque in all of Central Asia, it has capacity for up to 30,000 worshipers.  The dome, which you'll see in its pre-completed state, is the largest of its kind in the world.  

AirVuz contributor EGYUAV Pilot brings us this excellent drone video of the massive Abu Dhabi Plaza in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.  Filmed during its construction phase, it's situated roughly between the Presidential Palace and the Botanical Garden.  The 75 story main tower was completed in 2021.  Standing 1.05k ft. tall (320 m), it's  the tallest building in the entire region of Central Asia as of early 2023.  As the name perhaps suggests, the project was undertaken through a partnership with the United Arab Emirates.  

In this video by top contributor Airblastr, you'll see that drone videos of mines don't have to be outdoor affairs.  He flew a micro drone via first person view (FPV) in the lift room of the Anselmo Mine in Butte, Montana.  One of America's most important historic mines, Anselmo extracted zinc, lead, and copper from underground deposits, pulling them to the surface with the machinery in this lift room.  It's near the town of Butte, the western town which has as much claim as any to be the historic mining capital of the USA.
