Also known as the Adelaide Fort (named after the wife of William II, when the British held land in Port Louis), the fort offers stunning views of the harbour and the entire city of Port Louis. ... Constructed in the 19th century by Colonel Cunningham to protect the British Army from the enemy, the Citadel Fort has been constructed in a Moorish style, complete with horseshoe arches. The fort has been constructed using large rectangular blocks. In present times the fort has been converted into a National monument. Surrounding the fort is also the Caudan Water Front and the vast Indian Ocean. Fort Citadel remains a popular tourist destination owing to the stunning views it provides.
