Italy: From Peaks to Canals — Stunning Views of the Dolomites and Insane Hyperlapses in Venice

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Check out this fantastic travel video from Northern Italy, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and pilot Sidsmith85.  Picked as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in August of 2025, the video features shots from some of the country's most scenic spots, including the three-peaked Tre Cime di Lavaredo in the Dolomite Mountains (first seen at the :07 mark) and Sirmione Castle on Lake Garda (:18).  At around the 2:50 mark, you'll head southeast to the famous canals, churches, and public squares of Venice .

BADGES THIS VIDEO HAS EARNED:

🎧 For the best experience, use headphones.Trust me. Everything in this video is purely Italian: mountains, views, music, canals — and even the drone, Mavic 4 Pro. (Yes, it was made in China, but it was bought in Italy 😄 — during my recent trip, so now it proudly identifies as Italian 🇮🇹) My one-week trip through northern Italy began at the magnificent Lake Garda, which impressed me with its scale and surroundings. There’s plenty to see there: — Malcesine Castle and Castello Scaligero di Sirmione, — peaks with panoramic cloud views, — and the picturesque Sirmione peninsula. But the beaches couldn’t hold me for long — I needed mountains. So Mavic 4 Pro and I set off to conquer the Dolomites. Seceda, for example, refused to surrender — it started snowing in the middle of summer! From +28°C I was suddenly dropped into near-zero temps, wearing shorts and facing strong winds. The Mavic didn’t take off — but luckily, DJI FPV was ready. So the assault on Seceda began. Of course, I couldn’t skip Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Cadini di Misurina, where I arrived just in time for sunset. Golden hour — the perfect moment to unfold the propellers. The Mavic gave its all, and the weather gave us 100% cooperation. Next up was the coast near Venice. That’s where Osmo Pocket 3 came into play — the perfect camera for this kind of shooting: lightweight, reliable, and flexible. The goal was to fly beautifully through the canals during a 1.5-hour walk. This is where I actively used hyperlapses — to capture the rhythm, movement, and spirit of Venice in this short slice of time. Said and done! These are definitely places I’ll return to — next time, with a full-scale expedition. Enjoy the video!
