Zutphen is one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands.  It's located in Gelderland, a province which covers an east-central part of the country.  Zutphen was founded in the late 12th century, the third city in the modern-day Netherlands to receive its town rights.   Zutphen was one of the more fought-over towns in the 80 Years War for Dutch independence from Spain, the site of a major battle in 1586, and a siege in 1591.  In this excellent drone video by Tonny Nagtegaal, you'll get a bird's eye view of this historic town.
