Willington Power Stations cooling towers were built in the early 1950s that consisted of two coal-fired power stations which expanded to five towers after being sold to National Power in the early 1990's. The Power Station eventually closed in the mid-1990's but although most of the stations were demolished at the turn of the millennium, the five cooling towers standing at 300' feet high continue to dominate the skyline of the local area..
