The Netherlands is the country of the water.. And in the spring every one take the boats outside...De Vinkeveen lakes are created by peat extraction. Turf is peat soil which is suitable, after drying, to co-fire. As the peat soils were created between 1900 and 1950 many legakkers (strips of land on which the peat was laid to dry). The peat was used as a fuel. After the cessation of peat extraction by the rise of oil and natural gas as fuel, there are three or four hundred legakkers remaining on the Vinkeveen lakes.
