The best FPV pilots in the world are back in action for a third season of racing on ESPN. The Drone Racing League released THIS video promoting the Season 3 of their worldwide circuit, earlier this week. The season, which airs September 6th, will continue to up the ante with their intense, mile long courses staged in a plethora of exotic locations. Standouts include the infamous Woodward West BMX and Skateboarding Park in California, the BMW Welt in Munich, Germany, Adventuredome amusement park at Circus Circus in Las Vegas, and the first professional drone race in Saudi Arabia. AirVuz team member and DRL pilot Gab707 says one location was exceptionally cool, “The locations this year are nuts, like the Biosphere. Like when do you ever get to fly in an actual science experiment? It’s sort of a cage – a glass cage where they used to do these experiments to see if life was sustainable on another planet. People were actually confined there for years and we got to fly it. So, there’s an ocean, there’s a desert, we’re flying in and out of this thing and it’s absolutely crazy.” The 18 pilots include reigning World Champion Jet, master line-reader A_Nub, and viral video sensation JohnnyFPV. Gab707 said pilots to watch out for include pilots from past seasons Dunkan, FPV Provo and McStalle. But, there’s also new pilots that could shake things up this season. More European pilots were added to this year’s circuit, including Dutch pilots Dino and Shaggy FPV and Germany’s Upsidedown FPV. Those three, as well as American pilot Jrod and SIM pilots UFO and Robogensis will be newbies to watch. Gab707, who came in 2nd last year is looking to keep his lead this year, but knows it won’t be easy, “People have become way more serious. They’ve realized, this is actually going to be professional racing. This isn’t a small race in the park, it’s serious. So people are really starting to put in the practice and you’re starting to see work come through for everyone. For me, that’s the real observation. People are really getting good and practicing a lot. It’s not just a game anymore.” You can find out more about DRL Season 3 HERE.
