Drone delivery took a big step forward with a company that has a lot to gain by getting you their products as fast as possible. Amazon says it just launched its first drone delivery under the "Amazon Prime Air" label. This feat occurred at their testing ground in Cambridge, England which is a small Amazon distribution facility. A customer placed their order and 13 minutes later, it landed at their home.
Right now the program is very limited; the drones fly autonomously by GPS, under 400 feet, the packages weigh less than five pounds and the only two customers live very close to the distribution center. Amazon says within the next few months it will expand to several dozen nearby customers with the hopes to have hundreds of people getting their products by drone in the near future.
