Recorded in May 2022 Abandoned glass Factory Sindorf (Glassworks) At the beginning of the 20th century, Sindorf was predominantly agricultural. It was a stroke of luck for the community that the "Rheinische Glaswerke Weber & Fortemps" decided to build their glassworks in Sindorf. The municipality supported the important project and sold the necessary building land. The Sindorf train station, which opened in 1912, also guaranteed the glass factory its own railway connection. In 1926 a new building, the so-called "Cathedral" for the production of pressed glass was built. From 1964 until the factory was closed in 1980, only glass blocks were manufactured. Due to the excellent quality of the products, Sindorf has gained a good reputation among domestic and foreign customers.
