The Abbey of Santa Maria di Farfa is a monastery of the Benedictine congregation of Cassino, which takes its name from the homonymous river that flows not far away and which gave its name to the village adjacent to the abbey. It is located in the municipality of Fara in Sabina, in Rieti.

Did you know that Charlemagne stayed for a time at the Abbey of Farfa before going to Rome and being crowned in the Capitol? On this occasion, he donated to the Abbey a casket of pure gold adorned with gems.
