AirVūz News: World of Drones 07/06/21

Published 07/06/2021 07:25

We begin with some cool news from Google Wing and the launch of their free app that will help drone pilots obey US regulations. Opensky, which began back in 2019 in Australia is now going to be available in the United States for both commercial and recreational use. It can be used for everything from drone photography and videography to conducting commercial surveying. With the use and display of Google maps it will be color-coded to show the areas you can and can’t fly. This app is available now on both android and iOS.

Now to a ninja that can fly drones. You heard me right, Quinn Nguyen, a contestant on NBCs American Ninja Warrior also has a certain set of skills on the sticks as well. Not only did the professional FPV Drone Pilot compete on the course, but even got to take an fpv flight through it . So cool seeing FPV footage used more and more creatively these days!

A new month, a new drone. Parrot, the French UAV manufacturer who's been known as the “European leader in professional drones” has created a new version of their Anafi drone. Among its many new features, the Anafi Ai is equipped with 4G connectivity, a 48 megapixel camera, object avoidance, survey grading photogrammetry, and enhanced cyber security. While it’s not quite ready to hit the market, Parrot does expect it to be available later this year.

Before we get to the Airvuz drone video of the Week, let’s check out some of these sweet firework videos from over the 4th of July weekend.

Speaking of those Drone videos of the week, here in no particular order are the top five videos uploaded to AIRVUZ.com last week.

Reme was at it again with this extremely cinematic fpv production from his time in Tbilisi, Georgia. While exploring the capital city he captures everything from Hot Air Balloons to Ferris wheels and fortresses. From one unreal cinematic fpv film to another. In this epic edit, Gochistrella flies thru the medieval city of Avila, Spain. Not only is the footage great, but his flying skills in this one are incredible as well! Always awesome seeing new work from Gochistrella, can’t wait to see the next one!

Waterfalls are always an incredible sight to see, but when you can view them from Above, now that’s a game changer. Thanks to drone pilot and creator yuri parinduri we’re all in luck. Not only are the waterfalls stunning, but that whole side of West Java, Indonesia is truly jaw dropping! Thanks for sharing Yuri, and we look forward to your next video.

And now… the AIRVUZ drone video of the week goes to…

Tbilisi from Above by Reme Morales
Seeing the progress Reme has made in the fpv world over the last year is truly remarkable. Videos like this latest one he competed for the Tourism board in Georgia proves exactly that! We can’t even imagine what he’ll accomplish during his second full year of FPV! Congrats again to Reme for taking home the Drone video of the Week and now being eligible for the Drone Video of the Month!

Continuing on the FPV trend... What. A. Week of pilots to watch, the skills were off the chart! All of those videos (and pilots) are now eligible for the July AIRVUZ FPV pilot to watch!

Also before we let you go you have to hear about this awesome contest taking place as part of the first annual Thunderbird Drone Festival.

Scavendrone, which will be hosted by us here at AirVuz, is a 48-hour contest where drone pilots from anywhere in the world will have a chance to compete in a scavenger hunt from the air. A list of objects and locations will be given and each pilot and they’ll have 48 hours to find, photograph and submit the items on that list. Awards will be given in multiple categories. Scavendrone begins at 12:00 am CST on Friday July 9th, and ends at 11:59pm CST Saturday July 10th.
