Let’s check the headlines to see what’s been happening in the World of Drones.

A video went viral last week when a man saved a surfer from a potential shark attack thanks to his drone. As Christopher Joye’s drone hovered above the water along the Australian coast, it captured footage of a surfer sitting on his surfboard. Joye also spotted a shark swimming toward the surfer.

Equipped with the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual — which comes equipped with emergency speakers — Joye was able to alert the surfer of the incoming shark. As you can see in the video, the surfer eventually realizes what’s happening and begins to swim to safety as the shark eventually swims away.
It seems like we’ve been hearing about drone delivery in the United States for a number of years, and we’re now getting even closer to seeing it as a reality. Alphabet, the parent company of Google, announced late last week that it will begin a drone delivery service in Virginia starting in October. Alphabet’s drone company, Wing, has partnered with Walgreens and FedEx to test home deliveries via drone.
The drones will launch from a service center and will fly up to 200 feet high. Upon reaching its destination, the drone will then hover at 23 feet and will lower the delivery with a tether. This latest announcement comes after Wing was certified earlier this year by the Federal Aviation Administration as an air carrier.
We here at AirVuz have seen drone videos from just about everywhere in the world — and now we might see some from elsewhere in the universe. NASA announced plans to send a drone to one of Saturn’s moons.
The plan for NASA’s nuclear-powered Dragonfly drone is to land on Titan, the largest of Saturn’s moons. The drone would hover above the surface and constantly take photos of the landscape. This won’t be happening any time soon, however. The drone won’t leave Earth until 2026, and the journey to Saturn’s moon will take eight years.
