Airdrop, Flying with the Yakstars Team

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

While commercial drone videography often involves flying in complex environments, what you will see in this outstanding DVOW Finalist video by top AirVuz contributor ArturCarvalho is amongst the very most challenging.  He was tapped to film the Yakstars Aerobatic Team, an aerial acrobatic team.  This Spanish-Portuguese team flies a six plane squadron of Yak 52's, which were originally developed in the former Soviet Union beginning in the 1970's and later produced under license in Romania and modified for acrobatic use.

BADGES THIS VIDEO HAS EARNED:

For three days I had the rare privilege of stepping inside the world of precision aerobatics. This film follows the incredible Yakstars Aerobatic Team, a group of pilots who turn the sky into choreography. What looks effortless in the air is built on discipline, trust, and endless repetition on the ground. Watching them prepare, brief, rehearse and then execute their formations just meters apart is something truly special. Capturing this with a drone, flying alongside real aerobatic aircraft, was one of those moments where you realize how much there still is to learn about flight, precision and teamwork. A huge thank you to the Yakstars pilots for allowing me to document their world and for their generosity throughout these days. Special thanks to David Gu for the opportunity and for making this experience possible. And to Rock in Rio, for the magical invitation that allowed this project to happen, flying drones alongside airplanes is not something you get to do every day.

I learned a lot during these days. About aviation, about discipline, and about the beauty of precision in the sky. Hope you enjoy the film.
