Amazon Jungle and Pampas, Bolivia
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Top contributor Jturner created this stunning drone video of a very different side of Bolivia, one far from the Andes Mountains and the salt flats that many associate with this South American country. It was filmed near Rurrenabaque, a small town in the Beni River in the Department (state) of Beni, in the northern part of the country. Here is lowland rainforest in the Amazon River Basin; much like its neighbor Peru, there is an "Andes Bolivia" and an "Amazon Bolivia" which offer vastly different landscapes. This video was a DVOW nominee in June, 2019.

I filmed this video using the DJI Mavic Pro while visiting the Bolivian Amazon in summer 2017. This is a compilation of footage taken in the town of Rurrenabaque, deep in the jungle near Madidi Jungle Ecolodge, and the Pampas. Madidi Jungle Ecolodge is truly deep in the jungle, surrounded in all directions for miles upon miles with dense rainforest. The Ecolodge is a three-hour boat ride in a motor canoe up river from the small town of Rurrenabaque. Rurrenabaque is around a 45-minute flight in a tiny propeller plane from La Paz. However, the roads are so un developed that it would take nearly 24 hours to make it to Rurrenabaque from La Paz by car or bus on rough mud roads. In the rainy season these roads are often made impassible by mudslides. When in the jungle we had the opportunity to see some amazing plant and animal life including various monkeys, tucans, aracaris, macaws, parrots, dart frogs, tree frogs, snakes, wild boars, crazy insects, spiders, tarantulas, as well as an incredibly friendly baby tapir who would visit our lodge from time to time. Overall an incredible experience. Thanks to our amazing guide Norman Valdez from Madidi Jungle Ecolodge.
