BACK IN THE GAME – FPV Freestyle
Currently my life has so many unknowns - my life is very non-traditional. This is good, and bad. I am from the countryside, but live in the centre of Hong Kong most of the time. I sometimes get claustrophobic and thus frustrated and moody. Because of the unknowns in my life, FPV is the medicine I really believe that within the flow-states, that we get to experience through FPV, combined with the freedom of the power to fly, I get my mind to a place where I am not thinking. Not worrying. Completely focussed on the moment. I really feel so lucky that I am able to have that experience, to be inside a state of flow where I try to remove conscious thoughts, decisions and reactions. Within these moments I no longer react to the world around me, I just exist.
It occurred to me recently that quite a few well known pilots openly suffer with depression. FPV becomes a shared medicine for us and because of my reasons above, it is such a great medicine. I wouldn’t say I have depression, but I definitely have big mental highs and lows, like most people I guess. Because FPV almost has a kind of healing power it could be used as a platform to talk more openly about mental lows.
I realise this is very #firstworldproblems. I am almost embarrassed to write it, however I expect it resonates pretty deeply with most of the community.
